Ah, 'Lord Who Walks through the Flames,' that would be no fun, now, would it, me spilling all of the magic beans and having the stalk grow before its time?
Patience with this one will win out in the end, as there is a great adventure in store therein. :)

Just one magic bean, sir! A little one; nobody would miss it!
Please sir, just let us shake the boxes, and peel back the gift wrapping a tad, oh nobody would be the wiser! The Jade |

We're the only ones still up. No one will know.

as you will uncle. i must say, maure castle is my all-time favorite d&d adventure, so i'm eager to gobble them up as quickly as you can get them published, but i'll try to restrain myself. ;)

I'm hoping to run all these Maure Castle adventures for a group of players at some point. They look really good so far. One thing I'd love to see at some point is an adventure or "background" article on the surface area where Maure Castle is located, and the upper levels and/or means of ingress to the lower levels featured in the adventures, preferably with some nearby town detailed to serve as an adventuring base, etc.

How many pages are slated for the Maure Castle installment for issue 139? I have no interest in a whole issue's worth of adventure pages devoted to Maure Castle again.
(Sorry to MC fans out there.)
This installment of Maure Castle will take up about the same amount of room in the magazine as the last one did back in issue #124. That is to say... it's one of the 3 adventrues in the issue. Fans of non-Maure Castle stuff can look for the first part of the Savage Tide Adventure Path or a new Forgotten Realms adventrue elsewhere in the same issue. I haven't done the issue's pagination yet so I can't say for sure how many pages it's gonna take up.

Hey, thanks for the compliment, Flamewalker! More are on the way for sure. Erik and I have even discussued the upper levels which were somewhat touched upon, as was the outdoor surroounding MC, in my unpublished article for LGJ, "The Mysterious Maure' (1998/'99 I believe). Perhaps it could be expanded on as a special for Dungeon or a free download, so bug James about that. :)

Uncle wrote:How do you find that information? MC minds want to know...All you have to do is click on your subscriptions and it gives you a short detailed report.
:-)
Judging from the fact that his name does not say "Subscriber" after it, he needs to first tie his subscription to his account. And I forget how that is done.

My subscription info says that my copy shipped yesterday! :D
Actually, everyone's subscription usually ships on the same day. The date it ships to subscribers can be found by following the Dungeon links to the current issue. It tells you when it shipped to subscribers and when it is supposed to hit the shelves of retailers.

I have issue 139 in my grubby paws, and have read through the Greater Halls, and just wanted to give praise for it. There is a certain mystique about adventures that have their roots in 1st edition (at least in my circle they do) but Maure Castle stands above the rest. WGR1 Greyhawk ruins had a somewhat similar feel to it but Maure is hands down superior. Any player going through Maure will almost automatically feel a certain amount of dread at what's probably lurking around every corner, combined with a sense of awe at the vast array of interesting and nefarious magical phenomena (example: the paintings in the Greater Halls), traps, or many odd and obscure treasures and magical items present that can be found no where else. And because a veteran designer of the game is writing it, I place more significance on what's in Maure, than I would if it were written by someone I'd never heard of who put a lot of powerful creatures and items in a published adventure.
Maure rocks. I'm very pleased to know that more installments are on the forseeable horizon. Keep writing Maure Uncle. It's second to none.

Great compliments, Allen, I'm honored. :)
I love writing this stuff, it's that simple. Newness, strangness, the unforseen, the mysterious--these elements all breed the awe and sense of forboding which is relevant to inspiring player mood, and in the hands (or paws) of a capable DM such work shines even brighter, as it's supposed to.
I will write these as long as DUNGEON is wanting installments; and James indicates that he definately wants more, so I am happy to oblige.
Thanks again. :)
