I think the fear is for ironwork in general. If you obstruct us with a wrought iron fence, I imagine we'll just give up and go home.

I am glad that was not a pearly anvil or pearly cauldron.

hmmm.... might have just stumbled upon a RPG superstar entry...:)

Shiny, I may need you to cover my back here. Fictional Characters And Alignment.

Fakey, in response to your query, if you're having a good time DMing, I'm more than happy to continue. I might consider retiring Effan and re-rolling. If I kept Effan, I think he would be interested in improving the lot of the poor souls in Falcon's Hollow, not just saving their butts occasionally. He doesn't like the Lumber Company much.

Yes Fake I am enjoying it and would like to continue. Even continue with Hozs and his 4 int. O:) If you want to continuing DMing for us of course.

Guys, just to let you know ahead of time. I'll be away with no net access Aug 10-19.

Handle animal in pathfinder can be used the same as wild empathy in 3.5. 'Like diplomacy' is in the wild empathy description and diplomacy allows for a 1 round influence albeit at a -10. Unless this wolf is already friendly to us my 13 makes it a moot point. Much like Hozs' reasoning *grin*

This came about (for me) when dinosaurs were trying to eat parties in the STAP and druids kept diffusing the situation (more effective, less dramatic :) annoying many DMs.

Cool enough! I didn't think the penalty was that bad. Oh well, cast away and hope that Jaden doesn't charge it.

Anticlimatic but effective. I thought Faldor did well talking to the kobald until the little so and so stuck Jaden. Diplomacy is cool too. With that in mind: Sorry to nerf Hozs' chat with the wolf, but from Effan's perspective the wolf was too big a threat.

no worries, it is an ability that does not see much use in most campaigns (dungeons, cities, etc) so want to try it while I can. I too thought Faldor did a good job. of course having 'defeated' him once killing him now will not increse our xp (j/k :)

Male Troll Expert 3, Warrior 1

We could always save him from death and just kick him when we get frustrated. I know Faldor would love to do that almost as much as the Jaden and Keegan.

Terry, nice job channeling Keegan. I thought about it, but didn't feel up to the job. As for Gurtlekep, are lizardskin backpacks in now?

Male Ettin Expert 4/Wizard 4/Giant 5

i was thinking how we could keep the liard alive, but not kill it... or have to worry bout the knife in the back... bout about just puting straps thought him, and useing him like a teddy bear back pack... just with teeth and arms.... and just stuff things down it's neck

agreed--spooky but nice.

As a druid, H is opposed to baiting with live animals, so would vote no on the lizardy back pack. O:)

Guys, a reminder: I'm out from August 11th. SHould be able to post again on the 19th.

For anyone playing Effan: he's currently down to 4 hp. He's used 1 1st level spell today. Depending on circumstances, he'd probably try sleep one more time, then try to entangle the wolf or Gurtlekep using animate rope. If damage makes more sense, he's got the warwand. That's probably his best chance to contribute damage.

Once we're through this encounter, his main concern will be shrooms. Don't forget we left the one in the first room there to scoop up on the way home. One last thought -- does anyone want to try putting Gurtle's gem in the anvil?

Nah, I don't do the whole 'train for a level' thing. You get more training by surviving in a hostile environment than anything you could pay some dude in town to teach you, IMO. Just level yourselves up. If that gives anyone new spellslots they can use them to power already memorized spells or spend some time to study their spellbook and fill the slots(however long it takes in the SRD).

Aw, come on. The gem isn't that bad! It's not like it'll animate the anvil and have it attack the party or anything....hee-hee.

;P

It's nice coming back to a character upgrade. I'll get to work on it. Are we stepping up to Beta?

I didn't have any long-range plan or vision for Effan, I mostly wanted to try a sorceror. Since he's a little guy I also figured him more for support than direct firepower. He still thinks of himself as a dabbler in magic (as do I ). The upshot is he could take 'most any new spells. I was thinking one of the AC improvers, especially one that can be shared with other party members. Any suggestions for the other?

