I thought there was a thread on what readers might like to see in the Pathfinder books, but I couldn't find it, so I hope someone sees this post eventually.
I would love to see a full interior page (or two widescreen, landscape pages) reproducing the coverart with no titles or blurbs, etc.
I'll second that.

Yes. Fantastic suggestion.

Ok I asked this question in multiple spots and still no reply. I even called customer service and just got the answering machine. If it still goes unanswered then I will take that as a major sign and be able to proceed with the decision that needs to be made about my Dragon Sub.
I asked what is Pathfinder - looked on the FAQ and it just said it was an OGL adventure path? Is this correct for what I'm looking for?
Why would you make this named something that has the same name as the Dark Horse Comic, Movie of same name. Are you trying to get those people that figure its about this content and hope they sign up?
If it just like I asked an OGL adventure Path content why would you not choose an Original name and not play off of the name of others?

Pathfinder is a monthly 96-page full-color Adventure Path book. It is an open-ended series, with Adventure Paths that last six volumes, meaning we'll publish two Adventure Paths per year.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the recent movie, nor does it have anything to do with the 1840 James Fenimore Cooper novel or the Nissan sport utility vehicle.
We chose the name for two reasons: Because "path" is a reference to the Adventure Path, and because a Pathfinder is someone who is out ahead of the group forging new territory.
The similarity to the novel is a coincidence.

That, my good fellow, is right here.

Since we can't use any of the campaign settings owned by WotC, we'll be creating a brand new setting as a background for Pathfinder. The adventures themselves will be closely tied to the core fantasy swords & sorcery experience. In other words, Shackled City, Age of Worms, and Savage Tide would have fit perfectly into our new campaign setting.
Mr Jacobs,
With the idea that the Pathfinder world would have fit the other three adventure paths, will there be any plans to put out a free enhancement for how to transfer it over.I mean I can always do it myself, but if you have suggestions for world locations, and ideas for dieties and groups name conversions.
Thanks

Up until today, I was happy to just have my store credit. However -- I've seen enough of what Paizo is previewing and have decided to give this a shot. Even though adventure paths are not really my thing, I'm intrigued enough to see this through at least the first 6 issues or so.
Good sell on Paizo's part. Looks like a product that may end up being superior to the sum of its soon to be deceased forebears...

Elvnsword wrote something important: Could you give conversion notes for the existing adventure paths?
First I thought: How would you guys do that if the previous APs will be WotC property soon. But then I realized:
Until end of august it is still your adventure paths.
Until end of august you have full access to D&D and setting content.
And until end of august you certainly know much more about your new setting than you do now.
Yes, you see it coming again, but it sounds too good:
Until ceasing of Dragon and Dungeon magazine you still have access to everything D&D. And if you choose to give some conversion hints for your new campaign world before publication of Pathfinder, that would be perfectly legal, wouldn't it be? Of course you wouldn't give any such advice any more after your D&D license ends.
Until then immersion into your new campaign world and possibly transition would be considerably facilitated by such tips! :-)
Greetings,
Günther

Sadly, it is too good to be true. Our license only allows us to work with official D&D IP in the context of producing Dragon and Dungeon. (Anything else we do with Wizards of the Coast's IP, like the hardcovers, is licensed to us on a case-by-case basis.)

What I want to know is besides buying the products (which is a given) what other ways can we help you guys out? Can you give us a top ten list of things that would really help move the needle for you? What are the major challenges that you guys need to overcome in the next couple months and how can the fans help?
In addition to buying Paizo products, there are a number of things you can do. Perhaps the biggest one is spreading the word - telling your friends (and your local game store!) about all the great new things we're doing. After that, if you don't have a convenient FLGS, consider doing your game shopping at Paizo.com. And beyond that... well, honestly, just having you on these boards staying updated and giving us feedback is worthwhile in and of itself!

Personally, I frequent my local Shop quite a bit, read several comics each month, so on and so on...I had never heard of the _Pathfinder_ graphic novel until I saw the previews for the movie. In fact, I was looking for the latest _Dark Tower_ comic earlier this last weekend, ran across the spine of the _Pathfinder_ and almost pulled the bookcase over as I jerked it out...because I thought it had to do with the new Paizo initiative...stupid, I know, but it was a primal-thing. My point is, I associate myself with the comics-RPG-phantiphiles of America, and I never associated the two names until I read it (previous to your post) on the message boards here.
As far as the name, I am Pathfinder-qualified in the Army...I get a cool badge for my uniform (it's the Torch of Hermes complete with wings from his sandles) and it literally means I am supposedly expert at finding a path, a Pathfinder.
I associate the same concept with this new book series from Paizo. RPG adventurers are, one way or another, pathfinders; players are pathfinders for their PCs; _Pathfinder_ is also a nice touch on Paizo finding a new path for we RPG-ers who have now lost the paths mapped out in _Dungeon_...just my take.

Bravo! I should read ahead before posting; these professionals always say it so much better.

We won't be printing/publishing conversion notes for Pathfinder adventures to established game worlds like Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, and Eberron because we can't. That material is owned by WotC and we can't use it even in as marginal a case as conversion notes. However; I'm CERTAIN that once things get going, you'll see plenty of awesome conversion notes posted here on our messageboards or elsewhere by fans of those settings. At least... I hope that happens! :-)

Simple, publish it IN Dungeon magazine, or as a Web Enhancement the way the Age of Worms Overload was. No new licensing required. I think.

Dungeon doesn't have room to print conversions for its OWN Adventure Paths; we certainly don't have room to do so for future ones. And as an extension, it's more important to get caught up and finished with Savage Tide's conversion notes than to worry about Runelords.

Such a service has been discussed, and from what I've read from Erik in another thread it seems highly likely. First, though, the bosses must return from Vegas and GTS. :)

see that was my worry. 3.x is the best system they have done for D&D(it many flaws I can live with) and I can live with it other places give us good stuff to use. Cause as far as rumor go 4th is going to be the death knell of the type of game i like.

I'm sorry, I didn't explain that very well. Basically, though, it comes down to: We can't do it. It's just not allowed by our license.

Deimodius wrote:I would argue, however, that unlike traditional magazines, readers of Dragon and Dungeon are a niche market. Those advertisers already know that the readers of Pathfinder are their market, and if the subscription numbers are good, they might want in. Obviously they couldn't charge as much for ads, but it might help a bit.Well, if you can successfully make that pitch to advertising agencies, I foresee a future in sales. It's not really a theoretical exercise: advertisers pay for ads or they don't. I can't think of the last time I've seen an ad in a book, even a book that is marketed to a particular niche audience (including other gaming books).
Why not product placement, I will us my starbuck sword of dragon slaying.
