Kobolds and Toads - Round 3
Rall: Initiative - 22
Bowen: Initiative - 18
Arla: Initiative - 16
Kobolds: Initiative - 7
Chloe: Initiative - 6

Female Human (Taldan) Cleric 1 / Battle Sorceress 1

"Ewww..." Chloe frowns with disgust at the slimy floor. Unable to see a quick (or reliable) way to her companions, she focuses instead on trying to keep the kobolds occupied with a bit of fey magic.

Casting daze (DC 13) on the kobold rider attacking Rall.

She then tries to move as slowly as possible to keep her footing so she can join them.

Reflex check... 1d20+2 = 13

Male Shoanti/Human Ranger 4

Ew and ow... I'd rather not be lunch for these things.

Female Human Druid 2

As Arla reaches the ground, it quickly becomes apparent to her just how slippery the floor is. With some care, both she and Ash manage to keep their footing on the slime as they move forward to assist the rest of the group. As she sees the huge frog-like creature savagely bite Bowen, the druid realises that the ranger may need some help, and attempts to attack the kobold and his mount.
Reflex saves for Arla and Ash: 1d20+2 = 21, 1d20+5 = 23
Arla:
Balance check: 1d20+2 = 22, Attack on kobold: 1d20+2 = 3
Ash:
Balance check: 1d20+2 = 19, Attack on frog: 1d20+3 = 13, Damage: 1d6+3 = 5

Male Human Rogue 4

Rall swoons. Fort: 1d20=6

I'm going to try and use the new Beta rules for poison. I think I understand them, after reading and rereading them for a couple of months now. Rall takes 1 point of Dexterity and will need to make a save next round or take another. But he can still make a move, as should Bowen .

Male Shoanti/Human Ranger 4

Attack
1d20+5=24
Damage
1d8+3=11

Growling Bowen pulls the battleaxe free from it hangar and smashes it into the head of the frog that bit him.

Rall you really need a potion of restoration.

Bowen Quaid wrote:

Not to mention some better luck with the dice and maybe a good cloak of resistance... ;-D

We still need an attack from Rall I believe. Unless we are to understand he really did pass out from the scratch.

Male Human Rogue 4

Sorry ... busy days.

Dizzy and confused, Rall attacks the nearest fanged toad creature with his longsword.

1d20+3=13, 1d8+2=7

Rall's sword does not penetrate the toad's hide.

Bowen on the other hand, brings his axe blade down on the other toad's head and cracks it open.

Ride check: (1d20+5=20)

The kobold on the felled mount manages to avoid having his foot caught by the suddenly limp body he sits astride as it rolls.

Ash meanwhile darts in and rips open the slimy throat, ensuring the monstrous fanged toad will never recover from its wound.

Arla fails to hit the kobold on the dead toad.

Attack against Bowen: (1d20+4=16)
Damage: (1d3=3)

Spear attack against Rall: (1d20+4=11)
Bite attack against Rall: (1d20+4=6)

Bowen is stabbed by the kobold on the dead toad, who following his attack, manages roll off the toad to his feet. Bowen needs to make a fortitude save.

Rall on the other hand keeps well away from the sharp spear and teeth seeking his life.

Will save: (1d20=9)

The kobold attacking Rall is dazed.

Kobolds and Toads - Round 4
Rall: Initiative - 22 -3 hp
Bowen: Initiative - 18 - 11 hp
Arla: Initiative - 16
Kobolds: Initiative - 7
Chloe: Initiative - 6

Male Human Rogue 4

Rall is still reeling from the venom in his bloodstream. He slashes out with his blade and hopes he doesn't hit anyone he knows.

1d20+3=12, 1d8+2=10

Don't forget the second saving throw for Rall.

Male Shoanti/Human Ranger 4

Fortitude
1d20+6=21

Bowen now sits at 7hp.

Bowen suffers no ill effects from the poison. It's his go as well.

Female Human (Taldan) Cleric 1 / Battle Sorceress 1

"By the Moonflower's grace, bless us, Desna and strengthen us against this threat!" Chloe calls out.

