At some point, I'm going to run Burnt Offerings in a mid-level campaign. What should I change to make this adventure work for a player who runs a Bard, with a fighter and a sorcerer as cohorts?
Upping the number of the goblins in the assault on the town seems like the easy part. But leveling up leaders has unintended consequences at times. What choices with the leaders would you suggest that I keep an eye out for?
And, would you be interested in me posting that material if it does come to pass?

- You could have Malfeshenkor freed and helping Nualia out.
- You could have mobs of goblins (that let's you keep them low level and still a threat).

I know goblins swarms...for your mobs.

What's the difference between swarms and mobs?
And I've read that some people have had some difficulties with the mob template. How has it worked for you?
Well, I actually use True20. But it does have a Combat Unit template, that with just a little tweaking can be used for mobs. I wasn't aware that the Mob template in the DMGII caused problems though.
Though using a Swarm isn't a bad idea either.

The difference between swarms and mobs is basically size. Swarms are little bitty creatures(I think tiny or smaller) while mobs are small or larger.
This means that mobs are more likely to be intelligent, but that isn't a necessity, a stampede of horses for instance is an example of a mob. I believe the Mob template is in the dmg2, but if you have it available to you the template is shown in the shackled city AP as well.
Spoiler for SCAP
In the adventure where the riots are happening as the volcano is in danger of erupting. There is a stampede of horses, and they not only give the stats but show the template as well. It may be in the monster compilation at the back of the book.
