Ok, the revamp isn't quite finished, and seeing as I'll be heading out to play soon I probably won't get him done today. I won't leave you guys in the lurch though here are Shulim's actions.

Shulim draws his dagger.

"Oi, Ghari, I ain't strong enough to wrestle you out, and dis bloody undead is resistant against me spells so I can't magic you out, so that only leaves me blades! Hang on me buddy I'm gonna try to cut you out."

Shulim lunges up, attacking the zombie's arm where it joins at the shoulder.

roll of 17 +0, roll of 1 on my d3 for damage

"Yuck, keep yer mouth shut Shulim, dis is gonna get messy"

Roman's go

Roman ignores the plea, following the monster in the mist and striking with his staff to the best of his ability.

His reply is turse

Yben hétén réatgí ówndó nderuth, heten tupiditysä fóën hësetï úrfacerssë nówscé ónën oúndsba. Ïën ïllwë óden hátwé ouyén ontwä hätwé óúyën ancen'tén ëcaúsebá óúyën ácclé óuragecó ndäën onvïctioncä

ROMAN SWINGS

Spoiler:
Natural 20, total 23, 17 (14+3) to confirm Damage=7 + 6 critical

Male Noble Elf Spellcaster 1

Fazaam stares wide-eyed as Roman's words penetrate. His pause is long enough for Roman to strike again.

"Shazbot." Fazaam spits. He shifts slightly, and lets the heavy lid fly, at the abomination on the floor.

Triggers readied action. Fazaam throws urn lid at transformed gnome. Grr, IC is down. Home roll= (OMGosh this is embarrassing) 1d20=1+3=4 total to hit. OK, so I try NOT to hit Roman, and I'll hit him because of a fumble! ROFL!

Rolled 50% miss chance (something I forgot last round) and came up a miss, 69%! However no sounds come from Zartari.

The staff cracks a flagstone. At the same time Fazaam's urn lid crashes into a nearby urn. Unfortunately it snaps off the lid, freeing another shade.

Fudrick. Shade acts at the end of the round.

Fudrick's eyed open wide at as the new shade emerges from the broken jar. Not sure where his cousins journal is at he prepares to attack the initial shade. "Cousin where is the journal!"

Attack on 1st shade (1d20 1=13)

damage (1d4=2)

Fudrick's rapier pierces the shade, and it wails in agony.

I rolled your miss chance and you hit.

The zombie struggles to get a solid grip on Ghari.Opposed grapple check to pin Ghari, he has to beat a 6.

Male Human Ranger 1 (XP826)

Ghari writhes and lurches in the zombie's grasp. Shulim's hold on the monster's arm hinders it just enough that the ranger is not overwhelmed.
opposed grapple check (1d20+2=15) FW, I thought you were going to throw me into the chamber of urns where my impact will break another urn, freeing another shade and the falling damage will render me unconscious.

Male Noble Elf Spellcaster 1

Um, Ghari, Will you please STOP GIVING THE NICE DM IDEAS!?! ;P

"Oh for the love of,... You have GOT to be kidding me!" Fazaam sputters as his wild shot cracks open another urn, and yet another shade appears. He swiftly brings his rapier back on guard as Hasan stares for a moment, then begins beating the top of Fazaam's head with his tiny fist.

"OW! QUITIT you little ape! You can chew me out later! Why don't you try doing something useful for a change?!"

That was the plan. Just have to pin you first, Ghari.

Zartari remains silent.

Yrar, it's hammertime!

Male Half-Orc Barbarian / 2

Frustrated at his ineffectiveness, sweat soaks his beard and drips onto his chest. With a snarl, the Half-Orc re-confirms the grip on his weapon.

"For the love of the sea," Yrar screams deep from his chest, "KRAKIS, guide my hammer and send this abomination where it belongs."

With a growling, screaming grunt, Yrar swings his maul toward the zombies back.

