Male Human Rogue 1

Jaku lands well and keeps going, trying to cut their quarry off before he can slip into the city streets and disappear. He runs, with some slipping and sliding, across the next boat, the pier, ANOTHER barge, and throws himself across the scum-covered water to land (hopefully) in a position to catch the fleeing man.

Round 2 Summary

Samir Kharsus runs across his raft, the next barge, and jumps to the next boat, stopping at [F22].

Sight-based Perception check DC 15 (Jaku & Bedu DC 10):

Spoiler:
As Samir jumps to the next boat, he stops and seems to start fighting with something invisible in the air.

DC 20 (Jaku & Bedu DC 15):
Spoiler:
A closer look reveals that Samir appears to be entangled in some kind of iridescent webbing.

"Look around miss," Skittle yells and offers his hand to the halfling. "There's nowhere to go. We just want to talk. Come back up here & I'll make sure longshanks here doesn't hurt you again. I'll even get a cleric to heal your wound." (Diplomacy roll 17+1=18)

"You need not risk drowning with that wound... Surrender!" Liet says. (Diplomacy roll 28)

The halfling swims to [E7] and pauses, treading water and looking back at Skittle and Liet. “What do you want from me?” she yells back. “I didn’t do anything to you!”
You can continue talking to her, but note that successful Diplomacy takes 1 minute of continuous interaction to influence a person’s attitude. If you do something else, you will automatically fail.

Jaku makes his way across the rubbish-strewn barge (Acrobatics (balance) roll 15+4=19) and onto the next one. As he crosses this barge, he triggers some sort of theft-deterrent. With a sharp TWANG an arrow fires, embedding itself in his arm (Attack roll 18; 2 points of damage). Shrugging off the pain, he runs across the adjacent pier and onto the next barge.

As Jaku’s weight makes the barge bob in the water, a drunken sailor staggers out from amongst the crates, shouting curses. “I ain’t goin’ back on that f#$@in’ garbage scow!” he slurs and swings a meaty fist at Jaku’s head (Attack roll 22; 3 points of non-lethal damage). Jaku is at [F15], the sailor is at [E15].
Jaku, you’ve only taken a move action so far. You can make an attack of opportunity against the sailor, as well as a standard action if you wish. Or you can ignore him and try to move past him (provoking an attack of opportunity), and make your jump using your last roll.

Bedu attempts to climb the wall of crates again, but is unable to make any progress (First move action: Climb roll 5+1=6). He perseveres and finally finds a good handhold, scrambling halfway up the crates (Second move action: Climb roll 15+1=16) at [J5].
You move 5 feet up the crates, but still have 5 feet to go (Climb is one-quarter movement). Next round, you must make another Climb check to get all the way to the top and continue on your way.

Indo runs down to the end of the pier and scrambles up the wall of crates next to Bedu (accelerated Climb roll 19+1-5=15), before jumping down and landing on his feet at [L4] (Acrobatics (jump) roll 16+2=18).
Since a Climb takes a move action (and only half speed with an accelerated Climb), that movement takes the entire round, so no Jump or true strike. Next round, you can run from [L4] to [L6] to get the running start to [L9].

Pindara continues running around the buildings, trying to reach the docks from land.
Do you want to go to the first pier to the south [C12-13] or the second pier [B24-25]?

Once Jaku resolves his actions for this round, I’ll ask for round 3 actions and post an updated map, so everybody hold tight!

Round 2 Update
As Jaku’s weight makes the barge bob in the water, a drunken sailor staggers out from amongst the crates, shouting curses “I ain’t goin’ back on that f*$+in’ garbage scow!” he slurs and swings a meaty fist at Jaku’s head.

"I'm not here for you," Jaku growls, ignoring the drunk. As he runs past, the drunk curses up a blue storm and takes another swing, connecting with a thud (Attack roll 18; 4 more points of non-lethal damage). Jaku continues, throwing himself across the scum-covered water to the next boat (Acrobatics (jump) roll 16+4=20). Another fisherman’s boat, it too is covered in slippery fish guts. A fisherman gutting fish on board raises his knife and begins to curse, but seeing the look on Jaku’s face, slowly backs away. Jaku lands at [E20].
Jaku, you’ll need to make one more Acrobatics check to keep your balance on the slippery fish boat.

Round 3 Summary
Jaku, I never rolled initiative for the drunken sailor, so he shouldn’t get a regular attack and an AoO. His first punch was the AoO as you ran past, so ignore the second hit.

Bedu points at the fleeing man. "He is netted like a fish. Grab him quickly Jaku!"

Samir Kharsus is still entangled in the strange iridescent webbing, and seems unable to disentangle himself from it. Seeing Jaku closing in, he uncoils a whip from his belt and hampered by the clinging webs, he slowly makes his way to [F25].

Skittle and Liet continue talking to the halfling girl, trying to convince her to stay and talk. She seems unsure, still treading water, while the blood from her head wound forms a rusty cloud in the water.
She doesn’t seem to be hostile to you anymore, but you need to continue talking to her to keep her from swimming away.

