My players have all been working on their backgrounds, and my head is so stuffed full of this Adventure that I think I'm going to burst.
We haven't started yet but we are nearly ready to go. My players have done the longest prep and background type stuff they've ever bothered to do and yet somehow, ironically, we have managed to end up starting the campaign with getting together in an Inn!
Here's the little intro I have put together for them to read before the first session. Using their background, things they've been discussing with me and a little help from each of them.

Nice intro...quick question. Where do you find the parchment gif/jpg images you used?

Thanks.
The parchment is simply knocked together in Photoshop.
1. I start with a brown rectangle.
2. Erase around the edges to get a nice uneven edge.
3. Sharpen it to get rid of some of the softness from the eraser.
4. Create a new alpha channel.
5. Render some clouds to that channel.
6. Turn it off and go back to the parchment layer.
7. Render some light effects using a directional light, select the new alpha channel as the texture channel.
8. Fiddle with the hue/saturation a bit till I'm happy.
9. Use the burn tool around the edges.
There you go one bit of parchment in about 5 minutes.
The lengthy bit is making the edges untidy, much helped though by having a tablet and stylus.
