The skull seems enchanted with some minor illusory magic.

OK - so it looks like a nice paperweight ;-)

Rellios wrote:

Wow. Actually, that's exactly what it is. A thousand year old drow paperweight ... well, parchment weight really ... made from semi-precious stone. It will fetch up to 2000gp from some rich idiot in Magnimar.

Male Dwarf Transmuter 5

So are we all agreed on going down first?

LOL - who knew, eh? My bet was on either crystal ball or paperweight. Suddenly, Rellios is seeing $$$! ;-)

"I'd like to think we're a bit stronger and well-fed than we were last time. Hopefully we have a measure of what we face this time. Still...I won't say I'm not a little scared," Rellios finishes sheepishly.

I reply to my fellow dwarf, "I can be givin' you a bit o' a boost iffin ye be wantin'. A simple spell and ye can be attackin' that misfortunate soul from beyond 'er reach. And iffin the priest be doin' the same fer 'imself then the two o' ye can be tearin' 'er apart in short order. I'll even draw 'er out fer ye. "

sounds like a plan (the going downstairs thing) How about that geatsword? Do Ifeel any fiery destruction about to burst out?

After getting some food and rest, Hru tries out the great blade, in a series of unsettling devotions to Gorum, laughing like a madman the whole time. Hru then sheaths the mighty weapon and goes over to Klyndak, and bowing before him says "Sir Klyndak I am forever indebted to you and all your kin, you have to but say the word, and I will make it so. "Yoosin havin the life-debt with theesin?" sorry I couldn't resist...this is all so Jar Jar like gold cannot repay the kindness you have shown, may Gorum's strength be with you all your days." then turning bows to Rellios and Clareg, "and without you, it would not have been possible to regain Gorum's favor...I would call you all my brothers...only one so called seems to find himself separated from life awaiting Gorum's judgement...HOO hOO!"

Male Elven Rogue/Fighter (1/1)

Rellios gives Hru an amused look. "Well, thanks for your healing powers and the honors you've bestowed. But let me just say sometimes you're one crazy sonnva' b~~~%, Hru. Doesn't bother me, just saying."

MALE!! Dwarf!! Fighter Level 3

"Now that big'n'ugly's got 'iz sword back, can we get back to a 'ackin' and a slashin' nasties?"

As soon as Hru expresses his pleasure, the room warms and glows. All present hear a voice:

"I sought to forge a mighty hammer,
All to please a dwarven lord,
But now my quest has been fulfilled,
with the gift of this greatsword."

A sudden snap and a coolness fills the air as the embers that have burnt nonstop for a week suddenly die.

Male Elven Rogue/Fighter (1/1)

Yeah! It's an epic moment for Hru, Klyndak, and the forging of the greatsword. ***Choir of Angels sing*** ;-)

Sarcastic bastard. "Oh poor me. I fought evil salamanders and ogres and all I got was this dumb paperweight." ;-)

...and I will love it and squeeze it and call it George. :-))

(I hope somebody remembers that from the old Bugs Bunny cartoons.)

Seriously, awesome moment of achievement, guys. Things looked grim for awhile there; glad to see we seem to be getting our bearings back.

I'm probably not going to be online much in the next 9 hours but will try to be. Tell me your intentions.

m Half-orc Cleric/Barbarian 4/1

I think we'e going down, safely killing the undead hag (as safely as doing so can be anyway) then removing the jewels and tiny skeleton from the well (perhaps cutting the chain in the process), before taking a crack at the unopened door with the scraping sound

Male Elven Rogue/Fighter (1/1)

Agreed - that's the plan. I'll add that I'll take 20 on searching the area (minus the one room we haven't entered) for any further hidden spots and such - assuming there's no rush after combat and that we all still live.

Male Dwarf Transmuter 5

Yes... Except for the cutting the chain part *shudder*.

I'll cast enlarge on Clareg and Hru can enlarge himself and then we'll try to draw the woman out and they can attack her with a 10' reach.

m Half-orc Cleric/Barbarian 4/1

Funny you should mention the reach, it had completely slipped my mind, and when I was describing the ogre battle to my 8 yr old and the part about enlarging, he asked it I did it for the reach (we play D&D minis all the time...well the 3.5 version at least)I was a bit nonplussed at his tactical thinking..at 8. We could leave the chain part out I guess, just thinking it might break the curse.

I'm away from home and away from your pre-rolled initiatives. If I understand this correctly, Klyndak is going to lure her out and then try to dodge back to the elevator. This will require winning initiative. Otherwise, she'll have a chance to try to grab you. Roll for initiative.

Male Dwarf Transmuter 5

;) I was going to try and lure her out from the safety of the elevator shaft first.

But if that does not work I go to the door of the sauna room and call out and if that does not work then and only then do I approach the well.

Initiative: (1d20+1=3)

m Half-orc Cleric/Barbarian 4/1

it's irrelevant..but we're the 7th most prolific pbp on paizo...and actually the top pbp's are over a year old...we''l soon overtake them...muhahahahaha!

Iffin we be livin' so long... *grumph*

Klyndak inches closer to the well but the wailing woman remains just below the lip until he gets close enough to see. She then lashes out with her talon like fingers slashing one of his legs but missing the other badly. 13 points of damage.

