On second thought, I may have been thinking of Slade - which I guess means I should never visit Wolverhampton in case this comes out.

A little late for brunch in my time-zone, but others might still be able to fit it in:

Charlie Parker All-Stars:

Perhaps
Marmaduke
Steeplechase
Merry Go Round

And now, finally, I am done with all eight discs of my Charlie Parker box set. At least, for this year.

As I said above, re: Floyd, just don't listen to the classic rock radio station.

My alternatives [pun intended] on the radio here are county, country, country, or 24/7 Steelers Talk Radio. When it's not football season, the latter is even more boring than usual, if that's even possible!

Sadly, the satellite radio Mrs Gersen installed in my car for the drive up here from Texas stopped functioning somewhere in Ohio. Mrs Gersen thinks it's the mountains, although I'm at a loss as to how they'd block signals coming from space.

One of the benefits of driving a '97 Towncar (sadly, not a '98 Oldsmobile) is I've still got a tape player!

Satellite radio? Kindle? Xfinity On Demand?

Pah!

I'm trying to understand why I like this song so much -- it's like a compulsion whenever I'm on the computer at home.

It's a good song, plus, Lemmy has a voice.

No matter what I was watching, youtube kept suggesting this one, so eventually I gave in.

How strange.

Haven't read it in decades (well, at least one), so I don't remember now if it's in here, or if it was someone else entirely, who commented on the differences between Catholic (scatological) and Protestant (blasphemy) cursing.

Me, I like both kinds.

Nice to hear that Bluetones tune again :)

As for Black Belt Jones - YOW!, as the man himself would say while punching bad people repeatedly in the face.

At the moment, lots of Shin Joon Hyung related stuff, such as this and this, featuring the Pearl Sisters as well. Gets a bit samey, but a nice sound.

And I Barittas. If you're hungry for men dressed as Italian shepherds going through a vigorous twist routine, dig in.

A shipwreck off the island/fishing village of Smögen.

The Blue Bird (a brig, which you could probably figure out even if you don't speak Swedish) is caught in a storm off the Swedish west coast, so the captain says to have the Swede, Karl Stranne, take the wheel and secure him to it, as he knows the waters. This doesn't help, and Stranne tells the captain they're going to hit a reef, but that he's sure his old man will set out along with the other fishermen in the village.

He's right, but as Stranne's father is taking the captain away from the sinking ship, he asks if his son was on the ship, and the captain realises they've forgotten to cut him loose from the wheel. Oh, and it's all set on Christmas Eve.

So... very melodramatic.

Some '80s Nostalgia

Right now, it's the 2004 EP from The Decemberists - The Tain

Before that, I listened to the new Deafheaven album "Sunbather" on Spotify.

And before that, the new Austra album "Olympia," in iTunes. (I preordered the CD on Amazon, and received it this afternoon-- which was the release date!)

Being Boring with the Pet Shop Boys might just be my favourite music video ever.

I was at a feminist rally two Sundays ago, and I was spurred by the music choices to remember a comic I read for a little bit.

All the 90s Britpop reminded me of it, too.

Turns out it features a Scout Niblet performance, too.

Phonogram: Rue Britannia

Anyway, the third to last page features our phallocentric hero trying to defeat the Goddess by invoking the powers of Greg Dulli.

I was amused to discover that the NH feminists were rockin' out, pre-show, to the Whigs and Al Green.
