with the Spell Compendium rapidly approaching, i've been wondering something more and more.
would the Dragon staff like to see articles of spell conversions? there are, after all, hundreds of old spells to choose from, so a theme shouldn't be too hard to invent. ;)
naturally, some spells were exised for rules consistency reasons, and some were killed because they were too similar to something else or otherwise no longer necessary. but that's only the icing on the cake.

The Spell Compendium was released on Friday, December 2nd. Included in the book were conversations of all 3.0 spells written for articles from Dragon #275 - #328 and Annual #5. In addition, several dozen spells from numerous articles from the WOTC web site are also updated....
Now if you are considering converting spells from editions older than 3.0, that would be extremely useful....

There used to be the wizard's spell and the priest's spell compendium for 2nd edition. If I remember correctly, they consisted of five, respectively four books.
So there should be PLENTY of spell material to be converted. ;-)
One more point (maybe you guys at Paizo are interested in this):
If it comes to setting specific information (namely the FR in my case), every regional supplement contains a lot of feats and new ARCANE spells, but just a minor amount of divine or other spells (assassin, special bard spells). And then it is just that: a collection of new spells and feats that could be implemented in next to every region of the campaign setting.
I am aware that you published bard specific information for the FR some issues ago. I loved that article! Maybe there is enough demand for further articles of that kind?
The fun about magic in a large campaign setting is, that there are different magical traditions (i.e. not just spells) in different areas. Maybe Dragon would like to add more region specific lore (not just feats and exchangeable spells) in order to flesh out the regions?
Greetings,
Günther

I'd like to see something like this done too. I've got a feeling this has probably been discussed by Paizo editorial, and I'd bet they'd rather not have an open call on such a thing to prevent A. The deluge of responses too numerous to deal with that'd take years to read through and B. a lack of focus on new ideas.
So, how about this: A conversion competition. Editorial selects a set of old spells, and we convert them! A firm deadline for sanity's sake, and the prize of getting a spell published.
Possible?
If so, I'd like to try it!
