Just hopeful that a second volume may be in the works for 2007.

I can't talk about Paizo products too far out in advance, but I too would really like to see DCII in 2007. Or ever.

Email Wizards of the Coast and demand they let us do it. ;D

I understand that updating material would require their sayso, but why do they need to okay a product in general?

This thought came to me before when someone asked about the next Adventure Path hardcover and McArtor (or someone else from Paizo) said that it was up to WotC to allow it. Why is that? if it was good enough to put into either magazine, it would stand to reason that then you could put it into another product wihtout their approval.

It's because Paizo is a licensee of WIzards of the Coast. We pay for the right to produce actual official Dungeons & Dragons content (as opposed to D&D compatible d20 content that almost every other company can produce). As part of that licensing agreement, Wizards of the Coast takes ownership of everything we create that is official D&D content. Our license gives us the ability to create two magazines every month. Anything beyond that we can only create with permission.

Mike: What e-mail shold we send that request too?

I believe they're not giving the "yes" to Volume 2 because 4E may be coming soon. I hope that's not the reason (because I hope 4E never comes).

But then again why would they give the ok to title the book Volume One without a follow-up? Heck, why wouldn't they want a Volume 2 out ASAP after the success of Volume One?

WotC needs better employees, I've been saying so for a couple of years already with that issue. I think their marketing team are a group of brain-damaged orcs.

Oh I have no idea who would need to see it. I was mostly just kidding, anyway. But I guess I would start with their customer service email. Maybe you'll get lucky and receive a helpful rep. :)

Just curious ...

Does that include business interests outside the brand, or does it refer to material only created under the license?

For instance (not like I'm trying to find something ELSE for you hard-working fellas to do), but say you wanted to start a magazine called "Roleplaying Adventures," that was generic in its approach to rules (d20 or other), and did not include any branded content.

Good business sense aside, does the license agreement with Wizards prevent that?

I don't think it does. We can create all the d20 stuff we want, as evidenced by our excellent line of high-quality products known as GameMastery.

Willing to go to bat for you folks, as a fan and a consumer.

BUT I need a little direction.

Mike you and the crew know the industry. You have the contacts to tell me where to place my e-mail. You get that for me and I will try my luck.

and I'm not kidding...

I too will send an email, and maybe an online petition as well would help too.

I honestly don't know who you'd need to talk to about this. I'll look into it when I can, but don't hold your breath. :\

No worries brother.

Hhhmm... If you don't know whom we are to send an e-mail to...

how do you folks at Paizo know who to talk to in order to get permission for DC II? :pp

Greetings,
Günther

The person with whom Paizo speaks might not necessarily be a public contact. Additionally, it might not be one individual, but a team or department. Now whether or not that team or department has a chair or director is another story.

I don't talk to the people or person in charge of licensing over at Wizards the Coast. I don't even know who needs to give the permission. I also don't know who you would need to talk to try to convince Wizards of the Coast to let us do the book.

There are people at Paizo who know all that information, but I am not one of them.

I think this fella's in charge over there ...

It was pretty much the final word on the subject, really. Thanks for finding that, Troy! :D

Writing to those people at Paizo who are in the know about whom to ask at WotC:

You know that there is demand for a second Dragon compendium (according to this thread there is, and sales should be known to you...).

So it should be in your interest to clarify if WotC permits publication of another compendium. It is after all your sales and your economic well being...

But now those who will pay for it later are to talk WotC into accepting your proposal?!

What a strange world!

Greetings,
Günther

Anymore news?

I really, really liked the DC1. To not have at least one more would be a crime.

Crud.

I have never felt such mixed feelings about WotC. On one hand, they've got some awesome products coming up. On the other...blargh, they won't let you do DC2 yet!

*sigh*
