I misread the first one as I clicked it on and went back to bopping around the boards. "Woah," I thought to myself, "I didn't know Jonathan Winters did ethereal indie-rock!"

I got a Great Gig in the Sky vibe from Jonathan Wilson's track. I love Winters but I only think of old country songs or jazz when I think of him. Not sure if he could pull off indie rock. heh

Forgot one for that list.

Lorde - Tennis Court.

The Undisputed Truth - Smiling Faces Sometimes

Lee Oskar - Haunted House

Weather Report - Third Stone From the Sun. Thanks to The Jade for pointing this guy out to me a while back.

Robin Trower - Somebody Calling

Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs

That's a pretty intimidating link, Geraint.

I'm currently at work and only have a radio to listen to and they are currently playing 21st century digital boy by Bad religion.

It's one of my favourite albums.

You don't expect double-disc concept albums from a band like Today Is The Day but it really works.

Also, I was venting a bit...

Vive le Rock'n'Roll!

And then, a couple of youtube videos I ran across yesterday:

Psycho Killer live at CBGB's, while they were still a three-piece (in the comments section you will find someone purporting to be Richard Lloyd of Television engaging in flamewars for the honor of Tina Weymouth)

Department of Defense footage of The MC5 at the 1968 DNC

And then, a couple of bumps:

Two Le Tigre videos, one involving D&D, the and one that doesn't

Goldfrapp and what's gotta be one of the best videos evah!

Sucka Free Sunday

HOPSIN - Ill Mind 6
and
Hop is Back

this guy has a new release in a few weeks. Ill gladly promote it however I can.

More independent rap:

DOOMTREE is on the move. P.O.S. is doing better I guess and dropping new stuff and making a dent in some tour dates.
POS - Lockpicks, Knives, Bricks and Bats. Its a remix of "Boltcutter" with the Marijuana Deathsquads (who hes out touring with).

and the posterman for Indy Rap:
Tech N9ne - Straight Out the Gate. Featuring a haunting vocal by Serj Tankian. This guy is solid here in MO. Totally owns the crowds at every show. Hope it transfers over for him. But just enough success so he doesnt lose control of his product.

ok. This one I havent fallen for yet, but hes big because of the SpringBreakers movie and Franco basing his crazyass character off this guy.
Dangeruss - Wish Em The Best

Flobots made a splash a couple years ago with (I can ride a bike with no) Handlebars, but they got other tracks- The Circle in the Square.

...and my friend Jarek keeps trying to get me to listen to Goldfrapp. Wish he woulda started with that video. LOL. Its like this one, but better!

I love all the youtube comments, by auto workers presumably, about the lack of safe breathing apparatuses.

Dragging myself away from the Motown extravaganza for a second,

More Lou

And for Jazz Brunch Monday, more passings

As far as I can remember, the only part in the SAAB factory that required breathing apparatuses was the paint shop.

(The welding sections obviously required facemasks for workers and safety goggles for passersby, but the air was fine.)

And speaking of the SAAB factory, here's a song told by "her young lover from Stallbacka Car Factory."

Sometimes Disney show tunes help alleviate the angry tone of some posters. So they make great background music... Or if you really WANT to feel the angst Evanesence is a good choice.

:)

...and another

Mussorgsky - Night on Bald Mountain. This one and the Rite of Spring part, were SO influential on me as a young nomad.

Cute video I just found for a cute Velvets song I've always loved

Since Littlehewy's Stolen iPod Mix-tape, I've been hankering for some Igor, too. Broke out my Stravinsky Conducts Stravinsky boxset. On vinyl, 'cuz I'm wicked cool.

I dont think I have any classical records. I have "The Good The Bad and The Ugly" soundtrack and "Days of Future Passed" and "Another Monty Python Record" that all look like they're classical records...and the Emerson Lake and Palmer version of Mussorgsky on cassette.

I don't know, that one was also pretty good.

The Bee Gees--Odessa

This one kinda flopped but has since seen hipster critical rehabilitation. My mother liked The Bee Gees second only to The Beatles, at least until the former went disco. She hated The Beach Boys.

Bee Gees -This Is Just Where I Came In

Confession: "Night fever" is the only song I will voluntarily dance to.

Charles Mingus--The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady

And a review by some random young woman/teenaged girl I found on youtube

Corvus Corax - 'Sverker'

Whoops! The weekend got away from me. My folks had a garage sale and I was the grunt schlepping stuff around and whatnot. Lol. They made a couple hundred bucks and mainly got rid of a BUNCH of stuff.

Anyway, Archie Bell and the Drells - Tighten Up

New Birth - I Can Understand It

Gerry and Paul - The Cat Walk

A late addition to the recent Motown and more extravaganza.

N2DEEP - Back to The Hotel

Warren G (with Nate Dogg) - Regulate

Bone Thugz n Harmony - First of tha Month

..and heres the BEST episode of MTv Cribs EVER! God I hated this show...except the Danzig episode. LOL! But that episode took itself too serious, then came f$*!in Redman. Pure Genius. I think this clip cuts off a line at the end...something like "If you comin back, bring me a pizza."

and a old school rap track to set it off:
3rd Bass - Pop Goes the Weasel

If you have a couple hours. American Masters produced a phenomenal piece on Jimi Hendrix.

drunken_nomad wrote:

Well, I probably will never listen to that song again (although I give them credit for the verse about making love to a goose), but I more than likely will watch that video over and over again.

I wonder if that Hendrix is available on Netflix?

And because I can't stop listening to Francoise.

The Anton Ellis is unavailable in the States, alas, and I'm holding off on the Prince Far I until I get to the Book of Psalms (which shouldn't be long now) but the Creation Rebel really hit the spot! [bubble bubble bubble]

Recently, I was making tapes for my car and realized that I have somehow lost the second disc of my 2cd Black Uhuru collection, but thankfully there's grooveshark.
