For those at the Rusty Dragon, please specify the number of drinks you'll be having for the the night. Your drinks are on the house.

Male Dwarf Ranger 2

Trag will put away 13 drinks this evening - they keep leaking out through the holes in his stomach! =)

Spoiler:

Szaranoth looks a bit proud as Heinrich Libay mentions the heroics of the afternoon.

"Well, we did manage to stem back the tide. We saved many people, but we also lost many to those pesky critters, that attacked our town. But we are doing our best to get behind the source of all this. More I cannot say."

As the bottle arrives, both pause for the waiter to open the bottle and fill their glasses. As he leaves the table, Szaranoth opens the discussion again.

"As for your purse, alas, I regret to inform you, that one member of the gang was able to escape with magical means. He or she cast Spider Climb to scale the wall of the shop from the alley where they had set up their hideout. One member of the Varisians was killed, the others are now in custody. But your purse was already taken to another place by a member of the band, that we were not able to see. Only tracks up the wall gave us an indication of where to look. Sorry about your loss, Mister Libay, but that was all we were able to do."

Dark Archive

For Szaranoth

Spoiler:
"I appreciate your taking the trouble on my account." The waiter arrives with a bottle of very expensive wine. The waiter uncorks it and hands the corks to Libay who sniffs the wine's bouquet. Smiling, Libay pours a good measure of wine into your respective glasses. "To your health."

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

Radavel:

Spoiler:

"Thank you, and to yours." Szaranoth nods to Libay as they toast each other. The wine is indeed excellent. Szaranoth can't help himself to smack his lips upon tasting such a fine beverage. "As to the other question, that came up on the markte, Mister Libay." His voice drops a noticable nodge. "Is it safe here to talk?"

Dark Archive

For Szaranoth

Spoiler:
"Know that I am a rich man and I value my privacy. You can speak your mind without any worries."

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

Radavel

Spoiler:

"What can you tell me about 'Them'? Who are 'They'? And what are 'They' trying to do?"

Dark Archive

For Szaranoth

Spoiler:
Libay leans closer and whispers, "Are you familiar with Thassilon?"

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

Radavel:

Spoiler:

"That's some ancient myth, right?"

Dark Archive

That was fast. This the usual time you post?

For Szaranoth

Spoiler:
"No, my boy. Thassilon is all too real. Even the gulf of thousands of years will not keep us safe from its power. A few month ago in Kaer Maga, I heard rumors of a wizard conducting a ritual to empower a lost artifact of ancient Thassilon. The details are sketchy but that rumor gave me the certainty that perhaps other stories are indeed true. However, when I started on this quest, I always felt that there was someone or something always following me. And the loss of my purse only served to heighten my suspicions. I have a feeling that today's raid is somehow related to my quest."

Draining his glass, Libay continues, "I'd like to reveal more of what I suspect. But be warned: such knowledge is a burden to bear." For the first time you noticed the circles around the eyes of Libay, suggesting insomnia.

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

Radavel:
If I am not too swamped at work, I am able to have a high post rate during work hours.

Spoiler:

"Go ahead. It needs to step in line with my dreams and nightmares about dragons and falling through the air, drowning in the sea and spitting acid."

Dark Archive

I see; about to leave the office; update when I get home.

Spot Check DC 15** spoiler omitted **

Spot (1d20=19)

Etellio drinks brandy to go with his meal...adding some bread or such as possible. He'll probably have somewhere on the order of 5 or 6 such glasses to keep him warm.

However, perhaps because he's Varisian, he immediately spots the practiced movements of the men observing them. Today's sleight has clearly not been forgotten by the theives' kin yet...

Sleight of Hand (1d20+3=18)

Carefully as possible he utters a prestidigtation spell, and uses it alter the hues of Ameiko's dress to match the moods her song - something he hopes will attract everyone's attention. In his own case, he leans over to Targ (or Ingowil if she's closer), slightly pointing at her - as if amazed by the sight - while whispering:

"Be careful, we are being watched...it looks like today's thieves have friends. There...there...and there..." he utters the last part while trying to nod slightly in the direction of the the scarved observers.
He'll also try to make it a table discussion under the cover of observing the song.

