My case + dragon arrived today (not a subscription or pre-order; this is where my Christmas discount went!). I have a complete set (one each of all the rare items, either two or three of all the uncommon ones, and at least three of all the common figures except the medium fire elemental). Several of the large figures had come loose during transport and attacked their smaller companions, but there was only one casualty - the final rare figure I unpacked (Natalya Vankaskerkin).
With that (and a few singles I've picked up from the other sets) I'm pretty well set up for the moment - I've got enough goblins, kobolds & dire rats for most low-level PFS scenarios, and the giants, trolls, elementals, etc. from this set give me a good selection of figures to stand in for more unusual monsters.

Seeing the number of people with broken minis I'm beginning to worry about mine. Local UPS isn't known for it's gentle hand.
Yeah, mine is estimated delivery tomorrow. I will be at work when it arrives. I have a second floor apartment and instead of leaving boxes at the front office my local UPS delivery guy likes to just chuck them up onto my balcony so Im kind of concerned myself.

Mine was also UPS, and only one was broken, and it was the spider and it was just a fang, it's so minor I may not bother gluing it back on.
So there is hope.
That said, the culprits on the breaks is the hill and fire giants. Most of the other bigs were twist tied in, but these guys all fell out, all of them.
I encourage the use of the twists, they're annoying, but they are the future due to avoid breaks. Full speed ahead!

Mine arrived from Miniature Market today. I got a full set with three breakages:
1) The Blue Dragon had 1 foot that broke from the base. I glued it back on.
2) Amiri's sword arm broke off at the elbow. I glue that back on.
3) One of my spider-riding mites lost his sword arm at the shoulder. That one can't be glued.
Numbers 2 and 3 were the result of free-range Hill Giants who had come out of their shells. All three of my Hill Giants had come loose and 2 of them inflicted casualties on their boxmates. I had some other larges come loose, but they didn't damage anything.
I'm satisfied over all. The packaging could use some work. I have to say though, that I'm not a fan of minis that extend well beyond their bases; it makes it difficult to put them adjacent to other minis.

I was lucky for the first two sets, I got no broken figures. This time however...
I got a medium air elemental that fell of its base, and a Wyvern that fell of its base. I was able to glue both back on easy enough, so no issue there.
My last breakage was Koriah Azmeren, who lost an arm in the package. I haven't decided if I'm going to send that one to Wizkids or attempt to glue it on myself...

The good news is I got a full set and the duplication was on things I really wanted multiples of. The bad news is this set should have been labeled some assembly required. I had SEVEN broken figures two of which were total losses both common but both figures I somehow only got two total of. In all cases it was due to the large figure breaking free and rampaging around the box. All in all I'm happy but at the price of these things seven broken figures is an awful lot.

Does anyone know what Wizkids policy is on returning damaged miniatures for replacements? One of the great things about DDM was if you had any damaged figures you would send them back to Wizards, and they would send a replacement free of charge, no questions asked (so long as the set was still in print, of course).

WizKids has an online product replacement tool here. There is usually a delay before a brand new set shows up on the tool (I don't think Shattered Star is up yet), but they will get it up there and get damaged minis replaced for you.
Thanks,
cos
Shattered Star now shows up on their replacement tool (I have just reported my damaged Natalia Vancaskerkin).

Well darn, that's actually too good. I was just looking for a list of their names so I could create a check list for my duplicates.

Kor produced an "unofficial checklist" PDF for the other sets, so perhaps one is on the way..

Is anyone else unable to generate a packing list using the Wizkids replacement tool when trying to replace shattered star minis? I can get one for heroes and monsters (still have a seelah with no shield), but not shattered star. Not sure how to contact WizKids for support with their support tool (heh).

Yeah I set up a package without any hassles. Unfortunately there is a 5 figure limit ot a package. I ordered 2 case (one from paizo, one fomr my "local") and while I am waiting for the one from paizo still the local arrived. This one only spent a week in transit, as opposed to the 2-3 weeks the paizo one will. Opening it contained 9 broken miniatures! And the dragon was damaged :( It is beautiful though, so well done guys on that count. (the red scarfy thing on head snapped, along with 2 spines/horns) Not a great hope for the long distance one.
I have ordered another brick from a closer shop, more costly but only 1-2 days shipping. See how that one goes I suppose.
I suppose my question is do I have to ship the packages of 5 minis to Wizkids? If I do it just isn't worth it for me, will cost me 10-20 dollars for the return from Aus. Anyone have any idea of how it works?

I wouldnt give up hope. My first case arrived in Australia today and had no breakages. The dragon was fine and very few large minis had come out of their packaging. No doubt there'll be a lot of variance, but distance travelled is probably a less important statistic than freight company and freight class, I'd suspect.

I think Wizkids needs to change the kind of plastic they're using (very brittle) and take a second look at the adhesive they use.
Another poster has already suggested using twist ties for all the large miniatures (isn't that an oxymoron?). Another possibility would be simply to put a flat sheet between the two facing trays, so a loose figure can't stray too far.
But these are issues and suggestions that probably should be addressed to WizKids, rather than discussed on a Paizo forum.

Actually, this would be the best place to discuss it. Where WizKids is the one who actually takes care of the packaging, there really isn't a means to contact them.
So therefore, we are left giving our impressions here on Paizo's site. Besides, just reading Erik's posts, this is a joint venture with Paizo. And any information that needs to be shared with WizKids, Paizo will do so.