Maul Attack (Roll 2+5=7) I am starting to wonder who is cursed, Yrar or Shulim ... sheesh

Shade’s turn, I believe

The shade elongates out towards Fudrick but his smoky arm slices pass the gnome's face.

End of the round

Ghari 17
Shulim 14
Fazaam 13+
Roman 13
Fudrick 13
Zombie 10
(Zartari 8)
Yrar 3
Shade 2

I have to just say, thanks for the way all of you are posting so regularly. Now back to the fight, go for it Ghari.

Male Human Ranger 1 (XP826)

Ghari keeps twisting and turning and flailing with his legs, trying to drop the zombie.

same idea as before, get me and zombie on the ground and wriggle away while Yrar makes jelly out of him and Shulim cuts him into single serving size pieces take down grapple attempt (1d20=17)

SHulim, you're up

Ghari's leg snakes round Yoraal's and he stumbles bringing them both to the ground.

Opposed roll 7+7=14, The zombie is now prone, +4 to hit by Yrar and Shulim. Speaking of Shulim...

"Now that's more like it Ghari! Bring 'em down ta my level. Let's see if ol' Shulim can get dis' beasts' arm off!"

Shulim continues to cut away at the arm:

Roll of 16 + 4 + 0 = 20, blast! roll of 1 on d3

"Damn I keep hittin' bone" Shulim curses as his knife again fails to cut very deeply, "Hang on just a bit longer mate."

Male Noble Elf Spellcaster 1

Woot, my turn again? :)

Fazaam backs carefully away from the new cloud of darkness that has taken the place of the one they already destroyed.

"Hasan, take a memo. Leave the urns alone!"

He once again points a finger at the breathing darkness, and cries "Thyrori!".
And once again the tiny specks of light appear around his hand and form a light coating of frost on it before stabbing in a thin blue beam towards the darkness. But his finger shakes just a little, there is a light sheen of sweat on his forehead, and the frost and the beam seem to take a little longer to appear than before.

5'step AWAY from the darkness , cast Ray of Frost, (last one for the day, only 1-1st lvl spell left.)
Fazaam's hit/dmg rolls with Ray of frost: (1d20 3=18, 1d3=2)

Oops, AND 50% miss chance,...
Fazaam's miss chance: (1d10=3, 1d10=9)

3 & 9 = 39, hit? (HOW do you do percentiles on IC?!?)

ROMAN, batter up!

I would just do a 1d100 for the dice on IC.

Oh,...um,...DUH! (Embarrassed Blush) Thank you!

Male Half-Orc Barbarian / 2

"Ahhh, the little one is gettin' 'im better than me."

Shulim opens up another small nick in the beast. It roars with anger and pain.

"Youuu iiie!" screams Yoraal at the gnome.

Roman's go.

Yay a beguiler useful in a fight against undead!

Roman exhales in frustration, taking the time to attempt to smush the shade before attempting to find a place that is above the mists where he may rest and keep watch.

Spoiler:
attack 22, damage 8 mischance d100 roll 98 damn i rolled snazzy

Again Roman swings staff and again he hits mist and stone.

Next!

man I hope his journal isn't back at the camp. Maybe I should read back through posts to see if that was mentioned.

"Zartari, answer me now. Where is the journal." Hoping to quickly dispatch the shade so he can concentrate on finding the journal he attacks.

In a panic and feeling anger building thoughts of the attack on his parents ship cloud his mind, "I have lost enough already. Zartari was supposed to help me" "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS" As his rage flashes through him he strikes at the shade.

Attack on shade #2 (1d20+1=18, 1d4=4, 1d100=8)

crit conf (1d20 1=6)

btw it is a scimitar not a rapier Mr. Wolf

The shade disappears in a puff of smoke as Fudrick's blade slices through it.

The zombie above changes tack and continues to squeeze the athletic Ghari.

Opposed grapple Ghari beat an 11 or take 6 points of non lethal damage.