On the treasure subject; this is the biggest payday so far. Up to now its been coppers and some cool items. Everyone has just kind of picked up what they wanted. (Masterwork crossbow for Faldor is A-ok with me.) Otherwise I don't think anyone has been maintaining a group treasury. I'd be willing to, but I think the existence of such a thing is something we'll have to work out in character. I'll just point out that while I can do the book-keeping, Effan can't carry jack.

Cancel the spell excitement. I'm an idiot. I should have checked the Sorceror rules before asking. I get a new cantrip, no new spells. Well, that's why you try new classes.

The Exchange

Male Dworc (half-dwarf/half-orc) Monk4/Barbarian2/Rogue2/Jack-of-all-Trades2/Master of None2/Quasi-diety2

Yeah, we'll step up to Beta. I am still having trouble remembering skill changes and all though so kinda keepin' it loose.....
I am gonna let you all decide what to do about treasure and the division thereof but someone needs to keep track of what you gain.
Don't worry about if you think your PC choice is sub par. Once the module is over(soon) I am gonna give everyone who wants to continue on a chance to either retire their character and start a new PC with the same amount of wealth or to change their existing PC into something similar to what they have already. I want everyone to have a chance to feel out the new rules as much as possible and not feel shackled to a PC choice forever.
Also as an aside, the HIDE SHIRT armor wasn't included in the Beta or the Campaign book but it will be available in our campaign. It is Light armor, +4 ac, +4 Max Dex, -3ACP, %20ASF, cost 90 GP, and weighs 25lbs.
Basically feel free to use any Pathfinder specific items. Earthbreakers, starknives, klars, scarves, etc. are all fine with me.

M Draco Electricus author 2, herper 4, canine exerciser 9,

I have not tried for the beta version, can someone tell me quickly if there are changes to the druid? I will try and get levelled later this week...

Welcome back, Shiny. Yes, we are going beta. Welcome to second level.

Fakey, its not that I think Effan is sub-par. I was mistakenly flashing on the wizard's 2 new spells per level. So finding out that I only learn a cantrip was a (temporary) let-down. I also noticed that the arcane bloodline's 3rd level power can't be used until 4th level. So Effan's got a couple of slow levels, but I think 4th will be a real breakout for him.

For now I am enjoying the higher number of spells cast per day and the freedom from memorizing spells. The wand is cool too, gives him a good combat option.

Guys, I'll be out of touch Saturday through Monday. Just so you know.

I'll try to level Effan before I go.

finally getting around to leveling up and my PF is corrupted. It will not display an pictures (which the level tables all are). Any one have the changes for a druid going from 1st to 2nd level?

I have one cure light left so before bed, I can cast it on the one person who needs it the most or give everyone 3 hp. Any requests?

Effan's in pretty good shape. The fighter's got roughed up a bit. I'd check them.

Male Gnome Sor 2 EP:?

Just finished levelling Effan. Really Lucked Out on hit points. It feels kind of weird. I've had fighters with fewer hit points at 2nd level.

Also reworked his skills to fit PF Beta. (Oops, I hadn't gotten to it before.) Being limited to 4 skill points instead of 16 really gutted the smorgasboard approach to skill (Especially knowledge) selection I had taken when building him in 3.5. The only class skill he had at first level was craft(cobbler). On the other hand, for second level to simulate his growing interest in this magic thing, I added two class skills Use Magic Device and Spellcraft and now he looks like an instant expert in those. I also put 2 points back in "useless" cross class knowledge to recover some of the original character concept.

2nd level hit points (1d6+1=7)

Darkmoon Vale map. Nah, no waterfalls to worry about.....that was further up the River Foam than where your leg of river connect to the Foam. The walking distance would seem to offer a quicker route because of the thickness of the forest and having to skirt the lake, and accounting for a rain-swollen river that is running faster than usual, you are gonna make some really quick time on the logs. Just make sure you have some way to steer(oars, poles, rudder....).
