Something that I had thought of myself. A lot of what alignment means, as with so many things, is up to the GM. But killing someone or thing that has surrendered at least raises alignment questions for good characters. And perhaps for anyone not evil.

You would expect Boudacia to be less worried about such things being Chaotic Neutral. However, that would be to conform to the rules of her alignment, which is the last thing she wants to do.

Alignments? Meh. Just sorta a guideline ... If I start to see things that I don't think your alignment would allow, I'll say something if I think it's warranted, but I'll give you a warning before I get to the point of changing alignments. I'm more of a 'character concept' follower - What reason would your character have for doing that? kind of thing, than so much as the alignment. Capisce?

By the way, so you all know, RL Tamlara let me know via facebook on Saturday that she was having some internet issues. Not sure when it would be straightened out.

Yeah, alignment is supposed to be a product of your actions, not the other way around.

Worth mentioning though that Gansu has the legalistic curse, so he has real non-RP problems if he breaks his word.

Easiest way to solve that is just don't give your word. Let someone else in the group negotiate the terms of surrender. Aldhranhald would never promise life, he'd only ever promise a merciful death. Not the best negotiation tactic, but Aldhranhald is also the kind of elf who believes there are many ways to knowledge, and asking people is one of the least trustworthy sources, cause people lie. :)

I was in a game once where the Chaotic Neutral wizard promised a group of bandits that they would live if they surrendered, having no intention of keeping that promise. But I was playing a lawful good character and felt bound by this promise. This caused a big RP crisis in the game.

It made me appreciate the value of playing chaotic characters.

Gansu doesn't make promises lightly. But if someone else is negotiating he would feel bound by that promise too.

Now that Kessa is gone, we need a new...

Marching Order!

I propose the following:

It seems to me that we ought to have two different modes:

1. Checking for Traps. In this case Tamlara ought to be in front, with someone heavy just behind to support her.

Tamlara
Tank (either Gansu or Guiness)
Sama
Aldranhald
Other Tank

Boudacia and Wayne can be in bat form and occupy the same space as the second slot.

2. Getting Ready to Fight. In this case Tamlara doesn't need to be in front.

Tank (either Gansu or Guiness)
Tamlara
Sama
Other Tank
Aldranhald

How does that sound?

Ummmm... I just realized that when Aldranahald uses one of his trained Knowledge skills to identify the abilities and weaknesses of monsters, he actually gets a +12 to that check, because Monster Lore allows him to add his Wisdom modifier in addition to everything else. So he get's +4 from Intel, +2 from ranks +3 because all Knowledge skills are considered class skills (due to the Knowledge Domain), and another +3 from Monster Lore... This means, if they are outside of combat, he could take 10 and get a 22... Not too shabby. :) I'll have to invest some ranks in more class skills at level up, which fits his back story perfectly anyway... Next will be knowledge planes, and knowledge religion for sure, since they will be needed.

I have too encountered zombies.

In fact the very same zombies in the very same place, when I came down to scout last time.

They were not sleeping then and they are not sleeping now. And they have had nothing to do but trudge round and round in circles in a tedious fashion that is sure to put anything capable to sleep to sleep.

I left the possibility of cute, cool, and/or trendy behind years ago. The trudging around in circles is metaphorical, although the cog spinning in a machine may be more apt. The fabric-covered box is literal (usually called a cubicle). I work as an engineer in a big company.

INACTIVE

You have fabric? My cubicle looks like a shower stall!

nothing game related, just cubicles and sales calls:
Hahahahaha!!! Cubicles ... yes, the very small thin, fake 'walls' of my cubicle are covered in fabric, but it is so worn out that if you stick a thumb tack in it will most likely just fall right back out! And the fabric is only there to make them 'appear' as walls because they are actually hollow behind that fabric! Just empty air space for about an inch, maybe inch and a half, to the next cubicle! And you try putting about 150 people in the same room all talking on the phone at the same time! See how well you can hear! :P

Customer service call center, taking inbound calls only.

At least I don't stoop so low ass to call people to annoy them!

And I HIGHLY recommend you NEVER give your ph # to JD By Ryder no matter how desperate you are for a car! They immediately sent me a text msg asking for more info, when I replied stop to unsubscribe they started calling me sometimes more than once a day, but I just ignored the 'unknown' number until the same number called me ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON!!!! when I answered and practically screamed at the lady for calling me on a Sunday and told her to take me off the call list! Sorry Lady. At least they haven't called since.

