(Trying again - the forum monster seems to have eaten the first post)
Hey all,
Requesting some advice on plotlines, major NPCs, side quests and approaches concerning Age of Worms and the City of Greyhawk.
It’s been a long time since I played in Greyhawk and I don’t think that I’ve ever set a campaign in it. (If I have it was a short lived experiment 25+ years ago!).
To help prepare for the “Free City of Greyhawk” portion of the AoW campaign, I’ve done some shopping. I have the Living Greyhawk Gazeteer for 3e, and I recently purchased Issues 0,1,2,3,4, and 5 of the Living Greyhawk Journal off of ebay. (I paid too much, but I really wanted the poster map of the City of Greyhawk in Issue #2.)
I have a plethora of 1st and 2ed Greyhawk material in print and in .pdf form. I expect there are some products I should odnwplay and others I should rely on more.
If I had to prioritize getting 5 or 6 products in print form for Greyhawk (apart from the 3e stuff mentioned above) what should I be concentrating on?
What plot hooks and spins are working best for those who are further progressed in the AoW campaign than I (approx. one session left in Whisp Cairn).
Any campaign seeds to share?
Any and all advice is very welcome.

Well, the City of Greyhawk Box is chock full with details about the Free City. The Falcon series of modules has some further city details and a few nice npcs, nice to have over all, but not crucial.
Rary the Traitor details the bright desert. The From the Ashes box has some canon issues, but is still a good source about the greyhawk domain. Slavers has some details about the southern wild coast. It depends upon where you want to set up your story.Check out the LGJs in Dungeon/Dragon, one of them had a long piece about Hardby.
The various Living Greyhawk websites might give a starting point for regional adventures.
The canonfire website has a wealth of fan-made information about greyhawk and is always worth a look.
As I´m writing by memory here, I probably have overlooked something, but it might provide a starting point.

I set AoW in Greyhawk as well. I have never run a game in Greyhawk or even played in one, but I thought it would be fun. I picked up the #e stuff as well, which gives most of the background stuff. The Greyhawk boxed set is great for when they get to the free city. The huge Hardy be article for Dungeon is nice as well (especially since my group is from Harby). I took the four Greyhawk maos from Dungeon (issues 118-121 I think) and made it into a huge laminated map. All the should be plenty to keep you and your player busy.

Welcome (back) to Greyhawk. The RPGA journals are worth the money. Judging from what you've mentioned, I think you have a well established foundation of information for the Domain of Greyhawk. Having everything in print, these are the products I've found myself consulting repeatedly:
Player's Guide to Greyhawk Great map of the domain, perfect material for the players to read to get in-character.
Doomgrinder Additional tidbits on the Cult of the Green Lady and Diamond Lake along with Ery Crossings, Steaming Springs and the FC. It's my escape hatch if the game goes south.
Rod of the Seven Parts Finally getting some use out of this boxset to help maintain some of the vaati influence to some thematic elements for my game.
Crypt of Lyzandrid the Mad & The Star Cairns help with atmosphere and some chronology of the cairns.
City of Greyhawk Out of date, canon-wise, but still very useful.
The need for additional material for the Free City depends on how much "free-reign" you want to give the PCs while in the city. Knowing a typical party, six PCs will go six different directions. The FC is conveniently laid out in three sections that conform to the three socio-economic distinctions of lower/middle/upper class. Most of the material takes place in the middle section (Foreign, River, Clerk districts if memory serves me). That should make it somewhat easier to generalize the population the PCs will interact with.
