I feel embarrassed about this. Clareg actually rolls incredibly well in the next three rounds ... he crits twice and uses his cleave attack to finish these guys off. The little goof even gets an 18 on a heal check ... You will be waking a couple of days later.
BTW, these skeletons had a touch AC of 11 and a regular AC of 20 w/ chainmail and heavy steal shield. HP 5. Your ranged touch attack would have knocked them out.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Klyndak (unless he stabilized) is at -4 ... who wakes up first?
You awake in large marble hall with columns, stone benches, large stone double doors centered on each of the four walls. It is very cold. You are very hungry. Clareg looks relieved but exhausted when he sees your eyes open: "You're awake. I'm cold. It's snowing."

Rellios |

Well, I was at -2 when the dwarves went in for the rescue. So how long would it take me to get back up to consciousness?
If I am the first up, let's assume that I'll let Clareg get some rest. If a fire's necessary, I should still have some oil and tinder to start a fire...if it's deemed safe.
Next step would be, assuming Clareg updates me, is to see if I can get the healing wand to work. I'll give myself, Klyndak, Hru and Clareg (if necessary) a hit - trying to make sure none of us are hurt in the process. Let me know if you need rolls. Also, what about trail rations? Would they still be viable - I know I had some.
Got to step away for a little while. Let me know if what I have done sounds OK.

Kannonfodder |

When everyone awakes, Clareg relates the events of the past few days. He barely managed to bring the three bodies inside the hall before the new army reached the spire. He barred the doors and, other than some curious knocking and such, no one has bothered trying to get in.
The evening of the arrival of the Breakbones, he opened the doors an crack and witnessed a curious ceremony that he didn't fully understand. A particularly nasty looking hobgoblin who he took to be a commander was forced down on his knees by two other goblins with spears. The Creep descended from the stairs and asked questions to the commander which, when he refused to answer, resulted in a command to the goblins behind him. They pierced him with their spears but the hobgob spun around and grabbed one goblins spear, stabbed in up under his head and lifted him in the air. While holding him aloft, The Creep leapt up onto the goblin hanging from the spear and started to bite and drink at the kicking and squirming body. Blood spurted everywhere over the crowd of assembled goblins as they proclaimed their loyalty to The Creep. There was not a dry eye in the house, by which I mean, blood got in everyone's eyes. Blood everywhere. It was nasty.
It began to snow that night. New huts were built.
He took to opening the door enough to gather some snow and then closing them again. He melts the snow and boils it in one of the skeletal guards helmets and mashes your rations into a soup.
"I don't know if I did ya any favours. We're trapped on one side and those three doors are locked. That one, I'd keep shut 'cause I hear somethin' tapping on it. ... something big. They took the bridge away and unless Rellios can work his magic on the locks, we're trapped in this room. The food's running out and it is getting colder. ... I've been ... I haven't been ... I've been losin' my faith, frankly. Never been in anything so deep."

Hru Gorumgrag |

As much as it pains him Hru cracks a smile, he's encrusted with blood from wounds and no ones ever seen a shade of green this pale his normally sinuous physique looking a bit drawn under the battered armor. "Your not the only one, heh...ow!" He grabs his ribs and his breath rattles out of his chest. "I've lost the favor of Gorum...his token lies somewhere in those accursed halls back there" he gestures towards the doors. "Be there any weapons of use here?" he askes glumly casting his gaze about the room.

Rellios |

Despite his fatigue and headaches, Rellios smiles and says, "My thanks for your aid and protection, Clareg. Don't lose hope; the fact that we've made it this far is a sign of the gods blessing. We'll make it somehow."
"There were moments there when I thought for sure that my death was imminent...but perhaps this is a chance to start anew."
Use magic device rolls, as needed for the wand. Assuming it heals, as mentioned, how much are we talking with each charge? Use Device (1d20+6=22) (1d20+6=12) (1d20+6=21) (1d20+6=9)

Hru Gorumgrag |

seems like I should be able to use a hammer since I have Craft:weaponsmith, but a thought just occurred to me. If I level in Barbarian it makes more sense: Hru would revert to his savage upbringing when faced with this survival situtation and then there's no Gorum dilemma. I just can't cast the divine focus spells or turn/heal till I can get my sword back or get a new holy symbol, I'll just have to Bless water for any undead we come across till then
Hru smiles again weakly and says "I'll try anything to be have'n vengeance, but I'm no stranger to the forge, if a hammer of battle is anything like to that of the smithy."

