Core Beliefs and Demonomicon compendiums?

Dragon Magazine General Discussion

Hi folks,

Given that Core Beliefs has been one of Dragon's most popular features... is there any chance that Paizo will attempt to secure permission from WotC to produce a Core Beliefs Compendium, much like the Monster Ecologies... but longer? Ideally, it would also include material on the faiths that weren't covered before Paizo's license expired.

I'm sure this would be a big seller... if only WotC gave their okay. A Demonomicon compendium would also be most welcome...

Who else would buy these items?

Liberty's Edge

I second the motion.

I also hope Monster Ecologies is actually ME I...

And a HC of the Complete D of I would be spectacular.

I would definitely like the core beliefs collection. I wish they could at least squeeze out a feature on Erthynul before retirement. Ever since Age of Worms came out, I had this idea of having the party be clerics of Erythnul, Vecna and Hextor looking to stamp out heresies among their ranks.

I'd be all over this/these. If each group is too slight to warrant a whole book, it wouldn't be too hard to combine them, thematically speaking. Something like "The Sacred & The Profane" (yes, I know I stole the title of a famous book by Mircea Eliade, but you get the idea).

Or "Of Divinities & Demons: ...". And as long as I'm wishing upon a star, and hoping that WOTC would grant this permission, I'd also hope they gave further permission to flesh out other GH deities & demon lords. You know, like all those ones referred to obliquely in the Fiendish Codices.

Hmmm... rather than making the Core Beliefs/Demonomicon compendium(s) a softcover volume (like the Dragon Ecologies), I think I'd rather it take the form of a hardcover like the Dragon Compendium (which, after all, was but volume 1)... yes, I'm still dreaming...

Yeah man, we desperately hope to make a Volume 2 as well.

*desperately hoping*

I think this would be a great idea too. In particular for Greyhawk fans having a good hardback supplement that expands upon the core religions and fiends of the Abyss would be great. I would love to see some of the more obscure Greyhawk deities find their way into the book as well. But at a minimum if they compiled from the Dragon issues and added the missing demon lords (out of the ones in the FC) and deities (out of the ones in PHB or better yet Deities & Demigods) that would be awesome and well worth the price.

i desperately hope that you do, too! :)

i also hope that, if WotC agrees to it, they give you the same kind of freedom with which you worked on DC1.

I too would love to see collected editions of Core Beliefs and the Demonomicon. I also like the idea of expanded content covering the deities and demons not covered before Dragon's expiration. I'm itching to learn more about Kord and his faithful, and Pale Night could well be my favorite demon if only I could learn a bit more about her.

Barring the actual possibility of getting compendiums for Core Beliefs and/or the Demonomicon, can somebody give me a list of issues that each appeared in?

I have some of them and would really like to fill out my collection at some point.