I have every faith that all this broken mini feedback on the Paizo forums is going to make its way back to Wizkids via Erik, et al.
Also keep in mind that Paizo sells single, which means they are cracking open a ton of cases on their own and I bet they're finding plenty of broken minis as well.

Got our shipment today! A full set with NO BREAKS! Hurray for all the minis surviving. Even the brave mites who fought the terrifying Iron Golem Rampage of 2013! Xin and the Clockwork Reliquary were in the last two boxes so there was a bit of nail biting up until the end. They all look great though. I may have to pick up more Grey Maidens as I only got 2 of those.

A small part of me loves the case distribution, especially when I'm opening the last pack wondering if Dullahan is in it. (he was, complete set, very exciting)
My dragon was in perfect shape. I broke the named derro while pulling it out, I'll be able to glue it back. I also had another named derro arrive without his head. I need to take a picture because I'm amused by it, not sure I'll send it in for replacement.
Dear god do I love the golems and elementals in this set.

Received my case, opened the first four boosters and then closed it up and went to bed. Four boosters and no rares, killed the mood. I know it will be better tonight (or I hope so).
On the other hand, two of those had hill giants, loose and running around the box. But no breaks. So maybe that is a good sign. :-)

I got my set today and am quite pleased with it, except for the broken minis. When Paizo originally mentioned that Wizkids was going to manufacture the minis, I became greatly concerned because of the brittle plastic they use. So far this is not been a significant issue... until now.
The "crown" of the collection, the Blue Dragon has 1 horn tip busted off. I fared better than others, but I was really disappointed by this, especially since it was the first item I opened.
From there, the casualty list was reasonable small, but lets just say the Hill Giants won. These unsecured large figures reeked havoc on the poor defenceless miniatures they were package with. My 3 Hill Giants each claimed one kill, however one of them did manage to cleave into another mini. The casualty list from the Hill Giants is: 1 Mite on Spider (ripped his arm right off), 1 Tower Girl (severed her leg off at the shin), 1 Natalya (severed her leg off at the knee and sundered her sword),1 Shriezyx (removed 3 legs -- good thing its a spider and had 5 left to skitter away with).
I started a product replacement request from WizKids, however the Blue Dragon is not an available selection. I guess I will have to contact Paizo about it.

I thought there was generally one rare per booster usually. What was in those boosters?
edit: nevermind, I'm bad at math.
Well if you got a case, you're likely fine, I've yet to read a report of a sealed base not having a full set. :)

I was missing ARDATHANATUS in my case - just havn't written up my case report yet. Also I only got 1 SHRIEZYX, which had 4 legs broken off

I got home and finished opening my full case. I am happy to report I did pull at least one of every figure. I am also happy to report no broken figures. <daniel does a happy dance>
Now the real fun begins. Sharing with my friends who couldn't afford the full case. Let the trades begin.

2 more cases arrived today (yeah I bought 3 but we just sold a house so I had some money for me). In 3 cases (with 3 dragons) I had 9 breakages - all in the firts case. The last two arrived without any damage. In hand I am very impressed on the whole, though some minis have "interesting" paint jobs.

I have been out of town and returned home last night. Picked up my two cases this morning and opened them.
The only figure I did not get at least two of was Xin.
The only damage I had was a nightgaunt that I damaged when I took it out of the plastic. I pulled one leg off the base. I like the set.
I am very happy with set. Pathfinder Battles is getting better with each release. I wish this was the standard that DDM had from the start.
I am so looking forward to the announcement of the next set.

Well, I got my subscription case last week, and I'm pretty happy. My blue dragon is fine, have to glue the various bits together but nothing was separated that wasn't supposed to be.
There are a few models I'm very impressed with - the large and medium elementals are top of the list, though I wish I'd gotten more of the large ones, maybe make them more common than they are. The Wrath Demon (Vrock) is also a great model as well. I also like the Iron Golem, the clockwork soldier, troll champion, shadow hound, and the complexity of the clockwork reliquary is ridiculous. Great work!
I look forward to seeing the rest of the elemental line filled out.
Is there any chance that you will go back and visit past adventure paths with future model releases?

I collected the "other" line of minis start to finish and although bent weapons, wings and limbs were common enough broken figures were a rarity, I can only remember three in 13+ sets and 100's of boosters. The cold weather may have contributed but the plastic is just too brittle I've had a couple figures break when someone at my table has dropped one on the floor. The quality of plastic needs to be addressed, I simply can not afford to keep buying figures that either come broken or get broken so easily.

Joana |

I only had one breakage in my case, and it's the first one I've had in -- what? three sets now? Unlike the other Large figures, the hill giants and iron golems weren't twist-tied in, and every single hill giant was out of its slot. One of them fell on a shriezyx and shattered two legs into small pieces that were rattling around in the box. Haven't decided if I'm going to bother with getting it replaced or not. I had a few more figures loose in the box but no other damage. The twist-ties on the other Larges did their job of keeping them from rattling around on the other minis, even when they didn't stay in the plastic.
My favorite minis? The glass golems are gorgeous. Sheila Heidmarch looks great. Love the green gems on the earth elementals. The dullahan is creepy as heck. Gray Maidens and Ardathanatus look awesome.
Misses? The paint on Runelord Sorshen and Lem was weird around the face and hair, in contrast to the perfection that was Sheila Heidmarch. Weird that the grub swarms can't actually share space with another mini.
