Next round! Since the monster goes first, I'll go ahead and post his action(s) for round 3.
Sorry. :( Actually, it's because of what happened to Skittle that I posted the monster's action first. And I like I told Indo, it's not hitting the guy that's the problem... :S

Lets fight like a team. If you cannot hurt it one way find another. Or we let Pindara deal with the beast and go defensive.
My priority is now winning the fight and not going deeper in the dungeon. I shall not be saving anything. I suggest everyone else does the same.
It isn't immune to magic, "who has the +1 sword of grickishnessbane?"

In Round 2 I made a blessed flanking attack, damage, sneak attack damage (1d20+5=21, 1d6+2=5, 1d6=6). So assuming this thing has an AC of 21 or lower it is either immune to normal damage or it has more than DR 11...
Yikes... I can do max damage of 13, so I'm going to be pulling back and being on the defensive, you know... only 1 hit point left. Holding my intestines with my hands.

Oh, no sweat. I hope you didn't think I was being pissy. That was said entirely in jest, and was more of a Homer Simpson D'Oh! moment more than anything else. I figured that's why you switched it next round.

It's conflicting - on the one hand, I'm filled with childish glee as I cut a swath of destruction through puny PCs. But on the other, I feel guilty, because I'm killing their beloved characters. What's a DM to do?
I know! As soon as this combat is over, we're going to convert over to Bunnies and Burrows.
Thrills! - as you search high and low for carrots and lettuce! Chills! - as the farmer comes after you with a blunt pitchfork! Romance! - make lots of little bunnies with another bunny of the appropriate gender! Adventure! - as you frolic through the fields and gardens of a green and pleasant land where the sun always shines!
Who's with me?

Its also the fact that we probably rolled our best ever attack routine that first round.
I woke up expecting the fight to be over and instead Skittle and Indo had been beaten and our crits had not hurt it.
Plus its multi-attack kind of hurt too. But it certainly got Bedu's attention. Thank god for Indo's big hits.
Well done Team 1000!

So to inform you of the short absence (weekend) I refered to in my post I'll explain shortly what news my wife and I got.
We've been through a long process of conceiving a child of our own. Unfortunately that hasn't gone how we planned and we had to resort to artificial insemination. Even more unfortunate in that process was the final result we got almost two weeks ago. At that point we got the final negative to our effort. We will not have children of our own; which sucks big time.
So start giving that a place and move on with our lives we booked a weekend away on very short notice. That weekend was the previous weekend, explaining my absence to post.

As mentioned previously, I'll be out of town this weekend, so no updates until Monday.
On the plus side, each of you gets 565 XP, which should bring your total up to 1320 XP, which means 2nd level!!! Woo-hoo!
So go ahead & update your characters, using Beta rules, of course. Roll your hit points normally (feel free to use your own dice for this if you don't trust Invisible Castle), and re-roll if you get a 1.
Cheers

Help me out, brothers. Looking at my Beta book, I see that skills were changed back to ranks, and the favored class has granted an extra skill, and not a hit point. Is that what the rest of you have going? I might be looking a rebuilding Indo. Same feats and such, just confused by the changes.
Let me know how fully Beta-ized you guys are and I'll do the same.

So I'm back. Please give a shout when you've updated. Would you prefer to hold the game until everyone is updated, or move along to the next room?
Steve, Beta favored class gives you +1 skill point or +1 hit point. 'Tis up to you. To this point, everyone's taken +1 hp, because that's all you got in Alpha.
Although based on Indo's propensity to get in front without his mage armor up, I'd recommend the extra hit point. :)

Thanks, Rob.
I will finish updatng Wednesday night if not before. I don't want to hold he game up, so let's keep it rolling. Little else changes for Indo until he can memorize spells again.
The skill point thing - did anyone convert to ranks per level after Beta came out? I looked over a couple of our characters to see, but I also want to not know everything about the other characters, so I haven't seen enough details to be able to tell the difference.
I know Shane's family is taking up a lot of his time, but I also know he's into playing, so I'll see if I can't get him to spare us a little time. Did you want him to keep playing Pindara, or was there a point where he was supposed to make his own character?
Good to have you back, man, let's rock the bad guys!

Everyone should have switched over to skill ranks, when Beta was released, but honestly I didn't really check. Now that everyone is going up a level, and having to add/redo things anyways, I'd like everyone to be fully Beta-compatible. So when people say they're updated, I'll be taking a look to make sure everything's good.

He had wanted to bring in his own character, and agreed to play Pindara until a point where I could easily introduce a new PC. And that point is fast approaching. So if he is still interested, I don't want to miss the opportunity to bring in a new PC.

Changes will take effect as soon as you update your character, right in the middle of he dungeon. Usually I wouldn't do it like this, but I want to give you guys a little "push" to finish up the last of this dungeon. Think of it as some extra healing and buffs before the final battle, in a manner of speaking.
| Bedu the Barber |
I know what you mean. I'd usually only let PC's get the benefits after a nights rest. Thanks for the push though. It sounds a little ominous though.
EDIT: Bedu is ready for inspection. Rob, you may want to look at the Relic Hunter feat again in view of the changes to bardic knowledge in Beta.