Rellios |

Assuming, based on Clareg's comments, I am under the impression that there are three doors beside the big ones we came in.
If our entrance is south; assuming that the other three are (left to right) W, N, E walls.
Assuming centered on each wall. Which one has the tapping coming from it?
Rellios will give the three other doors a once over to look for traps first. I would take 20 if we can spare the time; or would a Perception check be preferred for this action?

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

There are four double doors, one on each wall. I will get the map up later. Rellios does not find any traps on any of these but three of them are locked. The one you came through had its lock breached in ancient days. As failing would have a penalty, can he 'take 20' on his search for traps? I'm at work and don't have my books. He can take 20 on his open locks.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

"My thanks, friend Clareg, yer an 'onor ta yer family."
Hru can use the magic +1 shortspear if Rellios doesn't really want it.
"Ya say that now but ... I'm more than a little scared. What the 'ell are we gonna eat?! Ya know, I can sometimes smell the stuff they're cooking across the bridge and it is foul but I'd even eat the goblins food if'n I could. But they've removed the logs and trapped us here. I don't know why that vampire hasn't come after us but he ne'er did. This place was built by dwarves and I can understand that they might not be wantin' to try to take us on and if'n they didn't know you three were snoozing they mighta been thinkin' that it was better to starve us out. I been thinkin' they might be right on that count. What the 'ell are we gonna do?"

Klyndak |

"I was carrying enough food from the barge ta last me fer a month. That's a week fer each of us if we make it last. Clareg ye've got yer pack too, there should be some food in that. I say that we 'eal ourselves wit' that wand. Torag 'elps those that 'elps themselves Clareg and ye've done good. Don't be losin yer faith. When Rellios and Hru are ready, we be 'avin' a look in some of these 'alls. Mayhap there'll be somethin' that will aid us agin the gobbos outside and that blood-sucker that be leadin' them."
EDIT: I notice I didn't write on the character sheet, but I do recall sayin when we left the barge I took a months worth of food for myself. That should leave 26 days worth of food left. I guess I can be sharing. ;)

Klyndak |

Take a minute to remove some of your arrows from your equipment list.
I've been knocking them off as I use them. Big question to me - at the end of two days, are we at full hit-points. Hru, once awake, can use the wand without fear of failure.
"Rellios, I know ye were takin' that wand first, but it may be doin' more good with Hru."

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

By all means, spend the wand on getting everyone up to full hit points. Of course, Hru has permanently lost a point of constitution.
A couple of notes from behind the screen, the module said that The Creep was not fully aware of his awesome powers and would avoid killing his meals for fear of turning them into vampires. This saved Hru. Also, I would have had no qualms about letting you guys die, as much fun as this has been, but Clareg rolled a 20, 18, 20, 16 immediately after Klyndak went down. Every hit was a kill against the 6 hp skeletons.
Also, you may find this spire to be very interesting. I quite like it for this party.

Hru Gorumgrag |

I'll gladly heal all of us, if Rellios is ok with that I'll go around Clareg, Rellios, Klyndak then myself till we're at full...I rolled a 2 on my hit die roll (but get 1 from con and 1 from favored class) pathetic but hey..I live!! pending Rellios: Hru take the wand and starts doling out CLW's, then stretching and doing a few combat moves he sits down and begins to pray.
Clw charges (1d8+1=2, 1d8+1=5, 1d8+1=9, 1d8+1=2, 1d8+1=6, 1d8+1=8, 1d8+1=4, 1d8+1=4, 1d8+1=8, 1d8+1=9, 1d8+1=5, 1d8+1=8) Clareg=16 Rellios=22 Klyndak=18 Hru=14

Rellios |

I will defer the wand to Hru, if that will help us. I just stated I would use it to get us all back awake and somewhat healthy quicker than normal. After that, I welcome the cleric using it as needed.
I have noted a deduction in the number of arrows I have already used. I'm about at half (20 from 40). Also, I'll scratch my two days worth of rations if it will help extend our food supply - assuming it hasn't already done so.
As soon as we are deemed healthy - I'll try to unlock the doors to our west first (barring any suggestions from the rest of the party). Also, that's assuming that it's not the ones with the knocking noises. Taking 20, if that sounds workable.

Klyndak |

I would guess I still need another 12 hp.
I marked down 26 days of food as remaining in my pack. If we wait two days to allow Rellios and Hru to level, I'll mark off another 8 days worth from it.
Other than that I'm ready to go further in whenever everyone else is. Might I suggest that Hru take some skill points in Survival. Seems practical at this point. Also what was our exp again? ;) I want to see how close to 3rd we are.
As the others prepare themselves to go further in, I meditate upon the forces of magic. And food. I meditate upon the forces of magic and acquiring food. And vampires. I meditate upon the forces of magic, acquiring food and how to kill vampires.