Then Yrar. +4 to hit a prone target, Can't miss really, can you?

Male Half-Orc Barbarian / 2

To move things along, in case I am not around later ...

Spoiler:
Yrar smiles as the dead unliving flesh is now on the ground. "I will smash you six feet under and put you where you belong." With a long, deep growl, the Half-Orc changes his grip for a great overhead smash.

Maul Attack, (I rolled a frickn' 1 again) crap, crap crap! :)

Ghari's opposed grapple check first but just to make you happy, read on.

Yrar's great maul smashes down next to Ghari's head, the flagstone splinters and pieces fall into the chamber below. A large crack now runs through the stone underneath Ghari and Yoraal

And that's why you're in the game. Thank you Utak. No one can accuse you of fudging your dice rolls. Who can guess what happens if he rolls another 1?

Male Human Ranger 1 (XP826)
Sheherazade wrote:

antiggrapple to avoid damage (1d20+2=11)

Ghari struggles and squirms, while the zombie clutches him tighter, inexorably squeezing his breath out. "Y......" Suddenly Ghari's struggles cease. He goes limp.

6 points of subdual does it for me. See you guys on the other side.

End of round, Ghari and Zartari are out of the combat now.

Shulim 14
Fazaam 13+
Roman 13
Fudrick 13
Zombie 10
Yrar 3

So over to you Shulim.

Male Noble Elf Spellcaster 1

Seeing the shade dissipate as Fudrick's blade slices through it, Fazaam lets out a sigh of relief.

"For heaven's sake, Don't touch the urns!" He says into the sudden stillness of the chamber.

"Ghari, how ya doin' up there buddy? Ghar?"

Over to Shulim for your regularly posted action!

Male Gnome Beguiler 2

"Oh bugger! Ghari's Down!"

roll of 11+4+0=15, 2 on the d3

"Yrar would you quit fooling around and smash this thing?"

The zombie stops moving too at the blow from the little gnome.

End of combat rounds. End of combat unless you wish to open another urn or nine. 125xp each.

As the sounds of combat die out, Fudrick, tears streaking down his cheek, takes a look around the chamber trying to figure out his cousins fate. Cursing the gods for taking his entire family from him.

Search chamber (1d20=2)

The mist seems to get thicker the more he moves around. Not wanting to damage another urn he stops and asks the others if they can help him search.

I am not sure if Fudrick heard that Ghari went down earlier. We were still in combat so those sounds can be drowned out. If it is something he would have heard he quickly makes his way up instead of searching.

Heal check (1d20 4=13)

Fudrick spends enough time to stabilize Ghari before climbing back down to search for his cousin or the journal.

"Ghari!?!" Fazaam cries. In one fluid motion he sheathes his rapier as he runs for the ladder.

Hasan leaps from his shoulder as he reaches the ladder and scampers up, Fazaam right on his curly tail, moving as lightly and easily as only the elves can make it look.

He takes in the scene as he vaults from the hole, and quickly helps Shulim and Yrar remove Ghari from the clutches of the dead zombie.

"Ghari? Ghar?! C'mon sirrah, this is most unbecoming! Your supposed to be the 'mighty warrior of the woods'! How do you think it will look if I go and have to rescue your sister without you? What do you think she'll do?! I'll tell you what she'll do, she'll kill me! Come on 'mighty ranger', Wake Up!"

I'm unfamiliar with non-lethal damage, I know you can't die from it, at least not until AFTER you pass out, is that right?

Oh, and here is your oxy-moron of the day! "Dead Zombie". Ranks right up there with "Jumbo Shrimp".

I need to know what Shulim and Yrar's actions are, since they are up top at the moment.

Male Gnome Beguiler 2
Sheherazade wrote:

Shulim is surprised to see the zombie drop.

"Well I'll be . . ." he says looking down at the knife. Suddenly at everyone's shouting he remembers his friend still wrapped up in the arms of the inanimate zombie. Shulim will do his best to try and free his friend from the arms of the corpse. After that he'll do his best help his companions search the place.

