Primal Magic that, through use, animates clothes.

Advice

Just to point out: this is a different player's idea and I am trying to figure out how to make it work with the Pathfinder system while allowing it to neither be game breaking or reliably power-creepish.

So one of the character concepts for the game I am in is that the PC's magic is inherently evil and chaotic. For this reason he permanently have a 50% chance to primal magic each turn.

His shtick is that the corruption caused by his magical powers is shunted into his clothes. This causes his clothes to eventually come alive and either attack him or cause some sort of other effect.

His end game desire is to gain control of his clothing and be able to animate objects with touch.

My idea for this, and my recommendation to the GM, was to make his clothes intelligent items, or at least just treat his "clothes" as a whole instead of individual. The problem is that he is a Black Blade Magus as well, so we'll have to skip a rule to make this happen.

How would you guys handle this?

My base assumption is this:
His Primal Magic operates on CR = his caster level.
He can use the 15+spell level concentration check to negate this chance.

For his corrupted clothing, I offered an intelligent item.
The power of this item is based on its Ego, which would likely be tied to his CL.
The item works like this:
It begins with 10 intelligence. Every 2 levels thereafter the item's charisma increases by 1 to a max of 20 at level 19. The item's Ego scales with this via the Int Item Rules.
The item's Ego increases by 1 every other level.
It does not gain Item powers, but instead dedicated powers exclusively. A failed Ego check to control the item causes it to use its powers to try and kill the wielder.
Spells:
(lvl 01)(+1 ego)0—(At-will) Ghost Sound
(lvl 01)(+1 ego)1—(At-will) Silent Image
(lvl 03)(+1 ego)2—(At-will) Minor Image
(lvl 05)(+1 ego)3—(At-will) Major Image
(lvl 07)(+2 ego)4—(At-will) Shadow Conjuration
(lvl 09)(+2 ego)5—(At-will) Seeming
(lvl 11)(+2 ego)6—(At-will) Veil
(lvl 13)(+2 ego)7—(At-will) Greater Shadow Conjuration
(lvl 15)(+2 ego)8—(At-will) Greater Shadow Evocation
(lvl 17)(+2 ego)9—(At-will) Shades

Int ego increases:
(lvl 03) +1 ego
(lvl 07) +1 ego
(lvl 11) +1 ego
(lvl 15) +1 ego
(lvl 19) +1 ego

Every two caster levels the Ego of the item increases by 1 (min 1).

20: 33(10+1+1+1+1+1+2+1+2+2+1+2+2+1+2+2+1)

How to deal with this item:
If the PC fails his ego check on the item it is working against him for the day. However, it cannot move on its own. All he needs to do is discard the afflicted clothes.
The caster must make an Ego Check against the magical item at the beginning of every day if he did not discard it.
If he is not in physical contact with the afflicted clothes and casts a spell there is a 50% chance, in the event of a Primal Event, that his clothes manifest. If he has not made an Ego check that day he makes it then.

The possessed clothing is Chaotic Evil, but does not bestow the negative levels as normally. It uses its standard action to complicate combat with its At-Will spells. The DM should be doing this in the background without the PCs knowing the source of the spell.

The will save VS the ego score is relatively difficult for a reason. If the PC could reliably defeat the item then it would cause a balance issue. However, if the item has to be regularly discarded then the amount of power creep is not quite so dire. This said, when the clothes gain the ability to cast Shadow Conjuration it can still use that to pursue the PCs beyond its sight range by summoned monsters being released to attack and kill anything they see.