I'll take a look at Bedu ASAP, probably tomorrow.
Here's Relic Hunter updated for Beta:
Relic Hunter (Beta)
You possess great knowledge of the relics and crafts of ancient Iskandria.
Prerequisites: Must be trained in Appraise and Knowledge (history).
Benefit: You gain a +2 bonus on Appraise and Knowledge checks involving items from ancient Iskandria. In addition, if you have the bardic knowledge ability, you can roll 2d20 on any Knowledge skill check involving items from ancient Iskandria and ignore the lower result.
Special: This feat can be taken at any time by any character, foreign or Iskandrian.
I'll be taking another look at everyone's Iskandrian bonus feats to see if anything else needs to be updated. Give a shout-out if you see you see something that needs adjusting, or if you don't like my adjustments. :)

EDIT: Bedu is ready for inspection. Rob, you may want to look at the Relic Hunter feat again in view of the changes to bardic knowledge in Beta.
Bedu:
Don't forget your 2nd level bardic ability, Well-Versed, and the bonus it gives you on some saves.
Don't forget your bonuses to your Appraise and Knowledge skills from the Relic Hunter feat, either.
Also, note that the bard's abilities are now tied to specific types of performances. For example, you can't use the countersong ability with your chosen Perform skill, and as you go up in levels, there will be some bardic abilities you won't be able to access. So if you want to change your skills a little bit and put a rank in another type of Perform, go ahead.
Everything else looks good!

Lotus is ready for inspection. She has the Ziggurat Raider feat as Iskandrian feat.
PS, I took the Weapon Finesse feat as my Rogue Talent. That bumps my attack bonus to +5 for everything (ranged and melee). Not bad for a background fighter.
Lotus: Ziggurat Raider should be the same for Beta. Finesse Rogue is fine. Everything looks good!

Liet:
When you get around to updating Liet, a couple of things to keep in mind:
With the Beta changes to bardic knowledge, the cloistered cleric's lore ability changes as follows:
Lore: Thanks to long hours of study, a cloistered cleric has a wide range of stray knowledge. A cloistered cleric adds 1/2 his level to all Knowledge checks and may make such checks untrained. (You don't get the bonus Knowledge skill points a bard gets from Bardic Knowledge.)
In addition, I feel that 3 domain abilities is a bit much, not that you get new abilities at various levels instead of just one. So a cloistered cleric gets all 3 domain abilities at 1st level. At levels where he gains new domain abilities (2nd, 4th, etc.), you can choose 2 out of the 3 domain options available to you. Which domain powers you choose is up to you.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for giving it some detailed attention. I'll look over Bedu again.
Ta
EDIT: Looked at and revised. Bedu will forego Countersong because the knowledge skills fit him better than the singing et al.
Well-versed noted and Relic Hunter too.
I'm sure you realised but if we walk within 10ft of a secret door, Bedu may perceive it as a dwarf. You may want to make those rolls. I know I would.

All secret doors in Iskandria are made of stardust and marzipan, so no dwarven bonus if you walk near them, sorry. :(

Ready when you are, chief.
Indo:
Looks mostly good, I'm just waiting to see what you decide re: your weapon and feats (Combat Wizard or not) as we discussed in email.
Can you also list your AC without mage armor? (Especially since you don't currently have it memorized...)
Sorry to be a stickler, but I wonder if you can do me one favor - the way you list your skills in your profile is a bit confusing. It's not easy to see what's your final bonus, or where the other bonuses come from. Take a look at Bedu or Lotus - if you could write up your skills in a similar way, it would really help me a lot.
Don't forget to add +1 to your attack bonus with your bastard sword (or whatever bonded weapon you go with) for masterwork.
Spells: I'm not familiar with the caltrops spell, and I don't really want to go beyond Pathfinder/SRD with spells at this time. Do you mind switching it out?
Also, you can memorize an extra 1st-level spell because of your high Intelligence.

I'll go with the very thematic greater temple blade, to keep the large curved sword theme. Being a combat wizard, I'll take Weapon Focus (Greater Temple Blade).

Sorry...I cast mage armor once we entered these lower tunels, which is why the AC reflects same. With an hour duration, seems like it should still be up. My habit has been to add it when it's current, and edit my AC and profile when it expires.

Done.

Was already done: 1 base + 1 mw + 2 Strength. Adding wpn focus now.

Caltrops is gone forever. Sniff. Great spell for camping. Is amaneusis still okay? Just let's me count things. Definitely useful. Definitely, Ray.
Also, you can memorize an extra 1st-level spell because of your high Intelligence.
The bonus spell was mage armor. Thanks for the compliment, though.

Steve/Indo:
Amanuensis is ok. You can keep it.
What is this greater temple sword of which you speak? Are you just planning on using the stats for bastard sword, but calling it a greater temple sword? And you still have bastard sword listed as your weapon.
Hmmm, skills. Some problems there. Max ranks in Beta are equal to your HD. If it's a class skill, and you have at least 1 rank in a skill, you also get a +3 class bonus. It looks you've kept base ranks from Alpha, and added Beta's +3 class bonus.
By my reckoning, you should have 16 skill points to spend. No skill can have more than 2 ranks, plus associated bonuses. So please take a look at your skills again and change them accordingly.

whoops. That explains some balance questions I had about the skills system! Fixing now.
You had mentioned in your email that we could make a bigger version of the temple sword. If you'd just like it longsowrd-sized, that's cool with me.
hey - and cross-class skill don't cost double ranks. Takes a bit to get used to. I have adjusted my skill ranks (23 skills at 2 ranks each = 40 level 1 and 6 level 2. Right?)
And now I'm gonna watch TU pull it out against Arkansas.