Gamewise The entire party has been marching around and fighting and has not slept since the last time Boudacia saw the goblin zombies, so does that make the entire party immune to sleep? Duh, NO! So, Boudacia your logic fails big time.
Now, are these 'common' monsters that can be identified with an untrained knowledge religion check? Goblins are common. Zombies are relatively common. BUT? zombie goblins? I have been playing D&D for something close to 20 years. I don't recall EVER having seen zombie goblins before. Does that make them uncommon? To me, yes, but maybe the game system does not consider them uncommon? How does one determine the 'commonality' of a monster? So, you can see my dilemma to some degree. BG via facebook suggested the "Monster manual rarity line", but, Monster manual first suggest its from DnD, not Pathfinder, and I don't have that book and could not find a listing for such a thing on an internet search. I did download a PDF of the bestiary but of course it has no such thing. A ruling here needs to be mad for future knowledge checks at some point so I would appreciate any input from you all, before I can make a final call on that aspect.

That being said, I WILL ALWAYS REWARD A NATURAL TWENTY IN SOME WAY OR ANOTHER!!! so, Aldhranhald knows everything about regular zombies and goblins and thus the combination thereof. Primarily: DR 5/slashing; Immune: undead traits.

Aldranhald is built mostly as a knowledge guy, so I understand that his attacks aren't that great. But we do need to focus on getting you close enough that you can identify the creatures with that knowledge. Depending on the creature, that knowledge may be critical.

@BG: Stairs are not difficult terrain normally. They cost 2x normal movement to go up, but normal movement going down. We are probably okay, unless they also have that rubble all over them.

Cast cursed earth and you'll see some! :)

Presumably a successful knowledge check would allow someone to understand that zombie is something that a dead body is made into and thus almost anything can be made into a zombie.

I have done zombie giants and zombie treants before in my home game. I did goblin ghouls once, but not goblin zombies.

There are two answers to this.

First, marching around and fighting are activities that will preclude sleep not promote it. You need to be awake to march [unless you are sleepwalking of course, but that is rare] and the noise and adrenaline surges involved in combat will make sleep impossible. Contrast this with monotonously trudging in circles...

Second, for those familiar with propositional logic, this is merely where the assumption introduced earlier is discharged.

What's going on? Not a single game post today? I know Tamlara just notified me that their electricity was out all weekend due to the hurricane, and she just got it back late tonight, so she will be posting some time tomorrow. I've been waiting to see what everybody is doing, but do I need to go ahead and roll initiatives? Not sure here ...

And Boudacia, ... Huhzuh whatsa? Propo what logic? Sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about there. But after the combat and excitement, your all's adrenaline should have plummeted and so seems like you all should have been very, very, sleepy ... but no. And unless Aldhranhald actually shares the knowledge he knows/gained, the rest of the characters still don't know.

And besides, the zombies are mindless, so there is nothing monotonous about trudging in circles to them! HA! :P

I think we're just waiting to enter the room? We have a marching order and so it's a matter of figuring out if we're rolling initiative, or blasting zombies from surprise, or what?

Propostional logic. From OED online:-

"proposition
NOUN

Logic A statement that expresses a concept that can be true or false."

You remember algebra from high school? Algebra allows you to do proofs that are true for all numbers.

Propostional, or formal, logic does the same thing with propositions. So you can, loosely speaking, do algebra with what follows logically.

Sound complicated? It is even worse.

And discharging an assumption is a valid tool from propositional logic. Used in a way that is total bullsh***.

Glad to hear you are all OK Tamlara.

Hey Stormstrider-Can I move into the square diagonally behind Tamlara, the one with just under half cut off by the column running up through the staircase that has a yellow and a green line running through it. What I want to is ready an action if any of the gombies move into the square in front of Tamlara to go burning hands. Without roasting Tamlara.

It seems fine by the rules to me, but it is up to you to say if I can go into a square that is only like 40% there. Sqares are 5' X 5' and 40% of that is oodles of room for a person.

Boudacia, If I understand your question correctly, - I have moved your icon on the grid and placed a 15 ft cone template there, second cone next to the insert as well - if that is what you want, the answer is yes. Looks like a good plan to me.

I'm just glad I remembered to move my mini this time! That does sound like a good plan, though. 'Roasted Tamlara with Potatoes and Carrots' is a recipe fit only for giants. Or maybe dragons? Either way, we have neither potatoes nor carrots, so roasting me really wouldn't work out well.

By the way, I remembered I have not given out the XP points for the most recent encounter.

There are several players who have not updated the Dice Rolls Doc.

Still looking for languages from: Gansu, Sama, & Tamlara.

Oh, you meant on the document!

You asked before, but I thought you were talking about my character sheet. Updating now.

@Samma, please don't feel like you have to take any particular action, even if BG leaves a space for you or you have specifically stated you are delaying until after BG's action. I just didn't want you to feel left out or skipped over based on your previous posts.

@Stormstrider, did Gansu hit @ do damage to the lead gombie?

FYI guys I know my posts have slowed down a bit lately.

Here's what's going on.

