I went to the store and bought the Pathfinder BB to start a gaming group at the elementary school I work with. I took it to the Principal and let her have a look at it. The principal told me I could not use it because a certain ethnic group would think that I am teaching the Diabolism to their children. So I will just have to teach my neighbors kids. HAHAHAHAH

My Bengal cat disappeared. She darted out of the house two days ago and there's no sign of her. *sigh*
Laundry, football, children who won't listen. I know they are not super serious, but all the same. They make me cranky and they suck. :P

My stepdad just lost his job. Apparently his bosses were carrying out some sort of illegal practices, and law enforcement shut them down. This means no more work. Since he got the job through a temp agency, he doesn't really get any benefits, and the family doesn't have a lot of money to live off of. I'm heading to Job Corps in a couple weeks, so I'm not effected, but if my stepdad doesn't get another job soon things could get very bad for my family.

Ran out of food yesterday, so I decided to buy dinner at the student center cafeteria. Eighteen bucks for chicken tenders, onion rings, a bag of pretzels, and a drink. And on top of thing, I got a nice case of food poisoning that put me out of commission all night and most of today.

That kind of stuff pisses me off. The cafeteria at my last job would regularly serve things like undercooked chicken and pay a fortune for it. I stopped buying their food completely - not worth it in the least.
The place I work now has a cafeteria that is such a joke. You can almost never get by spending less than $12 on a lunch there, the food is always meh (and weird - duck tacos?), and they proudly display their big "B" from the California Department of Health. (Seriously, every little greasy hole in the wall gets an A. You practically need roaches in the salad to get a B.)
At least there is a little sandwich counter in the retail concourse of my building that has fantastic soup for $3.25. I live off of that stuff.
Woah. $18? What the f#+%? How can they justify charging that much?
S%+%, why not go out for fast food if they are just going to gouge you like that? You can get fed plenty for half that at most places.
So, I'm moving to Montana soon. I'm excited about it, except for one thing.
Homosexual sex is illegal in Montana. Now, the Supreme Court will not let the state enforce the sodomy laws, but they remain on the books, and an attempt last year to repeal them failed. So, there's no chance of me going to jail or anything over the laws. However, the fact that they exist sucks, even though it is illegal for the state to enforce said laws.
Also, there are no laws forbidding discrimination over sexual orientation or gender identity in Montana unless you live in Missoula.

I'm guessing you're not heading to Missoula then? In all honesty that sounds horrendous. Hopefully the states stance with the laws etc doesn't reflect the attitudes of the inhabitants that you meet.
I'll be living about 30 minutes from Missoula on a Job Corps center (Job Corps just so happens to have policies against LGBT discrimination ^_^), and after I graduate I want to move to Missoula or get a job in either California or New England.
I know that the law can't be enforced, but the fact that it exists and apparently still has support (the repeal last year failed, after all) disgusts me so much.
They also have a constitutional prohibition of gay marriage, and a 2009 attempt to legalize civil unions was shot down by the legislature very quickly.
Montana, California, and New England all seem like drastically different places to be choosing from. At least you know you're safe with the job that you have. I can hardly even imagine how horrid it must be for those less fortunate. Hopefully in time they see the error of their ways. It's always amazed me that people can complain about the sanctity of the institution of marriage being corrupted by such a thing, yet so little is done to try and outlaw divorce, or adultery. Ahh well, silly stupid people
I'm thinking of settling in Montana because that's where the Job Corps center I'm attending is, so I might stay in the area after graduation. However, California is my home state, so I might want to go back to where I came from. Yet, off all the regions in this country, New England fascinates me the most, so maybe I'll try and move there instead of staying in Montana or going back to California.
Yea, I'm safe for the next couple years, and I'm safe if I move to Missoula, go back to California, or go to New England. If I stay somewhere in Monatana other than Missoula, however, I don't have any legal protection from discrimination in the workplace. If they want to fire me for being transgendered or for being a lesbian, they have that right.
Lots can happen in a few years. Maybe it'll be a non-issue by the time it would have been. In any case i wish you luck.

So I parted ways with my boss last week. It was time and I had failed to secure an outjob. Which is fine, I'm going to be my own boss.
So money will be super tight for about 3 months during the startup.
Then today, after several years of looking, I found the perfect Land Rover D90 about 1/8 of mile down the street. He'll part with it but but I can't justify a toy purchase like that right now. So it's gonna get gone and I'll be back to paying full retail for a new 4x4 that is actually 20 years old. That sucks in the most petty and irrelevant way.

