Rellios
My temptation as a player is to say let's go back and recover abit so that we can "officially" level. However, it is still early enough (and I think we are still healthy enough - except maybe for Clareg) that Rellios would say let's press on...
Rellios steps up to the last door, ready to open them. "Ready, all?" he asks.
Kannonfodder
Ignoring Hru's quip, I ask, "So are ye lads up ta openin' the ferth door or do we be goin' back ta our camp. I 'ave an idea fer climbin' down the wall wit' magic 'n per'aps we could be findin' some game or berries or such. Or we could be checkin' be'ind the door..."
"I can follow where you be leadin' but I doubt we'll be findin' a throne 'ere."
Hru Gorumgrag
I have one more turn/heal (in case of undead) and the wand, should we be in dire straights....I'm for the door...just one more (famous last words) though, if it looks intense, we should run away so as not to repeat the vampire debacle
Hru raises his giant metal club and gestures towards the door " I'm ready, maybe there's window in there-Har!"

Before I head off to work ...
This room contains the remains of storage bins. By the scraps on the floor they may have contained metals and ores prior to their destruction. Currently, the bins are in pieces on the floor as if torn apart. In the right and left corners of the opposite wall, there are openings about 5' high. These openings are crude and rubbish strewn. Peering into them, you see that the stone has just been torn (or chewed) away. It almost seems as if something has burrowed into the wall of the spire at these points. You can hear the sound of metal scraping on stone from the top left one.
Klyndak
"Right, back upstairs it is then," and as Rellios closes the door, I head back to the rope.
Before heading upstairs, we need to salvage the small rope tied around the broken cage.
"Incidentally," I say as I walk, "It was just after strikin' me that the chain attached to the lift can be bein' used to 'elp us down the side o' this spire."
Tarren the Dungeon Master
If possible, over the next day or so, when not training, I want to descend again to the well room and use Mage Hand to retrieve the Jewels from the bottom of the well.
This, I notice, would not be possible without unlimited castings of Cantrips. :D
When Klyndak descends by rope to the sauna again, he may be surprised to find a familiar figure climbing out of the well. "Regent!" she hisses, "For as long as you live, I will hunt you." Luckily, there is a chain holding her back.
I LOVE Revenants.
Rellios
"Well, Master Klyndak, I've been giving the situation some thought since you returned."
The proposition would be that we go down, and kill/incapacitate her again. But this time, we cut that chain and weigh her down to the bottom of the well - that way she can't climb up on the chain, I think. Too cruel? Also, maybe we should conclude our business on what we want to do about that body at the bottom of the well once she's temporarily out of the way.
DM: Would Rellios be able to swim down into the well and retrieve the body?
Also, unless I missed it, have we found another way to cross to another tower? It occurs to me that the only way out of this tower (besides going back towards the goblins)may be through the openings in the room we decided not to explore.

I don't think 25' is too deep to swim down, grab something, turn around and come back up. Also, a rope from the balcony has been suggested as a way out of the spire.
Klyndak
If we incapacitate her, i can maybe use mage hand to retrieve both body and jewels. Also, we have a length of chain, two lengths of rope. We can go out of the tower off of the balcony.
Personally, I think we should take the time to descend out of the tower for food, make Hru's sword, and maybe see if we can't figure out the pedestals. THEN, I suggest seeing to the room upstairs that we bypassed.. THEN maybe we will have more information for dealing with the Revenant.

I apologize for that..I'm on my union exec board and we're in the middle of contract negotiations, so I go from having 80w gear lube dripping on my head one minute to haggling with lawyers over contract language the next...bizarre. I'll be leveled by tonight, we can go on if necessary, and I'll just use my stats as is till I level (tho I'll probably take another rank in survival which'll help our food situation)

Take your time. No need to apologize. We are one of the most prolific PbPs on the board.

"Survival DC Task: 10 Get along in the wild. Move up to one-half your
overland speed while hunting and foraging (no food or water supplies needed). You can provide food and water for one other person for every 2 points by which your check result exceeds 10."
It doesn't really mention how long it would take to find the food. I'm thinking that if you 'take 10' on your survival check, I'll roll 1d6+1 to determine how long you need to hunt for this to work. Otherwise, you can make a survival check each hour to find a day's worth of food for 1 or more people. ... Every hour you are out there, there is a chance of a random monster encounter. ... If and when you are ready, have at it. Who's going down? Clareg can go. Hru? Rellios? I know Klyndak said he was working on your Great Sword, which will truly be great sword -- forged from metal smelted for 500 years by a fire elemental, heated on the embers of that elemental (which have yet to cool, BTW), and pounded on an artifact of Dwarven myth and legend.

