Okay, that would mean only Ovirid got seared by the cone. heheh. Ovirid, you should have worn a necklace of porkchops. Lunch would be ready by now.

Wait, wasn't he scouting ahead?

Ah, so he was. But looking at the map, the tunnel is pretty short. The furthest away any of them could be is 20'.

That's a good one. Glad you are enjoying this so much. I'll be over here blowing out the flames while I wait for my initiative number to come up.

Round 1

Sir Manfred will pass (waiting for a target).

Anyone want to act for Yin this round?

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:

How about this?

Spoiler:
Seeing the gout of flame nearly broil the stubborn ol' dwarf, Yin steps to get a clear angle and unleashes some flame of her own.

Ranged Touch Attack 1d20+3=12, Damage 1d6+1=7 (fire)

Hate to burn someone else's spells...

Thanks, AinvarG. Master of Flame, I don't think that hits you.

As Yin and Ovirid concentrate on the fire-wielding kobold in front of them, a commotion erupts behind them.

Four skinny little half-sized kobolds scamper out. One is attempting to slip past Manfred and head towards the entrance of the caves. Two of them stop and point in surprise at Yin and her hands of flame. The last one carries a small spear that is far too large for him. He attempts to attack with it but knocks another one of the little kobolds over instead.

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer [Draconic] 3

Janrith bellows "A kobold! Kill it!"

He fires his crossbow at the closest attacker, taking a 5ft step if necessary to avoid an AoO.

1d20+3 = 8.

"Well that wasn't a very good shot."

If we're positioned like I expect, you just fired at one of the kobold kids, I believe.

I'm a little bothered about attacking what appears to be another PC in the making. If it weren't, Ovirid would be out to finish the fight (he's not necessarily aware of the wee ones yet), but that's what I'll do. My apologies in advance if he's more successful than he's supposed to be. ;-)

"What're ye about, back there? What's all the ruckus?" Preferring melee, the dwarf will set his loaded crossbow on the ground (move action, I presume) and step forward as he draws/readies his pick and shield. (move action #2)

Looking at the kobold, he says, "Yer gonna 'ave ta do better than that, lizardskin. That's fer bein' twice you were fer attackin' meself 'n Ah aven't done nothin' ta ye - yet. What 'ave ye got to say fer yerself?"

Ovirid is thinking that the kobold is unarmed and a spellcaster besides, he will risk the AOO to move past and hopefully trap the mage against a wall. Trying to choose a position so the lizardskin can't take a 5' step and cast another spell without risking an AOO of his own.

Think of this more as a guest appearance.

Oooh. Licks finger and marks a tally in midair.

Master of Flame, I believe you are up (unless Manfred has chosen to stop his delaying on the mini-mes rushing past him.

Master of Flame, your turn.

Shield Bash for nonleathal damage: (1d20+6=23, 1d4+3=5)

That keeps all the little ones together.

I should be back by the New Year. Very sorry for the delay.

December 27th? Missed being name Noel by that much, eh? Come backs soon, it's your turn. ;-)

Hey all, sorry about the delay....
The kobold smiles slightly and waves his hands in a mesmerizing pattern (not literally), and speaks odd words. Suddenly, Sir Manfred feels a cold, irrational fear take hold of him....
Cause Fear, a Will Save 13 indicates that you're shaken for 1 round, otherwise you're frightened for 4 rounds.

I'm looking forward to this next part whether Manfred makes the save or not. Third times a charm, Sir Manfred?

Male Human Cavalier L1-- AC 18-(T10-F18) | hp 13/13| F4, R0, W2 | Init+0 | Percep +0 | Status: OK

Will save vs. Fear: (1d20+1=18)

Sir Manfred turns pale and trembles for a moment before throwing off the unnatural fear...

Looks like he's shaken for one round...

Yes, give it a day and if she doesn't manage to swing by, act for her again. Yin sometimes gets busy.

Fer da lovely Yin:

Still avoidin' usin' 'er spells, if'n Ah can, usin' 'er elemental ray
Attack 1d20+3=10, Damage 1d6+1=4, but the dice 'r not bein' kind.

It's been a while and I'm not clear in reviewing the posts -- was I able to move up to Master of Flame on my turn, as intended? If so, was I entitled to an attack of opportunity when he cast the Cause Fear spells?

Not sure if this is an 'oops' or not. I certainly forgot about it but I think Master of Flame would have been able to take a 5' step back. His back would now be against the wall.

Perfectly reasonable - there was a bit o' lag after the intention was stated. Re: Janrith, I'm not sure what Jal Dorak's intentions are. He posted in the Discussion area and it sounded like he was scaling back his pbp quite a bit. Have you spoken to him?

Re: Jal Dorak. I saw his post. I guess we move on without him. I'll NPC him for now.

Janrith, furious at being poked at by kobold hatchlings kicks at one with his boot sending it flying into a wall. "Now look at what you've done, you diminutive lizard! You've scuffed the leather!"

NEW ROUND
INITIATIVE
Master of Flame (19)
Yin (18)
Manfred (12)
Janrith (10)
Ovirid (5)

Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4

Assuming that Master of Flame did indeed step back to avoid the AOO

Ovirid throws his crossbow to his shoulder and pulls the trigger at point-blank range. Just flavor text, he doesn't have the feat.

Crossbow attack: 1d20+5=18
Crossbow damage: 1d8=2

"Hah! Ye were sayin' 'bout bathin' in me blood?"

He drops his crossbow to one side as he draws his light pick and steps up to pin the creature between him and the wall. If possible, he would ready his shield, as well, but I didn't know if that would be possible in a 5' step when he doesn't have Two-Weapon Fighting.

NEW ROUND
INITIATIVE
Master of Flame (19)

Male Human Cavalier L1-- AC 18-(T10-F18) | hp 13/13| F4, R0, W2 | Init+0 | Percep +0 | Status: OK

Initiative 12: Sir Manfred

IF the little kobolds are still present, Sir Manfred will continue to act as a blocker, using nonlethal shield bash attacks
IF the little bastards got by him, he will charge attack the vile sorcerer who tried to unman him with evil sorcery.

Attack/Damage: (1d20+10=22, 1d8+4=10)

Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4

Initiative 18: Yin gives a frustrated squeak as the stupid dwarf blocks her best shot, but she tries to fire her ray around him anyway.

Elemental Ray attack 1d20+3=21, fire damage 1d6+1=2

Does the fire damage seem to be affecting the kobold sorcerer?

"How much do you like getting burned, hmm?"

----------------------------

Initiative 19: If the kobold tries to cast a spell or flee, Ovirid plans to make him pay for the attempt:

Light Pick attack 1d20+5=11, damage 1d4+1=2

but unfortunately, he is not successful in his effort.

Initiative 5: If that attack is used and he has another opportunity (following the kobold as necessary to attack, should it flee), here's another:

Light Pick attack 1d20+5=9, damage 1d4+1=5

Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week. Or will have to be, at this rate!

Actually, no. I'm currently at -4, which will continue to grow next round. Damn. Nice knowin' ya.

The kobold glares. He is about to attack again, but then he's nearly hit by the crossbow bolt. Barely dodging in time, he hisses, "GAH! You shall pay for that, dwar--augh!" He cries out as he is slashed at by the knight. "Do not...harm them..." He mutters as he collapses in a pool of blood. His limp body is then burnt by the ray of flame.
