Another take on the invasion (spoilers???)

Savage Tide Adventure Path

Ok, so I am 1 week away from the invasion (real time) and I think I have a cool idea.
As you know, I have had major problems with the fights tactics.
so, I figured out another option that Venthrus and crew moght use- what if he stages the abduction of an olman princess, then aided by the victimized villages warriors- attacks the big olman village? now, he not only gains allies- but farshore loses allies. Then, venthrus waits- sends an emmissary to farshore to negotiate surrender ( venthrus discovers that lavinia is here) and creating a marine blockade. Meanwhile lavinia wins the election and begins discussing options when the emmisary returns...they will lift the blockade if lavinia is surrendered. SO, public interest swings to hand her over (led by maravanchi) and lavinia is taken away.

Now, as soon as the party was able to- they teleported to sasserine and the party cleric spoke with the high priest of Osprem. The church agreed to send 200 troops and lots of trade goods in exchange for a position on the council and leadership of the church (see where i'm going with this?)

so the "invasion" now becomes a war and the party will be the attacker or defender as they wish. and the ground no longer favors the party.
why would i do this? well, my party is about to head into the big fight and they are only 9th level- and it just seems like a better tactic- will maravichi use the new found soldiers to annex olman villages? will venthrus beat him to it?

what is the best way to attack a heavily fortified harbor? a siege

Simple.... don't attack the harbour defences directly. Land your forces somewhere else and have them move using covered approaches to the weak defended areas (if the assault is expected from the sea and flanks of the harbour, then assault the land side of the town). Then using cover of darkness and low light like a partial moon, inflitrate and eliminate the sentries of the section of wall or a gate and move your forces quickly through the comporomised area. Now you have positional advantage and negated the wall for the defenders.

Liberty's Edge

Either way, taking down an enemy stronghold is always a good time.

One of the things that I did to throw a wrench in my players plans was to have the fleet arrive a week earlier thatn planned. I had the Yuan-ti open up a ship sized dimension door and the fleet sailed through. I also had the flag ship sail into the harbor way ahead of the others, cloaked in invisibility. When the portal opened, the ship became visible and opened fire on the other ships in the harbor. Only the Sea Wyvern was sparred because it was still in dry dock being repaired after a hit and run attack earlier. I ended up doing this because my players finished their prep early, and were starting to way over annalyze everything that was going on. I figured if I just threw them in to it, they would be fine. And they were.

I was planning on a war in my game also... I was or am going to have a parlay scene over the surrender of farshore. The landing party will be cloked in invisiblity sphere spells. and i might have more Crimson fleet ships just to make sure I can run most of the scenes in the module.I like your idea of turning over Lavinia. That would not go over well with my pc s they really like her..good luck running your game I run this encounter this saturday, hope yours turns out as well as mine has gone in the stap so far...
