Okay, TB. Have a good trip. I know you'd authorized Mothman to play you while you're gone, does that still stand?
We're keeping a pretty easy pace, and it is sort of that time of year (at least for many parts of the Northern Hemisphere). I suspect we'll pick up the pace a bit more towards the end of August, but regardless, I'm happy with the way things are going as long as everyone else is.

Yeah, if Mothman wants to play my character for a few days, that'd be fine by me.

GentleGiant |

Sorry for not posting over the last couple of days.
I've sort of been caught up in all the 4th edition hubub + been busy with helping out my dad laying down a new 1,350 ft2 concrete floor for a new machine/storage building at his farm.
I'll get right back to posting tomorrow after running some errands. :-D

Question for Sean/DM:

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

Hey, TB. Sorry, I only just saw your question.
Let me think about it for a bit. I think maybe the best answer is that you found a boarding house -- basically some local who would rent you a room better than the flop house but cheaper than the Coach Inn. I'll give you a more solid answer in the next day or two.

No worries, thanks!

That is basically what I assumed I had done too, hence the description in my first post. :-)

I just want to take this opportunity to say that you're all doing some really great stuff, with strong characters. I'm happy with the pace we have, as long as you're all happy with it. Also, it seems like we're all in it for the duration, and I'm really enjoying the game.
Good work, all around. Keep it up.

Spoiler for DM:

TwiceBorn |

Sean,
How far out of town is the Whispering Cairn? Just wondering whether Harlon needs to purchase rations...
Also, what do you think of the Wormfood articles in Dragon? I have all the issues, but haven't read the articles (although I do know there is one about repairing some old home and transforming it as a home for PCs). Are these things you would want us to read and incorporate into the game?

Sean,

a couple hours outside of town by foot. Close enough that you can easy head back in to town for food or freash supplies if you really need to, but rations are always useful. Better to have an not need than need and not have.

Heh. I'm sure you've already noticed that I have included the abandoned building, however, I only have a couple of the Dragons from the AoW run.
I'm happy to let you guys have access to the Wormfood stuff, as I know it's meant to help players and add to the flavor, but I only have this early one, and a much later wormfood article, dealing with the higher powered stuff.
Also, I want to make sure everybody has equal access to them, so I'd hate for anybody to be left out. Still, I'm not opposed to allowing Wormfood stuff.

Just a heads up... We Canadians have a long weekend coming up, and I'll be out of town Saturday-Monday (though should be able to post Monday night).
And I have my move coming up on Saturday. I'll try and post something Friday and then I'll probably be offline until Monday.

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

It will be a busy weekend for me, and a long one, so I don't we'll be hurting too much with a weekend slowdown.

TwiceBorn |

Folks, I'm having internet problems at home (I can't access the net at all!). A technician is supposed to come by Thursday afternoon. I unfortunately don't have much time to post from work, sooooooo... DM, please NPC me as required until further notice! Sorry for the inconvenience!

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

AHA! I was wondering why Harlon was being so quiet. I've got to learn to check this thread more often.

TwiceBorn |

Arctaris wrote:Hey TwiceBorn, I really dig what you're doing with Harlon. He's easily one of the creepiest characters that I've adventured with.Fixed it for you ;-)
Thanks guys! I'm having a blast playing him - quite possibly my favourite character ever! And Arctaris, until last week, I totally forgot that you were the one playing Shamus (he's so different from Alton!). I really like the way you played that exchange with Harlon in the inn (i.e., the refugee connection)...
I think we have a very strong group of role players overall, and a DM who provides truly evocative and memorable descriptions... this campaign's been a blast so far.
Arctaris, I noticed in another thread that you recently picked up the Tome of Magic. All I can say is - enjoy! IMO, it's easily the best supplement WotC has put out...

Arctaris |

Yeah, I was pleased with that exchange as well. It'll be interesting to see how it developes. Shamus sure is different from Alton but he's a lot of fun. I can see how Harlon is one of your favorite characters.
The Tome of Magic rocks! It is easily my favorite supplement so far. I can't wait to play something from it. I like Binder and Shadowcaster a lot, although the Shadowcaster seems like they were trying a little to hard to make it's magic system different but its still a cool class. I haven't really looked Truenamer over that much but it sounds like it has possiblity.
Sean, the campaign is great so far; you've given it a really nice tone and your descriptions are great.

