My PCs want to rent a place to stay in Cauldron, and I have no idea what a reasonable monthly rate would be. The DMG gives upkeep costs, but doesn't say anything about renting a house. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for say, poor, average, and good accomodations? There are four characters, and they all want their own bedrooms.

Well My Pcs decided to rent a house as well, We figured that a 8 room Grand house would cost about , 350. Giving that a Grand house itself costs 5000gp to buy. thats not including their butler. Spoiled kids.
Thanks--that gives me a starting point. They aren't going to be able to afford anything that grand, although I'm sure they'd like to! I think they're going to end up in a leaky shed by the shore of Crater Lake! ;)

One of my characters is a noble and she's renting a place for about 20 gp a month. Its pretty swanky though near the top end of Cauldron.
20 sp for middle of the range.
20 cp for lower middle class.
2 cp for hovel near the lake's edge.
