Regarding the pedestals, magical appraisal of the pedestal reveals that they rely on conjuration magic but of a very high level. Detect magic also reveals that the pedestals are in some way linked to the runes in the other room. Rellios and Klyndak (when using detect magic) have been able to see the missing objects but never when looking directly at them. All physical attempts to take the objects have, as of yet, failed.

Didn't think it would be much risk to you.
Klyndak continues to suffer from nightmares of being forced to forge weapons for the enemy. For the most part, he is able to separate these feelings from reality and not hold it against Hru. In the end, forging this great sword is not the pleasure that you feel it should be. The embers of the fire salamander continue to burn in the forge without cooling allowing Klyndak to save time that would have been spent stoking the flame.

Two questions: Are the three objects that are visible able to be removed? And if we call for the objects in dwarven while standing on the runes (using the names given on the pedestals) is there any effect?

You can remove the visible objects. Calling the names of the objects in dwarven does not have an effect.

As greatly overconfidant as I feel, with the new level and all I'm not sure we 3 can take 3 ogres...at least not all at once. What say you Rellios, do we run or Fight? If Clareg and I charge, it could be that you could eliminate one by dropping a major sneaker. I can juice everyone with a strength surge(+1 for 1 attack within 3 rnds), and bless and cast magic weapon on my hammer, + I can get angry, they won't like me when I'm angry. I must admit I rarely want to bak away when I can charge..but I digress...
EDIT: Wait! wait! it get's better! I can Enlarge myself after the bless and magic weapon then go into rage..those ogres don't stand a chance
"Three ogres against the three of us be soundin' like a fair fight. Let's be tryin' to avoid any such a fair fight, eh?!"

Sorry guys for being out of the loop...I kind of mentioned my difficulties the last couple days over in the discussion thread. It looks like I've missed a quite a bit of planning and such. None of it really is off-base from what I would have done, though.
Also, in case it matters, I do have ranks in Survival. It's only +2, but every little bit helps I suppose.
As to the current dilema, my first impulse is to say we try stealth first and avoid any nasty trauma. However, if both Hru and Clareg are willing to face them, I can certainly try to sneak attack 'em. Or I try to pepper them with arrows while the "tanking twosome" do a frontal assault. Contrary to the dwarf's opinion, I'd like to think I'm stronger than your average elf.
What I would suggest, and DM let us know if sounds reasonable, let's try to find either a bottleneck in the forest or stick to small clearings to hamper their attacks. Thoughts?

I've been trying to check the date. I think it will be the 21st date of Kuthona at the end of this hunting and gathering week.
1 day recruiting
1 day batriders
1 day Bzztok
1 day arrive at spires
2 day resting then rescue Hru
2 day for Rellios to wake
2 day for Rellios to get wand working / level up
1 day exploring forge level
1 day sleeping beauty
2 day level up
7 day hunting for food
You unloaded trail rations for a party of 8 for one month (240 days of food) from the barge. In seven days of hunting and gathering (assuming you survive the fight with the ogres and any other encounters that have yet to come), you will have collected 63 days worth of food. Taking into account the food eaten already and the food collected, I figure you will have two months worth of food at the end of this week of collecting.

I rolled a 4 for stealth and a 10 for init, and explained my plan and it got et!! ok we find a small clearing that they have to enter single file then Hru casts bless and magic weapon, and if anyone wants STRsurge (+1STR on one roll within 3 rounds) then as they enter I will enlarge then go into rage as a free action.
Hru begins praying loudly in orcish, with many a "GORUM!" and "IRON LORD" resounding around the small clearing
Just in case: initiative (1d20+2=10)
EDIT: I'll be -4 ac (12) but +2hp
Rellios
Rellios will do his best to find a nice perch to take a shot from.
The intent is to drive one of them towards a spot where Hru and Clareg can hit him hard - maybe drop him. Stealth (1d20+8=25)
Bow (1d20+5=15) Damage (1d8=6) Sneak Attack (2d6=6)

