How long do you wait for subscription issues?

Dragon Magazine General Discussion

I don't know if I'm just being impatient, so I thought I'd throw this out to the message board.

When do you start getting your subscription copies in the mail?

I'm here in Oregon, and it seems like it takes quite some time for my subscription issue to get to me. Maybe I'm just being impatient, like I said, but I thought I'd check in w/ other folks here . . . Thanks . . . !

Subscriptions are sent media mail - a rate that basically equates to telling the post office "hey, deliver this when you get a chance" - that's part of why they can offer such a steep discount on the magazines for subscriptions - media mail is very inexpensive.

How quickly you receive the magazine will depend on your distance from the shipping facility (somewhere in the central US) and your particular post office. I usually get mine about a week to 4 days before the newstand date.

It's pretty chaotic for me, sometimes I get them only days after they're released, sometimes I get them up to 3 weeks later. I try to be mellow about it and haven't missed an issue yet, but I do know that if an issue ends up lost and it's been over a month or so, Paizo generally sends you a replacement copy if you let customer service know. Their customer service is outstanding.

Our guideline for the US is a minimum of two weeks, but after you've received a few issues, you should have a pretty good clue about your standard delivery timing (and then, of course, the issue after that will take an extra week and a half for no reason).

That's what used to happen to me, so I never renewed my subscription. It was very irritating to see them on sale in the shops but to still be waiting for my copy.

I will second the praise for customer service, but they can't do anything about the three different countries' post offices which each get an opportunity to mess up my mail.

Two months after the beginning of the cover date month, so far. I got my February issue in the first week of April, for instance, and the March issue in the first week of May.

Australia does have the worst shipping times, but that seems a bit long even by those standards.

So, I did get my issue yesterday . . . ! YAY!

I got mine (Dragon #344, w00t!) Saturday! *does the happy dance*

I live in Singapore. I got my May issue of Dungeon in May (amazing!) but have yet to see my April issue of Dungeon or my April and May issues of Dragon.

I was hoping that the delivery times would be better in Singapore than in Oz (I lived in Singapore before and used to receive RPGA periodicals quite promptly) but it seems just as bad as when I lived in Oz.

Oh well, time to find that Customer Service email....

I don't 'wait' for my subscription issues. When they come, they come. Speaking of which, I shoulbe getting a new Dungeon issue in the next 2 weeks....

Here in Greenville, SC, I get my issues the second Saturday after the subscriber mailing date. Which is annoying for two reasons:

1) My best friend often orders issues from the Paizo shop the same day the subscriber issues mail. She receives hers within 5 days.

2) By the time I receive my issues, not a couple of days later, the thing appears on the newsstand. My girlfriend is also an employee of Barnes & Noble. She can pull the issue out of the Monday morning newsstand shipment, and I can have it a full 24 hours before the newsstand date. And with her employee discount, I'm only paying $4 an issue.

Not too long ago, someone proposed a third subscription option where for paying more on the subscription, a better shipping method can be employed. I'd like to put in my vote for such a service as having subscriptions isn't an advantage...

From the time my subscription count decrements until I actually see the physical issue, about 2 weeks elapse.
