I've read all the guidlines for submission to Dragon magazine, however, I'd feel much more comfortable seeing an example of other similiar articles to the one I'd like to send a query for. I'm not a subscriber, though I've been told by those that are that I could do well to make an attempt to have my stuff published here.
So, my question is, is there a sort of free preview magazine? Anything that'd allow me a glance at the content?
Oh, and as a secondary question, is the new format being used for monster-based submissions?

I've seen your work over on the Wizards boards, Tribble. And it is definitely good. I'd love to see it published in Dragon.
That being said, yes, the new format is being used, but I don't know if it's a requirment. (I haven't looked at the guidelines in a while.)http://www.paizo.com/preview
That link can take you to a PDF sample edition of various Dragon or Dungeon articles, but I believe it is out-of-date now. Some things have changed.

We do indeed use the new statblock format for monsters in both Dragon and Dungeon. If you include monsters or stats for NPCs, use of this new stat block format is required.
Although being familiar with the types of articles we run in the magazines is definately recomended to anyone who wants to submit articles, we do not offer free preview issues for either magazine for these purposes beyond what's included in the above link.

Thanks, though I have some examples to look over on some of the MM IV previews over on Wizards. I'm just having a problem finding all the bits and pieces, such as Weaknesses only appears in some, other parts in others...
Like the new fluff (despite the fact monsters are now twice as long and won't let you fit as much in a book :-/ ), but I loathe the crunch format. But for a go at publication I'll just have to hold my nose.