I suppose I've had this general malaise the last week or so. Had a pretty stressful last couple of months consisting of one deadbeat roommate losing his job because of drugs and the other leaving me to deal with the bills and his lazy behind by myself. The last four months have felt very much like an uphill battle to keep the bills and rent paid on time since neither FPL nor my landlord really give two pents about the situation. I've had to work two jobs and overtime in one to continue to get everything in on time, leaving me with around 2-4 hours of sleep per day. Combining insomnia/lack of sleep with having to cut back on cigarettes and soda and having little time for real food, my health has deteriorated significantly. Can barely sleep, can barely keep food down, and I have little time and desire for a relationship because I'm too busy taking care of a 32 year old manchild (mind you I'll be 25 in July). All in all, it's been a long four months of exasperation and reevaluating my current living situation. Kicking him is difficult after reading the lease so... I'm left to wait until it expires.
I have replaced the roommate that left with someone that's actively helping me and whipping the deadbeat into shape so that has relieved some of the tension in the household. My health unfortunately hasn't gotten better but it is much too expensive to go to the hospital. In addition, I feel like I need to leave this old person college town if only for a week. Tired of seeing old New Yorkers that can't drive and couldn't give a damn about pedestrians. I think leaving Florida and visiting home in SC would do me good and once I hit 25, I plan on renting a car and driving up for a couple of days.
Well, I suppose I probably can't visit family anymore on account of an angry (and possibly drunk) email from my dad which amounts to bitter hatred at me never visiting. So looks like when this is all said and done, I'll vacation in New York.

Just had to sink $900 into my truck (new exhaust, muffler, rear coil springs, rear struts, rear tie rods), which, unfortunately, was money I didn't have because I'd lent $700 to a friend so that he could pay his rent. I ended up borrowing more money from my family to pay for the repair work. Talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul...

I am so sorry to hear about your dog. 14 years is a long time, long enough that you start hoping they never pass because the final event becomes so inconceivable... how can this dog not be here? How can I live without her? By then even her annoying habits have become a deepset part of the fabric of your life, and only serve to intensify the feelings of love you have for the animal. There is a sense of belonging, of rightness, of "this is how it is" with a dog, they're always right there, they're a part of your life in a way that a car or tool or house can't be. Even relatives are different, there are complex relationships of history and love and resentment and old hatches buried; but dogs and cats, they are beside us and depend on us fully, for everything, and don't tell you you could've done this better or should have done that, they believe in you, they trust you.
Even if the last things we think about them while they're alive might be considered cruel by some—when Spooky the MIghty Hunter finally passed, when I had to put him down—his final days I hoped he would simply pass in the night so I wouldn't have to be the agent of his end. But he trusted me and we both knew it was my responsibility to take care of him, even at the end. Nobody deserves an end, but we all get one. If life works out for us, there is someone there at the end to help us feel loved and ease our passing. You were there for your dog, and your dog knew that, and felt the love. Accept the grief, but please also accept the love.
It tears your heart out to lose a beloved pet, especially a dog or a cat, for basically all the reasons Gary just said, and I feel for you right now. I couldn't even look at another dog for months after I carried my 14-year-old retriever into the vet to be put down due to kidney failure. But you never forget them; it gradually hurts less and less over time, and in the end you realize that you both made each others lives so much better for having known each other.
Right; things that suck....
Went to a baseball game with my Dad for a rare and much anticipated day of father-son R&R.
Spent 8 innings drowned out by the sound of the two guys behind us loudly complaining about EVERY. SINGLE. FREAKING. ASPECT. of the home team and the game in general in the most nasal, buzzsaw-like Chicago accents I have ever heard in my life, punctuated with the dumbest jokes ever fostered by alcohol. If they hadn't left before the start of the ninth I'd have called the whole thing a wash.
And to top it off, our team really did stink that night.
I remember when my ferret Nico died. He was 8 years old and grey, and was lethargic. His last night he pepped up a bit and we played for a few hours, and I put him in his hutch to sleep. He passed that night, but I knew he was happy.
I'll never own another one again. They are gone too quick :(
