Hello all,
I had a question, and I hope this is the correct forum to search for an answer.
I received my copy of the Gazetteer, and as expected I am greatly satisfied with it. I was particularly pleased with the map of Golaron (or at least a sizable portion of it).
So pleased am I with this map and its aesthetic value that I'd like to frame it and put it up on my wall to keep. I did something similar with the poster in the final issue of Dragon, with the Githyanki army. The only issue I've ever had with doing this, however, is that the poster comes folded, and thus has noticeable creases.
With the map of Golaran, I face a similar concern. I thought I would come here and ask two questions to help with my decision.
1. Is it allowable to print out the map of Golaron out at a local copy/photo shop? I know little of copyright issues beyond the fact that this seems like this would be one. I certainly don't want to violate any rules or laws here, so I wanted to ask first.
2. Assuming the answer to 1. is no, is there another means available to me to obtain a version of the Golaron map without it being folded? I understand it wouldn't likely be cheap, but neither would option 1, as I imagine I'd be spending $100 or more on printing and framing.
If both these questions return a negative, I will likely resign myself to having a slightly creased version of my framed Golaron map. I might have to purchase another copy of the gazetteer to get another copy of the map, as my group has already deepened the creases from folding and unfolding the map (I had to do the same with the above mentioned Githyanki poster), and, of course, I'd like to maintain a copy to unfold on the gaming table when needed.
Thank you for your time, and moreover, thank you for your excellent product.

Hi Reaperman,
I haven't heard anyone from Paizo object to printing the PDFs. In fact I believe the pdf versions are meant to be printable (they even supply printer friendly versions). So you're cool there.
However, some copy shops take issue with printing PDF and e-books. Your best bet is to ask your local copy shop what their policy is in regards to printing from PDFs.

On this note, is there any plan by the Powers to print rolled, oversized maps? Maybe just huge posters of the world/regional maps.
I liked the limited-edition vinyl maps for Ptolus. It is on the pricey side so it wasn't for everyone. Something similar for Pathfinder would be superb. Probably the only thing that I would like better would be a large canvas map.

I'm one of those Lettered Tray case Edition types, so I would pay out the wazoo for a quality, limited, numbered map; and signed by the cartographer, too? $$$

I would pay for this but then I am an overachiever.

I took the Varisia and Sandpoint maps from the map pack to Kinkos and had them laminated back-to-back. So now they won't get damaged and I can write on them with dry-erase marker. And I can use them as a place mat should the need arise. I plan to do the same with the Golarion map, though I might wait for the CS, as it will have the correct location of Darkmoon Vale on it.

One of the chats Erik mentioned that if they sold enough Gazeteers they may start thinking about a globe of some sort - if there was demand.........

For that last one, might I suggest Paizo teaming up with Pro-Fantasy to create something akin to the Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas - probably one of the best yet least-known products to ever come out for the setting. Pro-Fantasy has been dying to do a newer version of the app, or even re-release the old one, but WotC won't allow it - I bet they would jump at the chance to do another similar product.
And it had a spinning globe. :D

The FRIA is indeed an awesome tool. It's a shame that they can't do anymore work on it. If they were to do something for Golarion, that'd be so awesome.
