I am thinking about changing the skulks into goblins and either leaving the Dark Stalkers and Creepers alone or changing the Yuathbid (sp?) into a Blue. Does anyone see any problem with this?
The reason I am considering this is that when I come off my current campaign, which is Planescape based, the players would of already fought and dealt with a lot of odd monsters. Its been years since we fought against the "standard fair" monsters of D&D. Also I will have 3 new players who have never really played D&D so goblins would be fresh for them. Goblins also seem to fit in better with the overall "ecosystem" of this module as you have hobgoblins and an ogre deeper down culminating in a possible fight with a troll (atleast a half troll).
But I am just concerned making the change may affect the dynamic of Jzadirune in an unforseen way.
Thanks.

I think it's worth remembering that Skulks are (IIRC) CR 1 monsters, so you'll need more Goblins to balance the challenge, unless, and I'd probably do this If I were you, you make them Goblin Rogues 1 ... otherwise you'll end up with straight out fight encounters with warrior goblins as opposed to the hit and run battles you'd get with the skulks.
I'd keep the skulks, because their racial backstory parralels the vanishing in Jzadirune, but YMMV.

Sounds like a good idea.

Really? As in their background from the module or from the Fiend Folio?
Thanks.

The Skulk back story in the Fiend Folio has them as an ancient "untouchable" slave race who were treated like possesions by their masters; eventually the race as a whole undertook a magical ritual that made them disappear fromt here master's sight, since in a way they were never there anyway - kinda like the girl in Buffy who is ignored so much by her school mates that she feels invisible, and eventually actually fades from sight altogether.