What he said. I have a +7 now and with level and 1 rank it brings me to a (Bear Grylls-like) +9 in Survivalso taking 10 would yield a days worth of food for 4 people/hr spent? (algebra)
I was thinking a days worth per 1d6+1 hours spent. But then you'll have Clareg and Rellios working at it too.
Tarren the Dungeon Master
Clareg has +7 for Survival. Taking 10, in 1d6+1 hours he should be able to round up 3 days rations with Hru rounding up 4 days rations. Rellios can lay in 2 days rations for every 1d6+1 hours out there. So, after 4 hours out there, you have managed to scrape together some fish and small game.
From outside the spire, you are able to see the spires much more clearly. The bridge between the second spire and the third spire has also been destroyed but the bridge between the third and the fourth is in good condition. Between the second and the third spires hangs the largest spider web you've ever seen. You even see the clear outline of a dire bat trapped in it. From here you can spot at least five spiders as large as horses.
The first spire seems to be the most inhabited. Unlike the other spires, it has several bridges running to the rock face.
A river runs between the first and second spire.
DC 15 Knowledge (undead?)
Vampires cannot travel of their own volition over running water.
The valley is lightly forested. Tracks of various creatures, including some humanoid, can be found in the soft mud near the river. Snow has recently fallen but winter has not set in yet. These are mountains but they border on the Cinderlands and will only get a month or two of really cold weather.
Anything else you want to know about the spires while you are out here?
Klyndak
Are we going to spend a whole week laying by food while I work? Or do we want to just move on. Personally, I think it would be better story wise and game wise to take the week.
Klyndak labors hard on the forge. When he is done for the day, he examines the runes on the floor and the pedestals some more, trying such things as standing on the runes and speaking the names of the items on the pedastals, and reaching atop the pedastals to see if he can grab things off the pedestals.
Taking 20 on the Appraise of the pedestals and runes if possible. (Total 29)
Tarren the Dungeon Master
There are dangers in the valley; the characters have not yet encountered any. There are also dangers remaining in the spire, especially if you are in there alone. These are two arguments for drawing the time out. Another reason might be that the other party is very close and could come knocking at any point. They could also take several weeks. Depends on which direction they go after their next battle. If you feel it would be boring to hunt, fish, and be hunted and haunted while we wait to see how the other party goes, I will understand and we could skip over some things...
Klyndak
OOC: I think we should take the week, deal with any encounters, and then move on, on our own. We're doing pretty well and the other party is still over two months away.
Also, I am pretty well able to flee any dangers that might threaten me while I am alone. I can leap from the balcony for one thing using feather fall if I have to.
Hru Gorumgrag
Hp roll:hit die (1d8=8) It appears life in the wilds of the Foemammer spires agrees with Hru (it's only a matter of time before the electronic dice turn on me again)+1 for CON and +1 favored class = 10
Hru Gorumgrag
I'm all set there....enemies beware Extra turning! 2 more channels/day! Gorum is with me! inflict LW 1/day, enlarge 1/day
In the days that follow Hru atunes to Gorum's will as he never has before, perhaps it is the isolation in the wild or the trials he has faced or his steadfast dedication the the Iron Lord, but he feels the might of Gorum welling within his chain clad breast.

Are you trying to make a Masterwork greatsword or a greatsword? A masterwork greatsword is probably going to take closer to 6 or 7 weeks to complete. A greatsword would probably take one or two.
I've finally got around to reading the rules for craft (weapon).
After one week, you will need to make a craft, weaponsmithing check for the week's work (no taking 20 or taking 10 but you can add the +5 for the anvil as well as your weaponsmith ranks so you should be pretty good).
If the check succeeds (DC 20 for masterwork; DC 15 for a standard greatsword), multiply the check by the 20 to get the value of the item completed in silver pieces.
Are you trying for a greatsword or a masterwork greatsword? A Masterwork greatsword has a value of 3500sp. So, even if you succeeded each week, it could still take 8 weeks. A standard greatsword has a value of 500sp, so it would probably take no more than 2 weeks.
If you fail a check by 4 or less, you make no progress this week.
If you fail by 5 or more, you ruin half the raw materials and have to pay half the original raw material cost again.

Just a regular Greatsword is sufficient:
Crafting Check + Skill +Anvil +Tools: (1d20+9+5+2=35) Woot! - A good roll :)
DC=15
35x15 = 525!!!
I can make the Sword in a Week!
And in 1 Week, we should have almost five extra days worth food stored up. - is that right?
Tarren the Dungeon Master
A couple of encounters during the week. At one point during the week, hunting party sees a group of giants travelling along one of the mountain ridge. They are too far away to make immediate contact with and I assume that is for the best.
Another time during the week, a boar the hunters are chasing runs out into a clearing. Before you can follow it, 8 spears come flying through the air. The creatures that follow look like gnolls at first, with their humanoid gait but canine features. When they come out into the clearing, however, you see that they are much less unkept than gnolls and the resemble less jackels than long-haired domesticated canines. They move not with military precision but with more of a pack-like cooperativeness. They pick up the boar on the points of their spears and head back into the forest without a word. They do seem to have noticed you but pay you no mind.
Near the end of the week, however, the hunters have your first dangerous encounter. While you have been following a buck, you realize you are in turn being followed. You manage to catch a glance of three ogres attempting to be stealthy but they have yet to realize that you know they are there.

9 days rations / 1d6+1 hours out there. Even if they only hunt once a day for a few hours, at the end of a week, there will be 63 days rations. Divided by four party members, that equals 16 days rations. The snow is coming, however. It will be harder to find food in mid-winter.
Hru Gorumgrag
As greatly overconfidant as I feel, with the new level and all I'm not sure we 3 can take 3 ogres...at least not all at once. What say you Rellios, do we run or Fight? If Clareg and I charge, it could be that you could eliminate one by dropping a major sneaker. I can juice everyone with a strength surge(+1 for 1 attack within 3 rnds), and bless and cast magic weapon on my hammer, + I can get angry, they won't like me when I'm angry. I must admit I rarely want to bak away when I can charge..but I digress...
EDIT: Wait! wait! it get's better! I can Enlarge myself after the bless and magic weapon then go into rage..those ogres don't stand a chance

Meanwhile, back in the dungeon, Klyndak has another dilemna. On a daily basis, the risk of being haunted by one or more haunts occurs. (Haunts recharge until successfully turned and they can only be turned when they are active.) As long as you stay at the forge level, the Forgepriest haunt is the only one you need to worry about. Unfortunately, it is one that specifically targets you (as a fellow smith). Each day, make a DC 15 Will Save. Failure means 1d6 points of damage plus 1 point of wisdom damage. You will recover 1 point of wisdom damage each day as long as you make the successful save for that day.
This shouldn't be too dangerous but a string of unsuccessful saves and cumulative wisdom damage and Klyndak could get a bit jittery.
