Arla Kalandras |

Arla nods her head as she steps carefully back away from the dead creatures, trying not to slip on the slime. "I'm alright to go on if everyone else is.
I hope we can find the child soon.." the druid glances back over at the kobolds and then to Bowen and Rall, a worried expression crossing her face as she speaks.

The Chronicler |

How many hp did Rall get back?
All of them I believe.
The northern tunnel contains roughly carved shallow steps that descend down about ten feet. At the bottom of the steps there is a four way crossroads, with tunnels going north east and west. Each of these tunnels is about four or five feet wide.

Bowen looks at all the paths to see where the main traffic goes through.

"Well we should certainly avoid the north passage," Chloe remarks, "But it's an intersection, so we've got two more ways we could go. If you've found signs of kobolds to the west, it would seem it's best to follow that and see if it leads us to a back way into their warrens. I fear if we head east, it'll just take us into some other danger or slow us down."

Chloe "Clover" Verjust |

"Agreed," Chloe nods at Arla's wisdom, "We need to cull them one group at a time, not all at once. And more importantly, we need to find out where those damn holding pens are. There's no telling what they've done with that last child and our other companion."

The Chronicler |

The tunnel continues another fifteen feet before opening up into a wide cavern. It is filled with kobolds. All of them on the alert, ready to attack. Fortunately, the party is not surprised to see a welcoming committee and with both sides prepared for battle, there is no surprise round.
There are fourteen kobolds in here. Two of them, towards the back of the group, are better armed and as soon as the party is in sight, they begin yelling, their high voices making loud yipping noises. One gets the feeling they are calling for reinforcments.
Kobold's initiative: (1d20+1=4)
If you beat a 4 initiative you can go first. The closest kobolds are fifteen feet away.

Okay. That's more kobolds than I was expecting.
Do we see any sign of the last child?

Initiative check... 1d20+2 = 4
Ummm...what happens if we tie the kobolds? :-]
Also, just FYI to the rest of you, Chloe has a few color spray spells still available. This seems like the opportune moment to use them. But you guys decide if we're standing or running.

I'd say use them. Is there room for Chloe to hit the kobolds with color spray without spraying Rall if he's heading to the northwest door?

Initiative
1d20+2=13
Eep... So do we run or fight? I think we'll have something behind us either way.

The Chronicler |

A Battle Map for you to use if needed.
The kobold leaders are at J13 and K13.
The other kobolds are at I10, I11, J9, J10, J11, J12, K10, K14, L12, L12, L14, and M11.

Chloe "Clover" Verjust |

I'm okay with that. But, Chloe is going last in the initiative order...right along with the kobolds. So, you guys get the first action, unless you want to delay. It might work best if you form a line...draw the kobolds to you...and then Chloe can work her magic by coming up and picking a spot to maximize the number of kobolds she can effect. I have a feeling, we're going to need to be at maximum effect to survive this one.
Also, FYI...I did a quick run back through all the previous posts to the last time we rested and regained spells, etc. Chloe's got 2 color spray spells remaining. And she's also got 2 channeled healings left. Plus all of her action points, though I probably need a reminder on how those work again.

The Chronicler |

Action points can be used to add 1d6 to a d20 roll after the initial roll is made but before the DM tells you whether the roll succeeded or not. They can also be used to gain one extra action in a round or to recall one spell just cast.
Hero Points can be used to avoid any single attack from dropping you below 1 hp or for an automatic critical for any one attack.

Ooooh. I MUST remember that. Recalling a spell just cast looks advisable right now. And saving ourselves or going for an automatic critical might be needed later.

Getting the kobolds to bunch up doesn't seem likely. I think you'll go first as initiative would go next to highest dexterity, wouldn't it? I'm guessing you have higher dex than most kobolds. How about delaying until after Chloe goes and then killing anything still moving? Or, Bowen and Rall could spread out towards either side, and Chloe could cast her spray down the middle?
Pardon all the out of character commentary, but our chances are slim to none. We need to make this work.

Strategy Discussion:
Getting the kobolds to bunch up doesn't seem likely.
Judging by the positions on the map, a lot of them already seem bunched up. Tactically, there looks like some spots where you guys might be able to funnel them to us past a couple of those stone columns. But I don't know. Wicht can probably advise us on the best course of action. A 15-foot cone can cover 6 squares of opponents at its best effect. I'm not sure we'll do that good with it. But every little bit helps.

If I'm higher in the initiative order, you guys could delay so Chloe acts at the same time you do. Then, if she blasts the middle or one entire flank with her spell, that would leave you guys to cover the rest. It's all contingent on whether Chloe goes before or after the kobolds, though. And that's for Wicht to tell us, I think.
Or, Bowen and Rall could spread out towards either side, and Chloe could cast her spray down the middle?
If I hit the middle, presumably, the tougher kobolds might try to fill in the gap. Although, with 14 kobolds, I guess they'll have plenty unaffected ones to still cover any that go down to the color spray. I've got 2 of them left. And, by spending a hero point, I could potentially reclaim and cast a third one. All in all, it's going to be important for Chloe to hit and run. At least enough that she can get separation and continue casting.

I was going to post my reactions earlier but could not get invisible castle to work so I'm going to hold off till tomorrow and hope its up. Gives us time to discuss anway.
Who is the person in the back? I'm afraid we are going to be pinned in and flanked.
Was going to move in to J8 and hit J9 with first attack. Hopefully attack anything coming in that way
