GameMastery Treasure Chest

Accessories

Hello Paizo Gang, I just noticed this product in the final issue of Dragon. Do you have any details beyond what was listed there? If not, when can we expect more info?

We'll be posting more info on this product once we get back from Gen Con. There's a cover image floating around the office that looks incredibly cool.

Saw the article in the final issue of dragon and am definitely looking forward to having all those goodies in one place (instead of individual orders)! Hope the price is good! Any Idea when the full write up and order info will be released?

Color me confused... I didn't see this at GenCon and I didn't subscribe to Dragon. So what exactly is it?

Me too. Huh?

It was a (literal) chest of GameMastery goodies (item cards, maps, exclusive adventure). If someone doesn't post the actual preview by the tomorrow morning, I will. Sorry magazine not accessible at the moment

I've been looking for a treasure chest to decorate my gaming room. Cool stuff inside would just be a bonus!

Dragon indicates it will include the Campaign Workbook, Critical Hit Deck, Item Cards: Elements of Power, Flip Mat: Woodlands, and Map Pack: Inns and a brand new GameMastery Module featuring a scavenger hunt through a haunted forest, complicated by a rival group of adventurers. The adventure is supposed to work with the maps, etc. All of this comes in a storage box which they do not describe.

If the box is cool, I think I'll still buy it, even if I own everything but the map pack (and of course the module). :D

I am looking forward to this fun mix of product in a treasure chest -- it sounds like a great "buy one for a friend, buy one for me gift."

Can I see a cover image as suggested or >gasp< order a couple to ship with my Pathfinder and GameMastery Module subscriptions automatically when they're available?

Can we get any more information on this yet. I assume you are now back from GenCon? :)

This looks really cool, and would make a great Christmas present for DMs out there. (I wish my group was reading this, I'll just have to buy one for myself.) It will be a great way to sample the various goodies Paizo has on offer, and I can see it hooking me on a number of their product lines.

Is the module that comes with it exclusive to the Chest, or would I get it in my normal GamesMastery Modules Subscription?

The description of "scavenger hunt through a haunted forest" doesn't sound like anything else I have heard of... D0 was kind of a savanger hunt, but the forest wasn't haunted....

Spoiler:
unless you count the witch's hut or Glintaxe in D1..

We'll have details on this next week. (Which is also when you'll be able to preorder it.)

It's not so much a scavenger hunt as having to recover several items from the depths of this haunted forest. Sorta' like a...well...a scavenger hunt, but there's more to it than just that like beginning with a brawl at the Travelers Stop Inn, a short trial, assorted bad guy/good guy interactions, a crime mystery to be solved, and then the aforementioned scavenger hunt thingy.

It's about the same length as D0: Hollow's Last Hope (iirc) and does indeed incorporate the various items included in the treasure chest. All for a party of 1st-level PCs.

And the cover is definitely way cool.

That's all the info I've got until something more official comes from the powers that be. Hope that tantalizes you.

SO that means 12:01 Sun morning right? you guys never sleep anyway (just kidding)

Isn't 12:00 a.m. technically Sunday? Why wait the extra minute? I want the details... YESTERDAY!

Technically, there is no such thing as 12:00pm or 12:00am, ante meridiem and post meridiem mean "before noon" and "after noon"

:)

Well, it's next week, so when are we getting the details :)

Sorry couldn't resist, but I am hanging out to find out more about this.

I forgot to post here... we put up the Treasure Chest a while back.

Waiting impatiently for it to flip over to "in stock." Holding off on buying the critical threat deck since it is included. Wonder if I ought to ask my wife for it as a Christmas thingie, or if they'd poof by then?

Well I considered ordering it directly form Paizo but almost got an heart attack when I noticed the shipping fee of 39.55$. Given the fact that the GameMastery Module included is the major selling point for me I guess I have to order it seperately.

I'm glad that the module is actually offered sepetately :).

I'm with you Celeblas. This is an awesome product, but the shipping cost is prohibitive.

I actually checked the shipping cost on getting all the items shipped to me individually, and it works out significantly cheaper. Since I already have the Crit Hit deck, and am not interested in the Campaign Workbook, or the Item Cards, (Although I would gladly have bought the Treasure Chest to actually check those things out) there is no reason for me to order the Treasure Chest.

I'll just grab the module and 2 map products for a ready to go adventure.

Although I must say Thanks to Paizo for making the Module available separately. Making it only available with the treasure chest would have resulted in more sales of the treasure chest i am sure (I know I would most probably have bought one in that case.)

Maybe. More likely it would have resulted in more angry customers. ;)

Gah! Totally forgot shipping. Wife was nice enough to tell me to order it as a retroactive birthday present (though I'm probably still going to wait until Christmas), but this would have killed it for sure. Luckily, for me it's under $10.