Clareg sees Hru standing behind a waist-high bush and stands beside him. At the last minute, he says "Oh! We be after hidin'? I didna realize!"
The ogres, realizing that their attempt at stealth has failed as badly as Hru's, charge down the narrow path towards the clearing.
With Clareg and Hru standing side-by-side at the exact point where the path widens, the ogres can only enter one at a time. The first ogre may be dumb but he knows how to fight. He barrels into Hru ...
What is Hru's CMB with his enlarged size? The ogre got a 26 on his bull rush. Hru gets an AoO as well.
ROUND 1
Ogre's attack
Hru's AofO
Rellios
Clareg
Hru's attack.

I think Hru's CMB is now +6, correct me if I'm wrong. The ogre pushes Hru back 10' and moves with him. Hru gets his attack of opportunity first. Clareg will also get an AoO as the ogre has moved through a square he threatens.

+2 BAB, +3 str. +2 rage strength, +1 large = +8 CMB if Hru is raging. Not that this would change the results. ;)

Rellios' first (surprise) attack scratches the tough skin of the ogre.
The first ogre manages to push back Hru five feet into the clearing allowing the others an opening but, as he does so, is hit by Clareg's axe, Hru's warhammer, and an arrow from the stealthily perched elven archer. He falls down dead in the clearing as the other two ogres barrel forward.
The way I see it, Clareg has an ogre to his front and to his side. Rellios is perched in a tree on the other side, Hru has been pushed back into the clearing and now faces one ogre.
.O.
.C.O.R.

Clareg makes continues the swing of his axe, attacking the ogre to his right.11 points of damage.
After Hru makes his second round 1 attack ...
ROUND 2
Ogre's attack
Rellios
Clareg
Hru's attack.
Rellios
On Rellios turn, since they seem fully engaged, Rellios will jump down and make his way to the ogre and strike from behind. I'm aiming for the ogre that would be in Clareg's front...so ideally I should be opposite him with ogre in between us.
Rapier, Short Sword attacks (1d20+3=23, 1d20+3=10)
Rapier Critical (1d20+3=15)
Rapier Damage (1d6+2=4) Sword Damage (1d6+1=7) Critical Damage (1d6+2=4)
Sneak Attack (2d6=8)

With a gutteral roar that only vaguely resembles "GORRRUUUUM!!" he falls upon the next ogre.
destuctive smite attack and damage....an additional 1 damage from destructive smite and any crits confirm (1d20+9=20, 2d6+7=19) holy crap that's alot of damage for not even critting 20!

As Klyndak hammers and pounds away at the anvil, dizziness and confusion fill his head. He turns, and looks upon the room full of snarling dwarves who work away at forging weapons of war. There is something animalistic about these dwarves that used to be his friends.
A great cheer fills the room as they look towards the iron cage leading up to the higher level. Two nasty looking dwarven guards push and prod a beautiful dwarven woman in the finest robes -- a pregnant dwarven woman -- across the room. She falls to her knees as one of the guards prods her. A dwarf in polished armour slaps a guard and then gestures that she be helped up. He makes an apologetic comment to the woman.
"A small kindness brother," the woman spits "will not absolve you."
"You'd be best to be kinder sister," says the regent to the dowager queen ('How does Klyndak know who these people are?') "for soon you may not be of use. I'll have a new prince to replace the one you had stolen from me."
"I will never give birth to an abomination," she screams trying to strike him.
The regent turns to the guards: "Chain her in the sauna and guard her day and night. Let no harm come to her or my son."
As he leaves, he mutters "I will be king."
Hru Gorumgrag
"GAAAAAARRRRGGHH!" wails Hru as he goes at his huge foe, trading blows with the the foul humanoid.
attack;damage (1d20+9=29, 2d6+7=17) I don't know if the des. smite lasts till my next attack or encompasses my next attack...no prpg at work so I'll roll to confirm
crit confirm (1d20+9=22) BLAMMUS
crit damage (2d6+6=11, 2d6+6=16) +1 for magic weapon = 28!!! oof.
Hru Gorumgrag
I'll just throw my attack out there, you can determine when it takes effect...this way as my lunch ends, I won't hold us up
attack; damage (1d20+9=10, 2d6+7=11) from 20 to 1...does this mean the ancient hammer breaks?
Hru lunges for his opponent, but goes wide. "GRRRRRRRRRR!!"

