Hi all,
"The Shattered Gates of Slaughtergarde" is coming out next month and I was wondering if anybody knows if there is any connection (evident or less evident) to Greyhawk in this module.
I know that it is supposed to be a core mega-adventure, but was wondering if it's "core-Greyhawk" or "core-non specified", so to speak.
Anyone knows of a "Valley of Obelisks" on the Flanaess?

In advance, thanks for your replies.

I haven't seen it, of course, but WotC's version of GH is leaving out any references to other campaign. In my experience, they also leave out any references to GH.

Anything generic done by WotC is Greyhawk. so unless it has Forgotten Realms or Eberron (or one-shots like Oriental Adventures and Ghostwalk) the default world is Greyhawk.
So they'd have us believe... but (un)fortunately I think that Aureus and Tatterdemalion are right. ;-)
Maybe WotC is saying anything "core" that they publish is supposed to be in Greyhawk, but that does not necessarily mean that it is actually "historically" the case.
So my question was more: does this new module draws on or references to any actual, pre-existing, Greyhawk location(s)/plot(s) or is it some totally new location/plot developped by Dave Noonan?
Does anyone know?

I found this article in the Sharn Inquisitive to be interesting.

Too true my tattered friend. Too True. And then they act amazed when we, the unloved, beg and plead for more Greyhawk-specific material. "Oh, but we give you Greyhawk", they whine, "Everything generic is automatically Greyhawk!"
In my own humble opinion, the fine folks at WotC can be real buttheads on occasion.

Good catch. So David Noonan who wrote "Shattered Gates" and writes the Sharn Inquisitive article is making sure that there is an official location for his module in Eberron... (or so it reads) Interesting...
Would it be again a case of a generic module written with another setting in mind than *their* core Greyhawk?

The only problem is that there is no Abyss in Eberron. However, there is Shavarath, which is a plane in which demons, devils and archons are locked in an eternal war creating and destroying alliances with one another constantly. It might be easy to think that the history of "Shattered Gates" took place during a time when Shavarath was coterminous.
