This might be answered by the scenario, backdrop article, or STPG, but since I've gotten neither yet I ask it here.
According to SCAP the Vanderborens where Cauldron commoners who where granted nobility about half-a-decade before the events in that campaign. They also only had one (adopted) child: Todd Vanderboren.
So, how are the Sasserine Vanderborens related to the Cauldron Vanderborens, if at all? Also, if they are related, how did the Sasserine Vanderborens become nobles, since my impression was that the letter of nobility that the Cauldron Vanderborens purchased only applied to themselves?

Yeah... the semi-complicated history of the Vanderboren family line is one of those bits of flavor that really doesn't impact the Savage Tide much at all. It would certainly have been cool to put it in there, but there was simply no room. If I recall correctly, I had to cut about 9,000 words from my own adventure to make it fit!
Which is why these messageboards are so handy!

Psst: It's also why hardcovers of these APs are such a great idea :)

The gamer in me could see how James et al are just like me, with volumes of interesting info developed behind the scenes - info that others will never see.
The customer in me would love to see huge Ptolus-like AP publications, filled with all sorts of nitty gritty goodness.
The reality is unfortunate - there just aren't enough people willing to pay $100+ for a tome like we'd all want to see. Many people will say they'd like to see such a product, but far fewer are willing to actually dish out the do$h for it.
Bummer.
That said, James et al could periodically publish small background pieces on the Paizo website. I've always thought that the APs needed a stremlined (sexier) product page.
(hint hint wink wink nudge nudge)
