Multiclassing and feats

Scarab Sages

Our group is early in our 2nd attempt at a 3.5 edition campaign. We didnt allow multiclassing or prestige classes in the 1st; for the Savage Tide we're gonna try out multiclassing. Our human wizard has enough XPs to go to 3rd level and has chosen to add fighter as her 2nd class. How many feats does her character get?

Dark Archive

The wizard would gain 2 feats.....one for being 3rd level and a bonus feat for fighter, but she must take the bonus feat from the fighter list only

Scarab Sages

thanks much for the quick response.

Scarab Sages

by the way, which book did you find that in?

One for being Human, granted at 1st character level
One for being 1st character level
One for being 3rd character level
One (Scribe Scroll), granted at 1st Wizard level
One (chosen from the Fighter bonus list), granted at 1st Fighter level

So... Five in total.

Anything else I can help with?

Scarab Sages

thanks again, i think i've got it.

It's all in the Player's Handbook. Page 22, table 3-2: Experience and Level-Dependent Benefits; page 55, table 3-18: The Wizard; and page 39, table 3-9: The Fighter.

It's described in the Players Handbook, in the chapter on Classes. I think there's a section near the back of the chapter that describes how multi-classing works.

Remember the difference between character level and class levels. The feats that every character gets at levels 1, 3, etc. are based on total character level, not individual class level.
