Van Morrison's Tupelo Honey, which is one of my all-time faves.

Mrs Gersen's and my first dance as a newly-married couple was to that song. Awesome tune - definitely on my Top 50 All-Time list.

Black Flag

Gotta love it. When my sister-in-law decided she was a "hipster" and wanted to be into "punk," she was YouTubing all kinds of punk-lite songs. I played some Black Flag for her and her face sort of got all wooden and numb-looking, and she stammered, "Do they have to be so angry?" I tried to explain that that's kind of the point, but I don't think she understood me.

Oh, yeah, I'll post some actual songs eventually. Last night I was ad-libbing "I am the one who takes out the cat poop!" all evening -- I think Mrs. Gersen was debating taking a pickaxe to my head.

The night before I somehow went from Steely Dan's "Deacon Blues" to "Epic Rap Battles of History" (Justin Bieber vs. Beethoven is my favorite).

I'm now singing that to the tune of Black Gold of The Sun , which is a dreadful thing to do.

Has anyone else ever noticed that the whole Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum thing from "Jack and the Beanstalk" fits perfectly to the tune of "O Tannenbaum"?

Dark Archive

At the moment a 4 hour collection of epic style music that's part of several I have that goes for about 43 hours total. Has ones like Two Steps from Hell, Future Worlds Music, Mark Petrie, Audiomachine and a few others.

I never had Dear You, so, no opinion, although I think my hetero life partner has a copy.

I think I only ever had 24 Hour Revenge Therapy and some tracks on comps.

Ah, nostalgia...

LOVE that album. Almost as much as Nursery Cryme.

It was a tragic couple of days when Gabriel and then Hackett finally left.

So, I suffered from a terrible sore throat all last week, and started developing what looked like fungal growths on the back of my throat, and I looked it up on the internet and was convinved that I was going to die of AIDS.

Finally, after imagining myself dying from fungal growths invading my lungs, I went to a doctor, found out that I only have strep throat, and 24 hours later and some antibiotics I feel much better.

Reminded me of this song

For Big Star fans.

A little stream of consciousness:

The Replacements
The Box Tops
This Mortal Coil

Aaargh! I forgot yesterday's Monday Morning Jazz Brunch. F+~%ing strep throat!

Hmm, lessee...

Alex Chilton is 17 years old on that recording. How the hell did he get that voice?

That, of course, is a mystery of the ages.

In the meantime, more minimalist Replacements videos.

which doesnt necessarily remind me of

The Hold Steady

thanks for the Big Star documentary Doodlebug!! ...and rest in peace Chrissy. I really only knew her for her obvious charms at the time..but seeing all the links from 8th dwarf, I see I missed a pretty cool band. Ill be picking up some older divinyls stuff now, thanks!
