Finally getting to 2nd place in our league and then, on the only week I miss of the entire year, losing enough points to drop 3-4 places. Being texted throughout the evening as it's happening.
Driving a ton in crappy weather while working 18 hour days. (I love my job, but the days are tough right now)
Wife is very stressed and nothing I do can seem to help in any way.

Drive safely please and I do hope that your wife destresses soon! Tell her that you love her and ask if there is anythignt hat you can do to help her out. Or just be a shoulder for her to cry on.
~winces~ 18 hour days? Ouch! Try to get some sleep! Do you drive a truck?

Better idea: lock him in a room with Henry Rollins for a few hours.

Thursday day - 'Remember when I told you at Thanksgiving that we were keeping you on for another year? The accounting people in Israel decided to cut back again, you're out at the end of the year...'
Thursday night - Ice storm, 250,000 people lose power (us among them). A tree branch from our property smashes down through the neighbors garage. Guess who gets to pay for that?
On the upside, we got power back by late Friday (others are being told that they'll might not have power back until Wednesday! Yikes!).

I didn't make the cut for the Core Mechanic's open call for artists. Nothing I didn't really expect, but it would have been nice to get my foot in the door.
There's plenty of time. You just need to keep practicing. Be obsessed and be obsessive. And there will always be folks looking for cheap art/artists willing to work for free. So there's plenty of opportunities ahead of you.
And big breasts are always going to be popular. As long as you don't replace the word "breasts" with "mutated fetus monsters", you're set.

Here in the UK it was reported as a 'pyramid trading scheme' rather than a 'ponzi', which makes it slightly more interesting casually listening to the news, if you're not paying attention... 'wait, what, an american fraudster guy was trading pyramids?'

This weekend a soldier I was mentoring as well as teaching at the UAS school died while conducting a ruck march for her German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.
As an instructor, I take a personal interest in all my soldiers and their professional career. Every now and then you get one whom you just get the feeling can do really great things, and you go even further out of your way to assist them. I have been unusually close with her entire class, and have really been putting forth extra effort to assist them with Warrant and Commissioned career paths as well as mentoring them on things like integrity, financial responsibility and teamwork.
Over the past 22 years I've lost fellow warriors for several reasons - illness, stupid decisions, combat ... For some reason this one is affecting me more than usual.

Bankruptcy and someone important to me being Bi-Polar.
Sorry, Jas. Hard times. :\ Not an appropriate time to tell you I'm digging on your Freefall Drift web comic? The selective use of color is very effective.

That's so awful. If it wasn't due to physical injury, do they know yet what caused her death?
I finally got my pink slip. I now join the hordes of the unemployed.
Aw, crap. Aside from unemployment checks, can you get any kind of aid to hold you over due to your chronic pain?

At this time, the incident is under investigation. Several of my students were rucking together with her, and they said she just collapsed, no warnings or anything.

The idea that the body, especially a strong body, can fail so finally and without warning is chilling.

Just browsing and saw what The Jade said about chronic pain and such. If it's not too personal for here may I ask what exactly does your condition consist of?

Probably best to link back to the Fibro thread . My comments are towards the end, a little bit after your post in that thread.
And don't worry, not too personal at all. I find I have become accustomed to admitting when I am in pain and talking about it openly.

I ask because depending on how severely it affects you and your own work history you may be eligible for social security disability. If you haven't looked into this or you have any more detailed questions about it drop my handle an email at yahoo.

So I quit my 2nd job last night becuase I was being sexually harassed by the male staff, confident that my job at the museum was safe.
Nope.
Got my letter, today's the last day.
Excellent. Really f%~%ing excellent.
Hey, that does suck. How lousy. :\
SH is something I've just never understood... it's like guys who aggressively flirt with waitresses (waitresses who aren't clearly into them, that is). You do realize she's working for tips here, right? Some people just need a captive, perhaps even bound, audience to ply their charms. Walk into a supermarket, go to the beverage aisle and try those lines on a woman shopping appy juice in bulk and let's see how well you fare, Romeo.

Not really. And I don't have the funds to get a lawyer, so it's not going to stop. There were other reasons for quitting but that's the main one.
So sorry for everyone else. Let's make our own jobs!
Jade: Oh. I. Know. I'm a really laid back person. I don't get upset by much. But there are lines that must not be crossed. Besides, working in a resturant sucks.

Trained for a job for 3/4 of a year. 4 weeks before my interview a nearby factory goes belly up. This floods the marked with experienced workers. merry f'%"#)= Yuletide.
Edited (turn of phrase)
Owch. Things like that just happen.I once took a training course for using a website design program, only to discover once the course had ended that the software in question was regarded as 'out of date' and everyone was using something else.
In your case, I don't know if being freshly-trained (equals 'cheap to employ') will work for you, perhaps; however I would suggest that it's important to be able to realistically assess the market, fast, and after your first few applications/interviews be prepared to recognise if you're actually in with a chance (ask for feedback, if possible) with what you've just trained for or not?
If not then you have to move on to something else, or get caught in a vicious cycle of applying for jobs you have no hope in hell of getting.

SH is something I won't tolerate. I fired half of my maintenance staff because they where hitting on the housekeepers all the time. I haven't had a problem with it since.

Oh, god... I almost knocked some dude's teeth out a couple of years ago because of how he was talking about some girl. Working at a Boy Scout camp is a very bad thing for some people: teenage boys, cooped up in the middle of the woods with no women at all except for one day of the week makes that one day of the week hell for any woman who decides to visit. There's nothing like watching people you normally consider friends devolve into cavemen every Wednesday.

My youngest just diagnosed with pneumonia...AGAIN. Oh, and an ear infection that apparently is still lingering.
This sucks because for the past 2 years, he has ended up in the ER at Children's Hospital with an extended stay through Christmas.
I am hoping that we caught this early enough that we all are home for the holidays THIS year.