You know you want to throw a few random miniatures into the package…

Same.

I live in Australia and to get the Treasure Chest works out @
$49.99 (TC) + $41.65 (P&H) = $91.64 US (Although with the AUS$ so good at the moment it only works out @ just over $100.

To buy each item individually works out @
$64.87 (Items) + $19.72 (P&H) = $84.59
That's about $7US cheaper (or $10 AUS) for me to order individually!!

Not to mention the fact that the nice neatly pre-packaged item is more than DOUBLE the postage of the seperate items that weigh EXACTLY THE SAME!!! (...well + a little bit extra for the box)

I too am really only after the Module, but would have bought the TC if the shipping were on par with the individual items.

And hence the awesome that is Paizo. Certain... other games companies would not have cared about the customer backlash, and chosen to simply maximise profits. Just wanted to give kudos where they are due :)

Shipping is out of control lately. It makes it difficult to sell small or inexpensive items. People pay $5 for something in say, Canada, and then flip when it costs $16 to send it to them (not that I blame them). Not to mention the fricking customs forms and archaic rituals that have to be performed. Example: I shipped a pair of women’s stockings to Canada last week, right? I needed a tracking number, but didn’t want them to have to pay the $16 for UPSP Priority Intl., so I sent it USPS First Class Intl, which was like, under $2 originally. Then all of a sudden it’s an auto extra $10.15 for registered (the tracking number), plus the package (one of the nice things about priority is that the boxing stuff is free). I can’t abbreviate the business name or their name on the package (so I had to make up a name on the spot, as I only had a first initial), they glue (like, with a big sponge) these crazy brown labels on the thing (yet “I” can’t put any clear tape whatsoever on the package), stamp the hell out of it, ask me to hump a dead chicken for good fortune (ok, that part is a slight embellishment), and fill out “the big form” or customs will reeducate my family line. Somehow in all of this, I saved like a buck thirty, if you don’t count the hour I wasted doing the shipping dance and changing out of my grass skirt.

That's the beauty of Flat Rate shipping, assuming the stuff fits into the box. Once one of our Ebay customers breaks the weight threshold and it becomes cheaper for me to drive their crap (and by crap, I mean "fabulous merchandise" I lovingly tuck into each package as if it were my own child) to them (not that I would, some of these freaks send the most bizarre e-mails out of a heartfelt desire to share their "proclivities," holy hell), that's my excuse to play, "How much 100% awesome can Mike fit into one box?"

I am going to be so proud of myself when I got right up the the 20 pound international weight limit in packing materials, most likely right up until I look next to the box and still see the crap I forgot to put into the middle of the carton.

Unfortunately, International Flat Rate is still way more than I'd pay to get anything in the mail that didn’t come in a wooden crate or contain gold bullion from a sunken ship. $37 to Australia; "F that! Can you stomp on it and fax it to me instead?"

I wonder how long it would take to receive a package via “dork relay” as those of us on the boards move from city to city with your parcel?

After reading about all this shipping rate insanity, I decided to add the Treasure Chest to my cart and see what my shipping price would be out of curiosity. I am pleased by the fact that it came out to a very modest $8.95. FYI, I live in Arizona - around 1000 miles from Paizo HQ. However, I noticed this on the order page:

Will ship when all preordered items arrive at our warehouse:

Shipping Method
This order cannot be processed because an appropriate shipping rate cannot be found.

Note: Only UPS shipments are trackable. Only UPS 2nd Day Air and UPS Next Day Air shipments have guaranteed transit times.

The 'shipping method' text was in bright red and indicated that, as it says, an 'appropriate shipping rate' could not be found. What does this mean? Is it just because the item is a preorder or is there some hiccup in the Paizo order code? Either way, I thought I'd bring it up.

It might be because we don't know exactly, to the ounce, how much this thing will weigh. But I'm sure Vic or Gary could provide some kind of certain answer. :)

Yikes. That's all kinds of messed up. I'm looking into it.

Good man. That is the kind of thing I like to see.

I don't hold you personally responsible for every little corner of the site... It is a little difficult to "patrol" every bit and byte... But the moment something is brought to your attention, you jump on it.

Thank you for your dedication.

l forgot to post about this earlier.... We fixed the product description yesterday for the treasure chest so it should properly reflect its actual weight. Before the change, it was defaulting to a weight of 4 lbs, so shipping was being calculated incorrectly (way too much).

I also fixed the superbad bug which was causing it to claim it didn't have an available shipping method.

Sweet deal. Everything looks good and my shipping price is now showing as only $7.05. Those of you outside the U.S. should check again. The weight glitch may have made it look quite expensive while it should now be measurably less so.