Channel positive energy, excluding up to 3 targets with Selective Channeling feat (i.e., the 2 kobolds and remaining toad-thing)... 1d6 = 5 hp

Hopefully, that keeps Rall and Bowen in action. Chloe has 5 channelings available for the rest of the day.

Male Shoanti/Human Ranger 4

Attack
1d20+5=18
Damage
[1d8+3=9

Bowen is more then happy to trade blows with the kobold that stabbed him.

The Chronicler wrote:

The sudden bout of exertion sends Rall swooning again.

1d20=4

"Maybe I should sit down," says Rall backing up towards the cauldron.

Rall misses the kobold but fortunately for him it is dazed and not going to attack just yet. Rall is down 1 more dex. But thats the final effect.

Bowen's axe finishes the other kobold in one fell swoop, sending him to the ground.

Arla, then the toad and then the positive energy will kick in.

Female Human Druid 2

With the death of the kobold that was attacking Bowen, Arla now attempts to jab at the toad-like creature attacking Rall. She calls to Ash to assist, her companion also moving to attack.

Not sure if I need a balance check or anything here - let me know if I do and I'll roll (not that either of them have made their attacks anyway :-p)

Arla's Attack: 1d20+2 = 10, Damage: 1d8+1 = 5
Ash's Attack: 1d20+3 = 5, Damage: 1d6+3 = 9

Arla and Ash rush to aid the deputy, but they do little more than attract the toad's attention, giving Rall a respite from attacks.

Toad Attack: (1d20+4=16)
Damage: (1d6+2=6)

The toad manages to get its fangs at least partially into Arla but, blessedly, a fraction of a second later, Chloe unleashes positive energy into the room, and most of that damage is healed.

Kobolds and Toads - Round 5
Rall: Initiative - 22
Bowen: Initiative - 18 - 6 hp
Arla: Initiative - 16 - 1 hp
Kobolds: Initiative - 7
Chloe: Initiative - 6

Male Human Rogue 4

Rall again aims for a toad if possible and a kobold if not.

1d20+3=16, 1d8+2=4

Female Human (Taldan) Cleric 1 / Battle Sorceress 1

I'll wait for Bowen, Arla, and the kobolds to act before Chloe's next action. If they manage to damage us again, Chloe may have to channel energy once more. Otherwise, she'll try and aid the attack.

Rall strikes the slimy toad with his weapon.

Male Shoanti/Human Ranger 4

How close is Bowen to Rall and his frog friend?

Bowen Quaid wrote:

Only about fifteen or twenty feet.

Male Shoanti/Human Ranger 4

Attack
1d20+5=19
Damage
1d8+3=4

Bowen tries to help Rall and flank the kobold riding frog and swings his axe into the slimy creature.

Bowen moves around the edge of the wall, behind the toad and attacks it. He does provide flanking for Rall.

Female Human Druid 2

Arla jerks back from the toad, grimacing with pain as the creature's fangs find their target. Fortunately, Chloe's channel washes over them all a brief moment later, closing up the new wounds almost as soon as they were inflicted.

Grimly, the druid launches back into a new attack on the toad, Ash attempting to sink his teeth into the slimy creature also.

Arla's attack: 1d20+2 = 18, Damage: 1d8+1 = 4
Ash's attack: 1d20+3 = 12, Damage 1d6+3 =9

The toad is seriously wounded but still energitic enough to make an attack.

Toad attacks Arla: (1d20+4=20)
Damage: (1d6+2=8)

It's huge teeth lash out savagely at Arla.

The kobold meanwhile, seeing that he is surrounded, tries to get the toad to move away from the combat, even as he lashes out at Rall with his spear.

Spear attack at Rall: (1d20+4=20)
Damage: (1d3=3)
Ride Check: (1d20+5=12)

The fanged toad monstrosity actually hops sideways, landing on the wall, where it sticks, on edge, the kobold apparently held on to its back by the slime on the creature's skin.