Jonventus |

Wow, I haven't been reading this thread at all, lol. I don't read Dragon very often, but my brother has most of them. If there's interesting background material for players, can someone send me the issue numbers?
fyi I'm having blast playing with all you guys, DM and players. The posts, descriptions, role-playing, and pace are all great.
Jon aka Rend

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

Ah! No, I don't think so. I can post one of my email addresses for a bit, and delete it once you have it.
sean(dot)kozma(at)gmail(dot)com.
I'm probably one of the least anonymous people on the 'net, so I don't mind posting it for a bit.

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

Huh. I didn't realize the delete function vanishes after an hour, too.
Maybe I can ask Vic to edit out that address. If not, I'm not too terribly bothered about it being there. It's bot-proofed, anyway.

TwiceBorn |

I must say that I really liked the little bit of roleplaying we had around the wolf encounter. It felt very "real" to me, and did alot to further reveal each character's distinct personality. All I can say is, I'm very pleased to have been given the opportunity to play in a group with such strong RPers...

I agree, great stuff all around! :-)

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

No word from him yet. I want to give him a couple more days before giving up on him (I really like Dalzig as a character).

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

Ha! I just heard back from him.
He's been busy starting up at college, but he'll stop by and post some more soon.
And since we're on the subject of business....
I just want to give everybody a heads up -- Tomorrow, I start a ten day install at the Universal Studios theme park, installing the sound systems for the mazes for Uni's Halloween Horror Nights.
I'll be able to post in the afternoons before work, and late at night (Pacific time) after I come home. I don't think it will affect the pace we've set, but I wanted to give everybody fair warning that the next ten days will be pretty busy for me.

GentleGiant |

Ouch, yeah that'll put a stick in your schedule.
I hope he gets his school business sorted out, that's a wee bit more important than playing (I know, heresy!).
Sean, Minister of KtSP |

Technically the wolf needed a cure light to regain consciousness (and it would have been seriously hurt still), but you only have to burn the cure minor. The Crimson Lady performed this one miracle at a discount, for reasons left to you to ponder.

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

Okay, I love Rend. He's a great character. Actually you've all created some of my favorite PCs ever, but I had to comment on Rend, due to his flopping down in the middle of the dias. I laughed out loud.
I hope I'm not frustrating you the player, Jon. I don't think so, but if I am, fear not, there's lots of great stuff coming.

I'll check this thread more often if its filled with compliments :) Seriously though, I'm having a lot of fun playing and am enjoying everyone's writing/playing style. Now if only I can get Kharid to carry a weapon...
Don't worry, I wasn't getting frustrated at all, at least not ooc. It was fun to see what the other characters were finding, even if Rend wasn't paying attention.

Ha! Never! ;-)
Well, Kharid IS carrying a club (his walking "stick), but it's hardly a sword or an axe. :-)My apologies for not posting for a little while, I'm bedridden with a nasty middle ear and ear canal infection combination. That's pain multiplied with itself numerous times for those who haven't tried it. :-(
Until I'm feeling better I probably won't post (I really should be in bed resting instead of writing this), so feel free to NPC Kharid until I return. :-)

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

No worries, GG. I've had a similar infection once myself, and yes, it was terribly painful. Rest up and get better, please.
Also, I've been pretty busy with the Halloween install, and on my precious few moments trying to move our game forward and write my own query for Flight of the Red Raven.

Yeah, a friend and I were going to write two queries for the open call, but had to give up when I became ill. Oh well, we'll try again at the next open call. :-D
Sean, Minister of KtSP |

I hope GentleGiant is healing up from his illness alright. Has anyone seen him around/know how to get ahold of him?

Arctaris |

My posting time is going to drop rather drastically until the 15th of November. My father, who was stuck in a very unpleasant management position, got a DWAI in August and just got this little anklet thing that keeps track of his movements so he doesn't deviate from a set schedule. Unfortunately the box that goes with this doohcky has to be plugged into the phone. Since we are on dial-up we don't have internet access for a whole f*~&ing month. Fortunately a friend who lives a couple of miles down the road will let us use his internet. I should be able to post on Fridays (mostly in the evening), sometimes Thursdays, and maybe a few othr days for a little while. I'm really enjoying the campaign so far and would like to continue but if you don't want to have such an unreliable player for a month I will completley understand if you want to replace me. I'd prefer to keep my slot but I'd understand. And yes, I'm pretty pissed at him.

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

I'd much prefer to keep the original party together as much as possible (and I'm hoping GG will turn up sooner or later), so unless it becomes a massive problem, I'd rather keep you, Arctaris.
I'm going to be getting busy again over the next couple of weeks, so let's just play it by ear, and see how it goes.