Right now we have a staffing shortage at my workplace, and I have been pulling extra shifts. This has left me pretty tired and worn out. I also expect to be training some new hires soon (though I'm not sure when), and since I do most of my posts from work it is unlikely I will be able to post much on those days, but we don't have a schedule for that person yet, so I don't yet know which days I am doing that, and I may not end up knowing until I arrive for my shift. So since I may not have any warning I'm letting you guys know now. The training will probably be spread over three days.

After that I am leaving for a much needed Vacation on September 30th. I expect to have internet access, so I should be able to post in that period, though it may be a bit irregular.

Sorry for any problems this might cause, and if I don't respond in a reasonable time bot me as needed. Things should be back to normal for me in mid-October.

Understood Gansu! Thanks for letting us know.

I have been checking in at least twice a day here. I did send Tamlara a message via Facebook late last night to make sure she knows it is her turn.

Battle Grid ***** Treasure Chart ***** Emerald Spire Skills

I just watched the 'new' Mummy movie (2017). No spoilers! Just the moment when they are talking about how beautiful, ruthless and cunning the princess was, and saying how she would be worshiped as a living god ... and the pharaoh is staring at the pretty girl in the retinue ... then she's having a baby! That's some powerful look he's got! Just look and in a matter of seconds she's having a baby! Wow! - Hahaha! But I really enjoyed the movie. And quite romantic which I was NOT expecting!

Nothing to do with the game. Just another night of drama in the house-bar? that I live in. Feel free to ignore:
WHAT A NIGHT!!! And NOT in a good way! I believe I have mentioned to all of you previously, I rent a room in a house. There is one other guy – for this purpose we will call him ‘Johnny’ (that is NOT his name!) also renting a room, another fella, that rents the basement apartment, and the landlord and his wife in the room adjoining mine. Yesterday during the day (I was not really aware of it because I close my door and stay shut in all day playing on my PlayStation, or my computer, or watching movies on the weekends) but ‘Johnny’ was - according to what my landlord told me later – being ‘drunk-and-disorderly’ let’s say, and according to my landlord, ‘Johnny’ broke his own bedroom door. When ‘Johnny’ left the house, my landlord decided to lock ‘Johnny’ out of the house. The front door has a solid storm/screen door that we renters do not have a key to. About 10pm ‘Johnny’ starts knocking, ringing the doorbell, then banging on windows, banging on the door, etc., etc. My landlord sends me a text telling me not to let ‘Johnny’ back in the house without landlord’s consent period. ‘Johnny’ keeps repeating the entry attempts every hour or so. About two o’clock in the morning he decides to add my bedroom window to the repertoire! This started becoming more frequent also at this time about every 30 minutes, then every 15, then every 5!!! I send ‘Johnny’ a text telling him the landlord told me not to let him in, and that he better stop or the landlord is going to call the cops. About 2 minutes later I hear a commotion in the front room where the front door is. It immediately becomes obvious that somehow ‘Johnny’ got inside and the landlord is there and a screaming match starts back and forth! This is about 4:30am now? This goes on for half an hour or so, during which I hear the landlord yelling at him that he just broke into the house and caused property damage in the process. ‘Johnny’ yells back that yes he did do that - ?!?! WHAT? Wait, yes, you read that correctly, ‘Johnny’ is yelling admitting that he did break into the house and cause property damage while doing so, AND he is sounding all mad about it! In the meantime, the landlord’s wife is yelling that she’s calling the cops. ‘Johnny’ acts surprised that they are actually going to call the cops. According to a text that my landlord sent me at 5am – yes, we live in the same house; my landlord is usually no more than 50? Or so? ft away from me? But he sends me text – the cops said that since ‘Johnny’ is a resident here, than the landlord has no right to lock him out of the house, and that ‘Johnny’ can’t be held responsible for the damage to the property. The Landlord will have to take ‘Johnny’ to court to get him evicted.
After all that I could not get to sleep, finally went to sleep somewhere after 7:30 this morning! Then woke up at 8, 9 and 10 to use the restroom! After the 10 am run I was half awake so got on the computer and decided to write this.

RL Tamlara has told me before that I need to find a new place to live. I believe some of my other friends here may have mentioned it. AND I fully agree!!! but, the truth is that I can’t find anything near this price to rent and as far as the room goes I have a GREAT setup! The rent includes all utilities, free Wi-Fi, a free 42-inch “smart” TV, a mini fridge with separate “real” freezer section, and a microwave – all in the room! I could pay almost double and not have all the amenities! And I would not be able to afford that! Not to mention that my landlord is being nice enough to get me back and forth to work every day right now because my car is broke down! As a matter of fact this past Thursday and Friday he just let me take the van and drive myself back and forth to work! Thursday he was even nice enough to warn me that some people where coming for dinner that he knew I didn’t want to see and he allowed me to keep the van so I could stay away from the house until they were gone!