Shulim will take 20 if there's time if not I can roll.

take 20 = 27
roll 9 +7 = 16

Shulim's surprise is justified.

As he tries to free Ghari, Yoraal (never trustworthy in life) opens his eyes. His arms snake out and he grabs the little gnome. Close to the hot eyes of the zombie burn with hatred and cunning. This is not some dumb shambling beast.

Attack roll 18+4=22, Improved Grapple 6+7=13, Non-lethal damage if Shulim doesn't escape 4pts

Initiative from everyone, those in the Chamber are at -2. Next person to read this - roll all party initiatives using the details on this alias. The actions of Fudrick and Fazaam we will consider as their thoughts at the moment, not deeds.

Fazaam 7
Yrar 12
Shulim 20
Roman 10
Fudrick 1

Includes -2 on chamber crew

Shulim's actions from the surprise round need to occur first. Then Ghari can react.

happy for the chance to help my little buddy out, but isn't Ghari busy napping?

Apologies yes scratch Ghari. Ghari is out for the count. Thanks for putting it so politely Ghari.

Male Gnome Beguiler 2

"Aaahh" Shuilim yells as the zombie snatches him up.

roll of 3-4+0= negative fun :( Sorry to keep everyone waiting, I got a bit of a stomach flew yesterday

The zombie has another good hold and this time it's arms link around the gnome's neck. Ghari's helpless body is pushed to one side in the melee on the ground.

Shulim 20
Yrar 12
Yoraal the sneaky zombie 12-
Roman 10
Fazaam 7
Fudrick 1

Shulim's go

Natural 20? Where were you 20 minutes ago! That's a hit . . . wow max damage 3 points. The dice are rolling hot.

"Yrar hit this thing!" Shulim screams.

Shulim rips a wide cut across the monsters throat.

Male Half-Orc Barbarian / 2

Yrar grumbles, shakes and drops his head when the zombie falls from the little Gnome’s weapon. The Half-Orc lifts his gaze in the direction where he last saw the sea and whispers, “Krakis, you uncaring shark. You tear the skin from my flesh until only bone is left. Then you gnaw on my bones and suck them dry. You hinder me and have the little-one proved mightier.”

As Yrar is whispering his troubles, movement from the zombie refocuses the Half-Orc’s attention. Shulim is swept up by the dead pirate and yells for help. Yrar’s face scrunches in anger and new determination, “KRAKIS,” Yrar roars, “I am no longer in your domain, therefore you will hinder me no lonGER. YOU HERE ME? YOU HERE ME?” With his loudest roar yet, the Half-Orc locks a grip on his maul and performs a low, side-long swing toward the supine zombie’s shoulder, hoping to render the appendage useless.

And the Roll is ….

Spoiler:
OK French Wolf, I am going to use my Action Point …

Maul Attack (Roll 17+5+2 (Action Point) =24) Also, possible +4 applies for prone?

Damage (Roll 1+6=7) Still somewhat jinxed by the 1’s, but it is a start.

Zombie's turn

Male Gnome Beguiler 2

"Harder!" Shulim cries, "Hit 'em 'arder! He's still got hold of me throat!"

The maul snaps the neck of Yoraal. Now his twisted head grins garishly down at Shulim. But the zombie keeps fighting.

Opposed grapple check (13+7=20) to beat Shulim... Damage (non-lethal) = 4pts. If the gnome fails, the zombie will try to stand, giving Yrar an attack of opportunity at +4 to hit for prone.

Technically impossible for Shulim to beat that opposed check. I won't even bother trying. :(

"Yrar . . . Uurrk . . ." Shulim's eyes roll back in his head and he collapses under the merciless pressure of the zombies cruel dead hands.

The zombie rises from the limp gnome, its head lolling from side to side.

Attack of opportunity for Yrar. Make it count..