Hru Gorumgrag wrote:

Actually, Heathy's Saltmarsh campaign is more prolific. Not that I've ever checked. hehe.

m Half-orc Cleric/Barbarian 4/1

Hru draws his sword and calling forth the power of Gorum channels a burst of positve energy into the room. "Gorum, take this one unto you!"

channel positive Dc:13 (1d6=6) I only rested, and while it stands to reason I would have healed myself and anyone else last night, I didn't say so..doh! tho I'm taking 3 for last night so 15 - (3+6) = I'm still down 6 from full

As Hru summons the power of Gorum, the wailing woman shrieks in fear and attempts to slip back into the well. But, of course, Rellios, Clareg, and Klyndak may have their actions first.

I'm playing over there as the cleric, and I can tell you that whole pages will fly by before I can take an action. Whew! That one's a whole mess of fun in a different way. I think it's our sheer numbers.

Rellios jumps in with the magical paperweight to smite her....kidding! I assume flanking is in effect.

Rellios jumps in with the magical shortspear to take a crack at her. Short Spear (1d20+2+2+1+2=10) Damage (1d6+3=4)

Male Dwarf Transmuter 5

I waste no time trying to attack the woman this close to the well but follow my plan and run back towards the elevator shaft.

"Be makin' 'er follow us," I yell at Rellios, wondering why they all decided to creep along behind me.

m Half-orc Cleric/Barbarian 4/1

I just wanted to heal Klyndak and myself, I naturally thought she wouldn't be turned, apparently the dice thought otherwise.

Hru mumbles a chant to Gorum beseeching him to empower his blade againts this foe.

Cast Magic weapon on the greatsword then move back preparing to enlarge when she shows her ugly mug. I have another "negotiating" day today (more like bend over) so I may be sporadic....if I get fed up I may just leave early...always a good option on a friday, and, in which case I'll be more verbose than ever

Hru Gorumgrag wrote:

In addition to Saltmarsh, Dark Sun was in hiatus because the DM was beating cancer - and with 11 players who post daily and a few who post 3-10 times daily.... never. Dead Reckoning is roughly 15% slower and started about the same time as Foehammer.

:p

Bravado aside, nice game you guys have here.

The wailing woman has slipped back below the surface of the water, shaking with rage and fear. The warm spring water cools as it comes in contact with her dead flesh again.

You guys know the score combat wise. Ring her doorbell and run away. All I need to know is who is not back at the iron cage when her doorbell rings and what their initiative is. ... I know Hru was trying to help with his channel positive energy but she blew her save and things got knocked back to square one. Lucky for Klyndak though, she missed her grapple.

Male Elven Rogue/Fighter (1/1)

Rellios will stay back and see if he can get some shots in with the magic shortspear. Let me know if you need a roll or two.
Crazy day for me. My posting may be sporadic today; we'll see.

Yeah, Hru's fated for big things. ;-) ... Now, who's going to ring the doorbell and what's your initiative roll?

How's this:Initiative (1d20+3=21)

Barring any other suggestions, Rellios will do his best to taunt the cold hag into chasing him.

Heeheh ... that was close.

The wailing woman launches herself from the well and claws for the elf screaming "Dark elf. Dark elves behind it all!"

She chases Rellios all the way to the iron cage.

Make at least two rounds of attacks.

You too. Of course, she will have a penalty to attack but she will stand a chance at anyone who has the same reach as her.

Male Dwarf Transmuter 5

I hold back from attacking to see how well the two enlarged warriors do against the undead dwarf. If they appear to be having too much difficulty, then I will take further actions in a few seconds.

MALE!! Dwarf!! Fighter Level 3

Clareg strikes twice with his waraxe against the prone hag from beyond her reach. Both attacks hit. 13 pts damage + 7 pts damage.

m Half-orc Cleric/Barbarian 4/1

at last I'm back, an hellacious day if ever there was one.

Hru's body seems to bulge and stretch like an inflating balloon, for a moment making it seem like the fabric of reality is warping, then he's ogre sized again, and it looks as if he's fighting to keep a somewhat level head against a tide of raging emotion. He strikes with the precise air of holding something back, face drawn in a grimace.

attack +6 = +1 bab +4 18 StR (enlarge) +1 magic weapon spell; damage +5 = +4 STR +1 MW spell (1d20+6=26, 2d6+5=9)

Did you just crit?

m Half-orc Cleric/Barbarian 4/1

Crap!! that what kind of day I had..the I just critted, but was just happy to be hitting

threat (1d20+6=15) if I remember correctly that's a miss but i'll roll thew crit damage just in case

add +1 for MW (2d6+4=7, 2d6+4=11) A would-be 19 damage

Hru Gorumgrag wrote:

Since she's prone from being at the end of her chain, her AC is reduced so it is actually a crit. (Yeah, anger trumps self-preservation with this crazy undead freakette.) Greatsword is just x2 on a crit, right? So take the original 9 + the 7 makes a whopping 16. She's taken 29 points of damage between the two of you this round.

The wailing woman begins to shriek in such anger and grief that even the bravest warrior's would cower.

DC 16 will save or curl up in the fetal position and beg for mommy for 1d4 rounds

Male Elven Rogue/Fighter (1/1)

Rellios takes his shots, and apparently can't hit her as he backtracks away. Fortunately, he's so flustered that he doesn't seem to be distracted by her wailing.

Spear (1d20+5=8) Damage (1d6+3=7)
Spear (1d20+5=6) Nat 1...ah well.
Will (1d20+1=18)
