Jimbo! Do Swords / Beetles / Knights worm-attack? Favored Spawn (dragon #336)

How does a regenerating creature like a troll fare vs. worms? Would a beholder that is changed into a favored spawn of Kyuss lose his magical eye rays? I realize these critters both have +5 Nat. Armor (+15 w/the beholder). I find the +5 nat. armor rule pretty lame, as it says in Dragon #336 the worms easily burrow through bone. Would Call of the Worm kill a troll so they could not regenerate (perhaps dowing it long enough for a green worm to crawl into its mouth...)? Yeah, I like the idea of PC's facing a horde of Kyuss trolls led by a certain beholder....also any of the unique undead (Knights, Swords, Wormcallers, Beetles) gain the worm transfer attacka like the normal spawn? The text does not say, but perhaps not, since they are not listed as having Gift of Kyuss, or fear aura....

If I'm not mistaken, can't only humanoids be turned into Spawns of Kyuss?

One of the recent Dragon magazines hs the Favored of Kyuss, which included a Mastiff dog and a couple of other critters...and the Spire of Long Shadows had the beetles ("Hound of Kyuss") and some other monsters. So I think just about any living critter with a brain that can be affected could become a 'something' of Kyuss (Favored, spawn, son, etc)

Yeah; the favored spawn of Kyuss from Dragon #336 was my attempt to fix a terrible lost opportunity; the opportunity for non-humanoid spawn of Kyuss.

Standard Kyuss worms are blocked by natural armor of +5 or higher. Regeneration won't stop them; effecively, these simply close up the tube they leave behind in the meat. The worm keeps eating through the meat till it reaches the brain, regeneration/fast healing notwithstanding.

A beholder that becomes a favored spawn retains its eye rays, just as a creature with a gaze attack would retain the gaze attack. Favored spawn of Kyuss aren't blind... they just don't have eyes.

Some of the non-spawn of Kyuss monsters gain the ability to transfer worms to targets, but most of them do not. Unless the text says they can create spawn or otherwise inflict worms on people, they can't.