Female Human (Taldan) Cleric 1 / Battle Sorceress 1

Assuming the rider controls the toad, Chloe decides to try and confound the kobold so he can't coordinate their attacks.

Casting daze (DC 13) at the kobold and then moving forward to relieve heavily-wounded Arla.

Male Human Rogue 4

Does Rall need to make another fortitude save?

This is Rall's attack for the next round called.

Rall wishes these slime covered toads would just sit still and fight.

1d20+3=6, 1d8+2=3

Will Save: (1d20=17)

The kobold resists the spell this time and Rall subsequently misses the toad, perhaps distracted by its leap.

Flank bonuses still apply.

Kobolds and Toads - Round 6
Rall: Initiative - 22 Acted
Bowen: Initiative - 18 - 6 hp
Arla: Initiative - 16 - 9 hp
Kobolds: Initiative - 7
Chloe: Initiative - 6

The toad looks to be on its last legs, so to speak.

Male Shoanti/Human Ranger 4

Attack
1d20+5=12
Damage
1d8+3=6

Once again Bowen attempts to swing the axe into the slimey frog.

Female Human (Taldan) Cleric 1 / Battle Sorceress 1

I'll go ahead and post Chloe's action, as I don't think anyone else will impact what she intends to do.

Moving alongside Arla and Ash, Chloe hopes to present another target to the toad-mounted kobold in the hopes of spelling them. Even as the combat rages, she once again raises her hand to call upon Desna's aid.

Channel positive energy again...excluding our 3 adversaries via the Selective Channeling feat... 1d6 = 5 hp

Rall?

Male Human Rogue 4

Rall is unable to get a grip on what is happening around him. The concept of toad riding kobolds still isn't registering.

1d20+5=13, 1d8+2=6; I added the 2 in for flanking after the roll. Whoops.

Female Human Druid 2

Arla stumbles back from the toad, before trying to attack the toad again. Her movements are almost frantic, and her spear goes wide of the mark. Ash darts in to attack to creature also, growling savagely.

Arla's attack: 1d20+2=8, Damage: 1d8+1=8
Ash's attack: 1d20+3=17, Damage: 1d6+3=4

Ash darts in and rips out the slimy neck of the toad. The taste will probably be with the poor dog for weeks. (ugh)

Ride Check: (1d20+5=11)

The kobold falls with the toad, unable to pull himself free from the slime covered back in time. Consequently he does not attack this round.

Chloe's positive energy then once more washes over the combatants.

Kobolds and Toads - Round 7
Rall: Initiative - 22
Bowen: Initiative - 18 - 1 hp
Arla: Initiative - 16 - 4 hp
Kobold: Initiative - 7
Chloe: Initiative - 6

Talk to you guys in a week.

Male Human Rogue 4

Rall is seriously contemplating giving up and going home.

'We got most of the children, right? I mean, nobody's perfect. First time out and all that.'

1d20+5=8, 1d8+2=8

I'm back. Rall misses and Bowen is up.

Male Shoanti/Human Ranger 4

Attack
1d20+5=25
Confirm Critical
1d20+5=16
Damage
1d8+3=8

Bowen almost ready to give in with Rall lets all his frustration out on the kobold left standing.

The damage is not multiplied by 3 because I wasn't sure if the confirmation hit or not.

With a savage swing, Bowen cleaves his ax through the remaining kobold, ending the fight.

Everything is suddenly quiet, a stark contrast to the noise of violence that only seconds before had filled the chambers.

Female Human (Taldan) Cleric 1 / Battle Sorceress 1

"Is everyone okay?" Chloe asks as she surveys the damage. "What vile, slimy...toads!" she remarks, "I don't remember seeing those before. They must use those things to patrol. Yuck!"

Male Shoanti/Human Ranger 4

Bowen nearly collapses from the burst of energy he expended in the battle but rememebers he turns to Rall, "Are you okay my friend?"

"Otay? Ndot so buch ndo. I ca't peel by lips," says Rall as the poison begins to make his mouth go numb.