Jaku draws his weapons as he runs across the slippery fisherman’s barge (Acrobatics (balance) roll 22) and onto the next boat.

Spoiler:
A child-sized, blue- and yellow-striped spider sits in a cage on this boat. As you board the boat, it launches a shimmering, iridescent web from its abdomen at you (Ranged touch attack roll 12), entangling you.

Boarding the next boat, Jaku becomes entangled in the iridescent webbing as well (half speed, no run or charge, -2 on attack rolls, -4 Dex). As the clinging strands touch him, Jaku starts having strange hallucinations, taking 1 point of Wisdom damage (Fort save 7+2=9, DC 11).

"We need to talk to you Samir," Jaku growls. "Don't make me angrier by forcing me to kill you." (Intimidate roll 22, standard action)
Samir looks visibly shaken at Jaku’s words.

Jaku is entangled (half speed, no run or charge, -2 on attack rolls, -4 Dex) at [D23]. Next round you can attempt an Escape Artist check or Strength check as standard action to escape the web.

Bedu climbs the rest of the way up the wall of crates (Climb roll 18+1=19) and throws himself in the direction of the closest boat (Acrobatics (jump) roll 7). Sadly, he falls far short, landing with a big splash in the water at [L7].
You’re out of actions, but you can use your Swim roll next round, followed by a Climb check to clamber out of the water onto the boat.

Indo runs across the barge and leaps across the water (Acrobatics (jump) roll 8+2=10) to the next boat. This boat is covered in loose fishing nets, but Indo nimbly makes his way through them without entangling himself (Reflex save 15+2=17). He runs across the next barge and jumps to the next one (Acrobatics (jump) roll 1d20+2=21), where he is confronted by 3 growling watchdogs.
Indo, you can stop at [L14] and deal with the dogs next round, or continue to K16 this round, provoking an attack of opportunity from the dog at [J15]. In any case, you’ll have 3 dogs to contend with next round.

Pindara is still running around the buildings, dodging passers-by and market carts.

Round 3 is over. Here is the updated map for the fourth round.

Please post your actions and rolls for round 4.

Round 4 Opener

Still entangled in webs, Samir Kharsus makes his way to the barge next to the pier, pausing to knock over a pair of lanterns. The lanterns fall and break, spreading burning oil over the deck. The ancient, weathered wood begins burning heartily.

Samir is currently at [G27] and there is fire in all the squares of the barge above row G, so moving onto the boat will involve going through the flames. Jaku, keep in mind you're still entangled in the webs as well.

Round 4 Summary

Samir Kharsus, still entangled in webs, is on the burning barge at [G27].

Skittle and Liet keep up their convincing patter:
"Your wound needs immediate treatment. You wouldn't want to make it worse by swimming in these dirty waters, right?" Liet says, but Skittle starts to get frustrated. "Do you want to do this the easy way or the hard way?"

“Heal me first,” the halfling says. She starts to swim back over to the boat, but goes under for a moment before resurfacing, spluttering water (failed Swim check).

Jaku gathers his strength and bursts through the webbing, freeing himself of their entangling strands (Strength check 13+2=15). Jaku is still at [D23].
Bursting the web is a standard action, so you still have a move action, if you want to take it this round.

Bedu resurfaces like a bobbing apple, and swims to the nearby boat (Swim roll 10+0=10). He grabs onto the gunwales and attempts to pull himself up (Climb roll 5+1=6), but he is unable to do so, and falls back into the water at [L8] with another great splash.

Pindara arrives at the first northern pier [C13].
Or you can choose to continue running around the buildings to get to the next pier.

The growling dogs close in on Indo, intent on protecting their barge. They leap at Indo, jaws snapping, but the two western dogs get tangled up with one another (Attack rolls: natural 1 (x2), while Indo desperately dodges the eastern dog, barely avoiding its gnashing teeth (Attack roll 9+2+2=13).

Surrounded by the dogs, Indo lashes out at the eastern dog, but his swing goes wide (Attack roll 8+2=10). Trying to break out from the encircling dogs, Indo steps to [K16], straddling the two boats as he tries to fight off the dogs.

Jaku goes to the beginning of the dock, turns, and, looking at the vast gulf of water between him and his next landing spot, whispers, "There is no spoon," and sprints for the end of the dock. He leaps from there to the next barge in the line, ready for drunks, or spiders, or deadly flying monkeys from the mythical Isle of Tandragabar. He twists in mid-air, trying to land facing the now-burning barge.

Assuming that all works out...

Spoiler:
He looks at Samir and says, with a quiet, almost frightening calm, "Your only choice now is to drown yourself. You've burned your bridges, with me between you and the boat that would have meant your freedom."
He pauses, shaking his head sadly, "We really only want to talk to you. If we wanted to hurt you, the mages and archers in my group would have just shot you full of holes. Stop running. I'm out of patience."