Male Human Druid 2

I'm back! California was good, but the drive was too long... *Snores*
Grael politely accepts a glass of brandy, but doesn't drink it. "I really can't hold my brandy." He explains in a whisper. "What was that, Etellio? They had friends? I'm so glad that you took the time to point them out to the others and ignore me." He sarcastically comments, in a foul mood for some reason.

Dark Archive

Each of you emerge into a clearing from different directions. At the far end of clearing is a cliff and at its edge stands the scythe-wielder.

Sense Motive DC 15

Spoiler:
She appears to be considering the issue of whether or not to chance the cliff.

The scythe-wielder notices you and she brandishes her weapon in a warding gesture. "Do not come any closer!" She hisses.

Dark Archive

Everyone ignore the above post. It should be in another IC thread. I'm so embarrassed.

Male Half-elf Sorceror 1/Rogue 1

No worries...but man you had me confused as hell there for a minute. I was like..."WTH...did someone just come charging at us with a scythe???!!!"

Grael wrote:

Glad to hear you had a good trip!

Etellio, trying to again remain inconspicuous to their new observers, goes as if to get Grael another drink. He whispers. "My apologies, Grael...I was trying to make my talk seems natural. I had forgotten how sharp your ears are. In this crowd noise and bustle, they aren't easy to spot, and I merely wanted them to see them in case we are attacked."

"Perhaps your other senses can note something we can't, they are 30 degrees to your right." (making something up here to describe their location- hope that's OK)

Dark Archive

Works for me, Etellio.

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

Radavel:

Spoiler:

"What is this Thassilon about?"

Male Dwarf Ranger 2

Targ sets down his latest mug with a heavy THUMP.

"All right, I'm sick of this s#!t. We spend all day fighting goblins to save this town, and now these local ruffians want to give us a hard time, because we busted their buddies earlier today? I just want to relax, have a few drinks, and get some sleep. Maybe it's the booze talking, but I'll sleep a lot better knowing I don't have these scalliwags to worry about."

Targ tips back the rest of his drink, picks up his klar, and heads for the nearest person that Etellio pointed out.

Dark Archive

Targ approaches a man with a goatee. He flashes a smile at Targ, "Good evening, deputy. A fine night for a drink, isn't it? Might I offer you some?" He lazily swings his scarf in one hand.

Seeing as things will be less quiet in their actions than they hoped for this evening, Etellio sighs and stands. He gathers his energy for further spellcasting, and looks around to make sure there are no more "surprises" lurking in the crowd.

"My apologies, Miss Shalelu...but it seems we have a bit more trouble to deal with." Otherwise, he focuses his attention on Targ's conversation with the Varisian man.

"Yeah, it is a fine night for a drink. But I don't need one from the likes of you." Targ punctuates his words with a hard poke at the other man's chest. "How's about you and your friends take it somewhere else tonight? I'm finding the sight of you makes my drink taste funny. So just move along, and we'll call it even, and you won't have to get into any trouble. And believe me, boyo, trouble with me is the last thing you want tonight."

What the hell, I'll throw in an Intimidate roll just in case.
Intimidate (1d20-1=9)

Dark Archive

For Szaranoth

Spoiler:
"Thassilon is the name of ancient land where wizard-kings ruled. If my research is correct, then Sandpoint was part of that ancient land and beneath our feet treasure and magic beyond imagining is waiting for us to discover. But we must keep this matter confidential lest others dispute out claims."

"Officer, I need your help. Can you refer me to wizard who can cast a spell for me?"

Dark Archive

Still smiling, the man looks at Targ coolly, "No trouble, deputy. Just minding my business. Everyone should mind their own business." The man slaps a gold piece on the wooden surface of the table and moves away from Targ.

Dark Archive

Shalelu tells Etellio, "Your friend Targ is brave."

Dark Archive

For Ingowil

Spoiler:
Out of the corner of your eye, you see a suave debonair looking man. Why, it is the man you saved just a few hours ago. He looks very dashing.

