Shipping Costs To Australia

Customer Service

Is there any reason why the shipping costs to Australia are so high? I was going to order a Combat Pad but discovered that the shipping costs were something like $15! That is almost as much as the product itself. I have ordered RPG products from the US before and I have never paid that much to ship 1 item before. I can't imagine it is a weight issue either. How much could the Combat Pad possibly weigh?

The other issue I have is that I had to enter my credit card details before I could get a shipping estimate. Surely my shipping address and what I ordered is enough information to calculate and give me the shipping cost.

We're working on making our system a bit smarter about choosing among the viable shipping methods to different destinations for different weights, which may result in better prices particularly for lighter items to foreign countries, but don't expect shipping to Australia to ever be *that* much lower.

Once you've selected your address and moved to the payment info page, the shopping cart on the upper right does indeed display the shipping cost, even before you enter payment info.

The other issue I found with the magazine shipping to Australia was the time. Typically I was recieving my magazine after the issue came out in the stores. One of the main reasons I originally purchased a subscription was to get the magazine early and regularly.

Unfortuantely neither occured.

I had asked if perhaps a few magazines could be sent at once using a faster post but this idea was rejected.

Either way, saddly now I no longer subscribe.

Yes I too have just been bowled over by the postage cost to Australia, having ordered the boardgame bundle. Although the $10 discount is appreciated I will be interested in the postage stamp and how it compares to the postage quote before i can truely take + or - stance

Exactly my position, Olaf. I've now resorted to making my own, likely inferior, version of the Combat Pad.

I was also keen to order some Steel Sqwire goodies but, alas, the shipping cost has again killed that idea.

Note that at no point do we claim that buying a subscription means you'll get your magazine before they hit retail. We do indicate that they ship to subscribers before the newsstand date—usually by about two weeks—but we just don't have control over delivery once issues are in the postal systems. And, of course, the further you are from the mailing point, the less likely it is that you'll get it early.

Thanks for letting me know Lisa. I imagine you don't have a whole lot of room to move on the shipping costs. It just seems that another store I order from online has much better shipping rates. I have to wait between 8-12 weeks for the products to arrive but I prefer than than paying huge amounts for shipping.

You are also correct about the shipping cost showing up once you have selected an address. I either didn't notice it before or it didn't show up the first time since I didn't have a default address selected.

On a slightly related note, I noticed that my credit card details are stored on the system. While this is a nice feature, I would prefer if it wasn't. How do I go about removing it?

Ant, unlike the Combat Pad (which is only available through Paizo) at least with the Steel Sqwire goodies you can buy from them directly or from other online stores (I won't name names since they're Paizo's competitors). The shipping is much cheaper that way. Of course if you wanted it as part of a Paizo order then you may be stuck.

Go to your order history page and uncheck the box that says "Remember Payment Methods for Future Orders". (This box also appeared when you entered your credit card info; you could have unchecked it then.)

If you tried adding those things to your cart at the same time, you may have found that the shipping cost didn't change much, if at all, over just buying the combat pad. Right now, the difference between shipping 0.1 pounds and 1.9 pounds is often $0.

My advice to overseas customers is to try to bundle things together to save on postage.

Lisa, would this improve on time also? For example if I subscribed to Dungeon and requested that I had them sent 3 at time, using a better than standard method of post would this be possible?

Thanks for the advice, Lisa. Have you considered a career in Sales? ;-)

I have bundled things in the past when buying from Paizo but for some reason never bothered with these products. I'll give it a go and see how it works out.

Unfortunately, all subscriber copies are shipped on the same day directly from the printer, so it really isn't possible for us to make special shipping arrangements.

Thanks Lisa. I didn't realise that you could get to that when you had nothing in your cart.

I thought as much.

Thankyou anyway Michelle for your quick reply.