Move to B25 (to get enough of a running jump) then run to the very end of the dock at G25, and jump to J27. (or, if there's not enough dock left in G25, run to F25 and jump to I27).

Male Human Ranger 1 Abjurer 1

The maps creates some confusion for me. The lip of the boat I want to jump from is in the second square from me, so is that enough for a running start? Is it one square to jump, or 2? As I see it, it's enough maybe for a running start, and is a one square leap, but it's really a DC 7 or 8. You make the call for any of these specifics and I am happy with them.

If Indo can make a running start for the next jump, Indo exits the threatened square at K16 and jumps to K19, where he continues to I21 for his first movement. He moves to F25, and says Samir, my friend. I hold you no ire. Speak with us before we burn alive!

If Indo cannot judge a running start, he will swing at the dog farthest from Pindara (L15) with sword in both hands, and then make the jump (DC 10? 12?) to K19 and continue to I21 as before.

Round 5 Summary

Still unable to disentangle himself, and with the flames from the burning boat fast encroaching, Samir heaves himself over the water onto the next barge. As he lands, dozens of caged chickens squawk loudly and flutter madly, sending up a cloud of feathers that obscures him from sight.

Jaku, with PF Acrobatics rules, you only need a 10 ft. running start, so you can run straight from your boat to the jump, without running to the head of the pier first.

Jaku sprints down the pier and leaps over the dark water. Fortunately, the deadly flying monkeys from the mythical Isle of Tandragabar are actually dead flying monkeys, so Jaku soars over the water, twisting around spectacularly in mid-air to disappear in the cloud of chicken feathers.

Spoiler:
Jaku, you land at [J27], Samir is at [I27]. The cloud of chicken feathers takes up a 5ft. radius around square [I27]. It provides concealment to anyone 5 ft. away, and total concealment to anyone farther away, so you and Samir both have (normal) concealment in regards to each other. Your soliloquy occurs unimpeded, but Samir’s reaction is unclear through the cloud of feathers.

The cloud of chicken feathers provides total concealment to anyone within it, so Samir and Jaku have disappeared from the party’s sight.

The halfling swims back over to the boat. Looking up at Liet, she says, “Heal me first, then we’ll talk.”

Bedu heaves himself over the side of the boat, landing in a pile of fishing nets at [L9], and shakily pulls himself to his feet.

Pindara runs down the pier to [I13], throwing litter at the dogs encircling Indo, shouting, "Hey mutts, over here!" One of the dogs runs over to the side of the boat closest to her and begins barking and growling menacingly at her.

The other two dogs bite at Indo, but he is able to avoid them. As he runs across the deck, the sickly sweet stench of rotting fruit rises up around him, sickening him (Fortitude save 3+1=4). The dogs snap at his heels, but do not leave their boat. Gagging on the stench, Indo jumps to next raft (Acrobatics (jump) roll 18+2-2=18), which pitches alarmingly but remains afloat, and continues on to the net-filled barge to the east. Unfortunately, Indo gets entangled in the nets on this boat (Reflex save 2+2-2=2), which slow him down, ending his move at [G21].

Indo is sickened (-2 attacks, damage, saves, ability & skill checks) and entangled (half speed, no run or charge, -2 attack rolls, -4 Dex). Next round you can take a full-round action to escape the nets with either an Escape Artist or Strength check.

Indo, Perception check DC 10:

Spoiler:
You can see a child-sized, blue- and yellow-striped spider sitting in a cage on the boat to the southeast [E22-23].

As the cloud of chicken feathers slowly settles, the group sees Jaku leading Samir back to shore.

Seeing Samir in custody, the halfling reconsiders and dives back under the water, swimming out of sight among the tangled piers and barges.

Indo, you’re not actually entangled in webs, but in fishing nets.
For Indo:

Spoiler:
You’d bet even money that this is a deatheye dancer, a deadly and rare jungle spider. But you should be safe as long as you don’t get too close to the cage.

That’s the end of the round. You can all safely get off your boats/barges/piers and rejoin one another on the shore to deal with Samir. Any conditions you are suffering from (entangled, sickened, etc.) have ended. (Jaku, of course you still have your hit point and ability damage.)

Samir Kharsus is a grizzled, middle-aged human, looking a little bit worse for wear from the ordeals of the chase, and he is draped with clinging strands of iridescent webbing. He’s wearing well-worn leather armor and patched clothes, and a whip is coiled at his hip. Despite having been treated by the clerics at the hospice of Sarenrae, his skin is still raw and pink, and his hair has yet to grow back beyond mere stubble.

Indo: The spider's boat is a battered old merchant barge. If it ever had a name, it has long since fallen off or been obscured by years of river grime. You can see several cages of varying sizes on the deck, but the spider's cage is the only one currently occupied.

No passers-by on shore seem to take any notice of Samir or your group. Some of the people working on the boats had been taking an interest in the chase, but now that the show's over, they seem to have gone back to their business. Barge End is probably an area where most people find it prudent to mind their own business.