So, I need to get my car fixed hopefully, and then save up some money, and then yes I need to look for another place to live. There have been a few other episodes of his wife being drunk and things going wrong there recently as well, I just haven’t posted about those. Let’s just say the last time she spoke to me was to tell me to never speak to her again because I “am a two-faced liar”, and to inform me that she will never do my laundry again (oh yeah – until then I had free laundry service as well!), and she said she was going to make sure all the renters get kicked out. The landlord had already warned me she was saying this about kicking out the renters and he assured me that she will be gone before me and the basement guy are, but he was already wanting to get rid of ‘Johnny’ back then.

And thanks for letting me vent! I know Boudacia/Chillel will get excited to see another chapter of my drama life to read! ;)

Am I the only person who reads your real life drama posts?

You might get a wider readership if you changed them to make them more believable. You certainly seem to live in a madhouse. At least it is not boring.

The only thing interesting that has happened around here is that we now have someone dealing drugs from one of the units.

Their was a furious, elderly midget ranting and raving over a mobile phone in the parking lot about how he was coming around to collect the money he was owed and was going to **** smash the guys head in if he didn't have it. And his friendly drug dealer was driving him accompanied by the dealers puppy Rico. Odd.

Nothing about the game, just a response to Boudacia, but anyone is welcome to read!:
Hahahaha! I'm pretty sure Aldy and Tamy read them as well, just you usually have the more ... shall I say 'colorful'? or interesting comments afterwards. :) I do enjoy them so. They actually help brighten my day a little.

And thanks! That little story about the Furious Midget was amusing! I've never gotten to see that in person, though I have seen something similar on TV, but in person it would be much more amusing! Not to mention real! Of course, considering his height, I have to wonder ... Are you ready for it? ... which of the guy's head's was he planning to smash? :D

And to be clear, I mean NO OFFENSE to any of the little people out there! We have a lady at my job that is a little person and I say she is rather attractive. I have a lot of respect for them. It must be difficult living in a world where things are not designed to your height.

On another subject and still nothing about the game. The Beautiful Ladies of Serenity: A Social Media experiment:
I decided to conduct a little 'social media' experiment today.

In one of my Browncoat (Firefly fans) Face book groups I decided to make 3 posts having pictures of three of the beautiful ladies from the show. No nudes! If you wish to see thee pictures here you go:The Ladies of Serenity. I started with just the first one of Summer/River, but then I didn't want Morena/Inara or Jewel/Kaylee getting jealous so I posted once with their two pics, in clockwise order and then because I like Morena/Inara most of all I did one more post with the bottom 4 pics of her. And I'm sorry to Gina Torres, she is just not my type. But Morena Baccarin/Inara MOST definitely is!

Anyways, in under 7 minutes I had 94 likes/reactions/comments! And even now, several hours later the numbers are still climbing!

Yep. We're pigs.

Nothing game-wise. Me talking/philosophizing? Telling how I made the psychologist jaw drop!:
I remember many years ago ... I was in the hospital due to having congestive heart failure at the age of 37. In my confusion of signing the paperwork I had accidentally checked the "Do Not Resuscitate" box. Hospital Policy meant that even though I explained it was a mistake, they were required to have a Psychologist come in to talk to me just to make sure. Since it was part of the university training hospital they asked if it would be ok if one of the students conducted the questionnaire. Sure I said. He sat down asked a few basics then told me to just tell him about some of the 'highlights'/most emotional moments of my life. I did. I literally watched his jaw dropping further and further as I continued. When I got done, I don't remember his exact words, but the basis of his statement/question was this: How do you get up every morning and continue on with your life?

From the guy studying to be a psychologist to help people? He made me want to kill myself! (Not really, but you get the point!) I just told him, you just gotta do what you gotta do. To 'quit doing' is not an option.

I guess my point is that apparently I have had a rough life compared to some others? But I'm generally happy. And I love my family! (well, I might make some changes to my brother - especially the woman he chose to marry! None of our family likes her!) my parents still live in Argentina and I call them on Skype at least once a week and we always talk for at least 30 minutes and frequently more than an hour. Overall, I feel blessed.

Do I wish I had a girlfriend/wife? At times yes. But then I would not have the time for all my gaming, and I would not be able to live the way I do. (You know, dress how I want, never make the bed, clean house, etc.) So, I'm ok.

The guy I called an elderly midget wasn't really a midget. He was just short and slight.

I don't recall having anything to do with what are now called little people. Not that i have avoided it really, just it hasn't come up.

The social experiment is interesting. Morena is definitely very hot. And her appearance suggests kindness [at least] as well.

We had a new person join our tabletop group today. Lenny. He seems nice, knowledgeable about roleplaying and gets on with everyone. So this is good.