I really have to remember to look that up at home. You guys were around 2750 after the vampire, I think.
Klyndak's Augury Dice will be ready to go one week after you entered the spires. Let's see, Hru was in the vampire cave 2 days. You were here unconscious for about 2 days. Hru and Rellios spend 2 days levelling up at least. I'd say you should be able to use them before you start moving again.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Klyndak:
There are four, four-sided bone dice. Words are written so that when they are thrown, the words around the base of each one will be the same.
These are the words:
WHO die: Ally / Enemy / Self / Other
WHAT die: Danger / Reward / Power / Food
WHERE die: Near / Far / Up / Down
WHEN die: Never / Now / Soon / Future
Also, in the center of each triangle, the other words appear so that while one word could be at the base, the side facing you will display another word as well.
When you found them, they read:
WHO die: Self (Enemy)
WHAT die: Danger (Power)
WHERE die: Near (Far)
WHEN die: Soon (Now)
So the goblin witch read that as saying "Self Danger Near Soon // Enemy Power Up Now"

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Does a question need asked or does one just throw the dice?
Best to both ask a question and draw a circle on the floor. Dice that bounce out of the circle are irrelevant. More central dice are more important and effects the order of the word. You will also get a sense of how correct your interpretation is.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Rellios opens the door without great difficulty. It is a simple lock when he takes his time.
There is a short corridor that opens up into a room 30'x15'. In the center of the room is a cage of iron that hangs on chains and a pulley system embedded deeply into the ceiling. The cage allows you to see out on all sides. A winch within the cage is designed to allow the cage to be raised or lowered from within.

Klyndak |

Hru, At the end of your two days of training, I am still down 8 hp. I would like to face the next vampire fully prepared :D
I let Rellios take the lead in examing the cage and the room.
Meanwhile...
"Let's be leavin' our food 'n beddin' in this room and be comin' back to it after we explore a ways. Its been safe enough thus far."

Rellios |

"Also, Elf, I be thinkin' it might be a good idea ter be opening both doors wherein there is no knockin'. Jest so we be knowin' what our options are."
"Fair enough, if you don't mind me taking my time."
Rellios will again take 20, and open the lock on the other set of doors where there was no knocking (N or E?).
I'll wait to see where we want to head before making any decisions on checking the first room's interior.

The map isn't on a North/South grid ... The door without the knocking would be SouthEast but let's call it East for simplicity.
Opening that door reveals a long stone table engraved with dwarven runes and heraldry. Though some have been chipped or broken, 12 sturdy stone chairs surround the table.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

"Let's be searchin' the room wit' the table first. Perhaps it holds clues as ta this 'alls purpose."
If it is agreed, I will allow Rellios to sweep the room for traps. Meanwhile, I check for magical aura's.
Cast Detect Magic after Rellios has done his sweep of a room.
You do not detect any magic. Actually, correction, Clareg's chainmail gives off a magical aura. He gathered it off of the skeleton guard as it was better than what he'd been wearing.

Hru Gorumgrag |

even though I was training I could have cast 2 CLW/day (so's to save the healy stick) Invisible castle seems to be down (I can't get it anyway so I'll roll in the morning) and I agree we do post fast and furious! that's minimum of 8 right there but I'll still roll on the morrow I'll fix up Klyndak right quick, Ihave to udate my sheet yet too (but my maptool game was today-we're close to the end of "Burnt Offerings") RPG24-7

Hru Gorumgrag |

I was going to ask that also, is there any more armor or weapons from the skeletons? I bet I could fit into dwarf chain as Chain shirt, they're burly and their torsos aren't much shorter than a half orc...really! if there is a suitable weapon and shield I'll consider them otherwise I guess Rellios' spear for now Hru looks around for armor and a weapon

"You were sleepin' at the time but I saw that only the one mess o' chain was not all tarnished up and worn out. Me axe was choppin' chain apart as it flew! I'll gladly let you squeeze into me old chain shirt, though if you be needin' it."

The skeletons also carried warhammers which would be useable. There are four of them so if they wear out (they are quite ancient) you could just replace it.
snicker snicker ... wait until you see what them gobbos do to your great sword!... snicker snicker

"Sounds fine." Rellios steels himself, and then gingerly enters the room to look for traps or anything else noticeable about the room. He's keeping his ears up for any noise that might be noteworthy.
He'll start with the perimeter, before focusing on the central table and it's chairs.
