Force specialist spellcasters.

Where can a force spell specialist go after Argent Savant? With the spell compendium, theres a fair amount of force spells to choose from, and good "thematic fluff" can turn disintegrate, fabricate, teleport, gate, grease, and a few other spells into "force" spells.

But as far as classes go, is there anything besides the five levels of Argent Savant? I remember a magic missle specialist in Dragon Magazine, but I recal that was five levels as well. Any other good five level classes for a force specialist?

Archmage?

You could possibly argue Abjurant Champion (Complete Mage)- if you want to regard Mage Armor and Shield as force spells. By 5th-level (the limit), those spells each grant a +9 bonus- which is pretty powerful, really, but there you go.

The Abjurant Champion - Argent Savant combo is potentially lethal. Admittedly this is a powerful character anyway, but you'll see my point....

How about the Force Missle Mage from Dragon Compendium?

I don't have it in front of me but I recall it being an interesting mix with Argent Savant and some feats from PH2 (Arcane Thesis).

I haven't sat down to calculate it out to see if all 5 levels of all 3 classes can be had by L20, but a strong force mage combination would be all three of the mentioned classes:

Argent Savant
Force Missle Mage (It's in the Dragon Compendium)
Abjurant Champion

For your trouble, you'll receive:

* +20-22 to AC from Mage Armor and Shield
* 1-2 Extra Magic missles
* Magic missle spells will punch through shield spells and other stuff.
* Magic Missle spells will do any energy damage you want
* All force spells will do +2 damage per die (or just +2 damage)
* All Magic Missile Spells are stilled.
* All force spells are extended.

And much, much more.

Start as an evoker for 5 levels, then switch to master specialist from Complete Mage for the next 5 levels, then alternate between argent savant and force missile mage from DRAGON compendium I. By 20 level you should be 5/5/5/5 level. Then just continue with master specialist for 5 levels or switch to archmage for 5 levels. That should get you to 25th - 30th level. Abjurant champion requires you to take a martial weapon proficiency and you need to be a 10th-level wizard before you can take the prestige class unless you have a few martial levels, so it's not the best choice. Master Specialist is better for a force wizard as it helps them with their damaging spells and gives them some good bonuses.