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

Radavel:

Spoiler:

"That sure sounds interesting beyond belief, but I will trust your research. What kind of spell do you want this wizard to cast? I do not know of a wizard here, since I came to this town only yesterday, but I can certainly try to inconspicously ask the sheriff or other locals, and a colleague of myself is a bit versed in the arcane arts."

Male Dwarf Ranger 2
Radavel wrote:

Or stupid. :S

Targ heads back to the table, grumbling. "I sent him packing, but it's best to take care tonight. I don't think they're gone for good."

Spoiler:

Ingowil turns away from the entertaining sight of watching Targ and his conversations, and looks over to the man with a smile, blushing slightly. She turns back to her ale, not wanting to be caught staring at him.

Spoiler:

Szaranoth sips his wine waiting for an answer from Heinrich Libay.

Dark Archive

For Szaranoth

Spoiler:
"I need someone who has a spell which allows him to tell the magical properties of any artifact. You see, I have this..." Libay's voice trails off as he sees something that catches his attention. "I really have to be going, deputy. Do not worry about the bill." Libay moves quickly up the stairs. His face pale.

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

Radavel:

Spoiler:

Szaranoth is a tad confused of the behaviour of his host and looks about.
Spot (1d20+1=14)

Then he takes another sip from the wine and drinks a second glass taking in the surroundings (and also watching everyone here in the room).

Dark Archive

For Szaranoth

Spoiler:
You look around and do not notice anything out of the ordinary. The diners seem to be minding their own business, while the staff are on the look out for any customer's slightest summons.

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

Radavel:

Spoiler:

After finishing the second glass of this excellent vintage, Szaranoth recorks the bottle and says to the waiter: "Mr Libay will finish the bottle next time." The he will leave the establishment and make his way back to the Rusty Dragon.

I do't know when Szaranoth will return to the others as they are a bit advenced in the timeline.

Dark Archive

For Szaranoth

Spoiler:
I'll move the timeline an hour or two so you can rejoin the others. But I'll do that after I get a night's rest. Fortunately, the river near my home is not overflowing.

Male Dwarf Ranger 2

"So whaddya say, Etellio?" Targ asks. "Seen any more of these buggers, or did I scare 'em all off?"

Targ sits down heavily (and a bit unsteadily), and flashes a smile at Shalelu.

Dark Archive

Shalelu smiles back and offers a large tankard of ale, "You're good."

Dark Archive

An hour pass, the patrons of the Rusty Dragon make room to allow for dancing. A sweet slow music is played. Pairs take to the floor. A handsome nobleman approaches Ingowil, "Milady, may I have this dance." It is Aldern Foxglove.

Szaranoth, you can rejoin the party at the Rusty Dragon.

Ingowil looks very surprised. "Um, well.....Yes...I suppose..." She says haltingly, all the while blushing bright red. She gets to her feet, and shyly moves off with Aldern.

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

Szaranoth enters the Rusty Dragon as Ingovil is dancing with Aldern Foxglove. His face clouds over for the smallest of moments, then he rejoins the others. "Targ, Etellio, Grael. There you are. What's this party all about?"

Shalelu is with the party.

"Who knows? People can be strange when it comes to enjoying themselves."

male Human Dragon Shaman 2

"Grael, sometimes you need something to relief yourself from the danger of facing death. You did good today, enjoy the music and meal."

Then he looks to Shalelu. "Targ, thanks for keeping her at our table." He makes a small bow to the ranger. "I must apologize for not being able to join your discussions about those goblins, but I am more inclined to let the experts talk and then point me to where I am needed. And I had a visit to make, that I had promised earlier in the day to a man, who was the victim of a petty theft. May I ask for a dance? As the others kept you for the whole time and I was not able to present myself due to my absence."

Dark Archive

Next day.

You wake up with a splitting headache. Whatever you did the previous day is taking its toll.

Feel free to narrate your hazy recollection of the previous night's party. Nothing too outrageous. Did I say Extra XP? Yes.
