Black Flag - "Nervous Breakdown (live '84)"

I had forgotten how great their Live '84 album was. It's weird hearing this version of "Nervous Breakdown" with the '84 lineup (Greg Ginn/Henry Rollins/Kira Roessler/Bill Stevenson), as opposed to the original '79 Nervous Breakdown EP version (Greg Ginn/Keith Morris/Chuck Dukowski/Brian Migdol). I think I honestly prefer the '84 version to the original one.

Random Facebook articles informed me about an artist I had never heard of:

Article has a different title than what appeared in my Facebook feed, which was "Singer Presumed Dead Blames Acid Trip for 30-Year Hiatus"

One from the Guardian: Experience: I disappeared for 30 years

Anyway, Youtube mix:

Nyl - Nyl

Two minutes in, and I've already decided it's ace.

Some of them played with Magma, but it's not really reminiscent of that band, probably because it's quite guitar-heavy.

Randy Newman--12 Songs

Randy's playing at a park in Lowell tonight as part of the Summer Concert Series. It's a pretty interesting set up because they charge money, but you can just stand on the sidewalk and watch the whole thing for free.

It's kinda moot, though, since I have to work.

You should definitely check it out, preferably on their bandcamp where you can read the lyrics and sing-along.

I played hooky and went to the Randy Newman concert anyways.

A sixpack of cider and the ol' [bubble bubble bubble] completed the job.

Mr. Comrade got bored after a while and started randomly going "deep a dap a doob" in an exaggerated Randy mimicry, but then he would wander off for fifteen minutes and leave me with the ragtag bag of pensioners, hipsters and semi-homeless people similarly listening for free, which was great.

Just saw some local New England hipster types on Facebook enthusing over The Current and squeeing over internet contact with David Tibet(?).

David Tibet (Current 93) - Beausoleil. May not be to everyone's taste.

He put together a Shirley Collins compilation, too, which was very good. My Dad had it.

Oh, I assumed he was a Minneapolis deejay.

I guess they were hipper than me.

Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band - Rick Sings Nelson

'Sweet Mary' was a really good track; I'm not so sure about 'Thankyou Mr. Dolphin' (or whatever it was called), where Rick meets a dolphin who tells us we should all hold hands and love one another, but I understand things like that happened pretty frequently during the 1970s.

EDIT: J. Bastos - Loop Di Love

I hope someone else knows what the hell is going on here, because I sure don't.

(After listening to this song for twenty years, I looked up the chorus and discovered it was Horace.)

I've come to appreciate Ricky Nelson in the last few years. Im getting married in Sept of '18 and a good friend of mine is helping me come up with an Americana set to perform at the wedding. We are working on My Rifle, Pony, and me and Cindy like in Rio Bravo right now.