Rellios
Rellios attempts to attack make a final attack on the ogre, but it's flailing around manages to keep the elf's attack off-balance.

"I can't help but wonder if I should feel a touch worried about the fact that I'm relieved to be battling ogres, just to not have to deal with a bunch of ghosts and phantoms," Rellios states with a grin as he retrieves his blades.
He then utters with a sarcastic chuckle, "And by the way, who do you think it was stabbin' their backsides to make it so easy for ya, Clareg?"
Hru Gorumgrag
Hru shrinks back to normal size as the ogre falls, and his shoulders sag as if from great exertion. He looks smaller and weaker than ever compared to the avatar of Gorum that had just manifested and his eyes betray just a touch of fear at what he had become. "My dogs are killin' me" he says with little enthusiasm. No booming laughter comes forth as he scans the fallen ogres. "Maybe we should search em'" he states bluntly, "and then get this stuff back to Klyndak, I need sleep badly" his whole frame seem to droop noticably, and it makes apparent how long and sinuous his arms actually are, as he draws the other hammer from his belt and starts towards the gigantic corpses.
I'll be fatigued for 6 rounds, and as a side note, it cost 1 pt per round (one to enter and 1 each round thereafter +what ever you spend on powers-which I don't have yet) so I can actually rage for 5 rounds not 4 as I previously thought

The ogre's idea of valuables differs widely from yours'. Amongst the strange and smelly trash that the ogres carry with them is one item of great interest. Each ogre wears a belt containing various animal skulls including several canine shaped skulls and a few that look elven. From one of the belts hangs a skull that is made of crystal. The shape of the skull suggests the model was probably elvish. No matter which way you turn the skull, you catch a glimpse of a spider scurrying to the other side and out of sight. You must turn the skull several times before you realize that there is, in fact, no spider hiding within it.
You encounter no more resistance on your way back to the spires.
Tarren the Dungeon Master
You do not encounter any more threats during your hunts. You occassionally spot the canine-faced humanoids watching you from a distance. They give you wide berth and avoid contact with you. At the end of the week it is the 21st date of Kuthona. You have about two months worth of food stored away and a completed replacement greatsword.
Rellios
Rellios will grab the crytsal skull (hmmm...Drow, perhaps?), and when we are back in relative safety he'll give it an appraisal to see if he notes anything interesting. Also, he'll see if Klyndak can give it a detect magic check and notice any further about - if he's so inclined after his hammering and singing.
Since it seems we're back to relative normality - do we want to:
a) Go down one floor and confront the cold hag again?
b) If that succeeds, check out the scrapping noise on the same floor.
or
c) Go back up one floor and investigate the room with the knocking noise we skipped before
or
d) Try to find away accross to the next tower - not that I've noted an obvious way to do so, short of trying to climb up the dang thing.
or
e) Trying going back accross the bridge to finish dealing with goblin vampire and crew?
Just mapping options - certainly don't expect to do them all or in any specific order
Also, I'm all for trying to figure out what's up with the pedistals and runes - but I'm fresh out of ideas. Would a Disable Device check help in this situation?
Klyndak
I wonder how badly wiping out the hobgoblins would mess with the DMs second storyline ;).
I think we should go below first, investigate the scraping sound, retrieve the gems and the body of the dwarf princeling from the water with mage hand, and then, when we are at full strength, see whats in the last unexplored room upstairs.
As for crossing to the next spire, there may be a way through the unexplored room. If there is not, we can go down and then spiderclimb our way up. Maybe dealing with the spiders along the way.
