Two centuries ago, a cult later known as the Black Brotherhood insinuated itself into the kingdom, becoming a cancer that devoured all that was good and clean. Sacrifices under the dark tapestry of the night started small, but soon, villagers went missing, and eventually some of the very nobles that had supported the Brotherhood. Open warfare between the crown and the Brotherhood erupted, but as the armies approached the gates of the keep—built upon lands granted by royalty—walls of green flame devoured The Black Monastery. Leaving behind rubble and the cursed dungeons of its foundation, the people of the countryside breathed a sigh of relief—if only for a moment. The hour is at hand for the return of The Black Monastery, its arrival marked by madness and murder surrounding the Hill of Mornay. Every time the Monastery comes back, though, it stays for just a little bit longer than the last, its malign influence spreading farther than the dark shadows of its towers.
