Two new Pathfinder Miniatures are here!

Our friends over at Reaper Miniatures have LOTS of cool plans for the Pathfinder Miniatures line in 2011, but that didn't stop them from sneaking out a couple of last minis for 2010!

At Paizo, we always get excited about new books arriving, but I think the folks at Reaper may be just as excited as we are when a new Pathfinder RPG hardcover arrives. To celebrate this month's release of the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 2, they've created a miniature of the Keketar Protean that Wayne Reynolds illustrated for the cover. Individual keketars range from 7 to 40 feet long, though they constantly shift and change like the unformed reality of the Maelstrom itself, altering color and serpentine banding patterns, shrinking or elongating, and undergoing even more radical physical changes. However, a keketar possesses two static features: first, whatever configuration its body takes, its eyes are always a piercing shade of violet; and second, a whirling ring of ever-changing symbols floats above and around its head like a shapeshifting crown. The cloud's symbols coil, snarl, and intermingle with one another, gradually merging and mutating without apparent pattern. Each keketar is marked by unique stylistic elements within the symbols and the general orientation and appearance of the crown—useful for distinguishing between different individuals. They can hide or manifest this crown at will, but they usually leave it visible.

The last Pathfinder Miniature of the year goes all the way back to the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook: It's our Half-Orc Assassin prestige class iconic. I'm not really sure why the assassin is the first of these prestige classes to get made into metal, but I do have a note here that asks me to tell the folks at Reaper that the contract has been called off and that they should have a wonderful holiday season.

Yea, the only reason I came into the comments on this post was because of the contract comment. I was like if they're canceling Reaper, then I might have to cancel Paizo. It would have been a major blow to my oppinion of them.

Well I got the reference anyway. :-P

I did want to comment that I've bought some Reaper miniatures and I really like them. (Of course, because they're great!) I'm very happy that they're doing the Pathfinder miniatures and hope the series is very successful and continues for a long time to come.

The biggest problem I have is that my eyes are far bigger than my wallet and far far bigger than my ability to paint what I buy. When I see more miniatures I want, I have to tell myself "but you still have 4 pugwampis yet unopened, a dancing girl, a ..." the list goes on. They come out faster than I can buy them, and I buy them faster than I can ever hope to assemble and paint them.

Am I the only one who got the iconic Eldritch Knight, which has been out for a while? First iconic prestige class my eye. :P

On the other hand, very glad I pre-ordered both of these minis. :)

Ahhh, I can see your point. But Seltyiel is now the iconic Magus for the upcoming Ultimate Magic book, so I think of him as that rather than the Eldritch Knight. But you are also correct.

I thought that sketch looked suspiciously familiar. Makes sense that the Assassin is the first of the Prestige Classes, then. Mostly just curious. Thanks for the clarification.
