Keep on the Shadowfell

4th Edition

Liberty's Edge

Bruce Cordell says he's working on Keep on the Shadowfell; an adventure for 4e.
The name reminds me of Keep on the Borderlands from waaaaay back when. Not complaining, not whining, just noticing and conjecturing.

That one was originally for the original d&d system, a remake was done for 2nd edition dated a decade or so after the original perhaps its time it was done again this time for 4e after all it has the making of a campaign in one adventure alone!

Scarab Sages

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it might have something to do with the 4E version of Forgotten Realms. They have stated that FR will be the first published setting, and they are doing some big stuff with shadows and such (City of Shade and the return of Netheril, Twighlight War, etc.). It makes sense that, to promote the setting, they would produce an adventure for it. Having the name so closely match an old adventure may just be an attempt by WotC to appeal to some of the older crowd who have been playing longer.

Probably a better choice than the Shadow Marches for example, I still have some of those books that came with the boxed sets back when TSR did their First Quest and Introduction to d&d which pretty much hd the same adventures in them along with the audio cds.

How long before they show the cover for this intro to 4e?

Dark Archive

I just think it rocks that the 1st module will have a priest of Orcus.

Sounds like goodness to me.

hackamster has a nod to keep on the borderlands

Its kind of weird, but when I ran Keep On the Borderlands as a 3.5 updated module I made the Chaos Temple a temple of Orcus. I wonder if there will be any other similarities?

Intriguing, anyone care to say where they would set the Keep on the Borderlands?

I was thinking near Q'barra in the Eberron setting with it guarding the entrance through the Mhor Holds against the Valenar and others having it been the base for some Cyran loyalists who marched off to fight in the war and never returned.
Where would you locate it?

And as for Shadowfell any ideas as to what its background history is going to be?
Former shrine of Orcus sealed by the forces of good and looting, however the bad guys have stolen the front door key but are having trouble with the garage door opener since the evil only aspect of it has been replaced with only opened by a descendant of one of the buggars that stole it last time...
Care to give your own impressions on this or your own opinion?

Did you select one of the greyhawk gods to be behind the clergy?

I chose Pholtus.
