Temerlyth is one of those rarest of beings, an elven lich. Drinking from the cup of blackest hate, ancient wrath drives him ever on. Accompanied by his ravenous undead children, his tormented wife and her former lover, Temerlyth is a powerful horror stalking the broken ends of the world just as easily as right outside your door. He searches for the next victim of his vile experiments. He inspires nightmare whispers, tales told in the dark and seedy places where adventurers gather to swap stories sane men would rather not hear, stories that just may prove all too real!

As Enemies and Adversaries go, there are random generators, source-books aplenty, and stat blocks all over the internet. What all of these solutions lack, however, is what TPK Games has offered here with splendid thoroughness.
Everyone loves (to hate) a lich. Temerlyth, however, is no simple lich to be drag-dropped into some dusty crypt or abandoned library. TPK provides a through and thoughtful history, as well as a slew of other monstrous companions/contextual offerings, which leaves the GM looking for an arch-villain with many options as to how to blend him into an existing campaign, or build a campaign around him!
In addition to this interesting cadre of hooks and backgrounds, it turns out that this fifteen-page dossier on Temerlyth and his usual partners (and hated enemies - lycanthropes) is the prelude to a full-blown adventure module starring the cast and crew described within this supplement! Reading through this writeup (nicely illustrated, and well-written, without drawing you into too many specific lock-ins), I immediately thought of no less than a half-dozen uses for Temerlyth, in addition to his lightly-referenced lair, and a new spell he created!
My only regret (and why this is four stars instead of five) is that not much is said about Temerlyth’s phylactery - when it comes to liches, I feel this is a key element, and one which would have added yet another facet to an otherwise well-crafted and delightfully devious undead enemy!
I just wanted to say a few words about Temerlyth the Undying and about TPK Games in general. Though it isn't readily apparent from the product description I'm his humble creator. It may sound as though I'm bragging on myself, for which I apologize, but I just want to mention a couple of my personal accomplishments to help reassure about quality of this product. I'm really proud of my work on this despicable villain.
I participated in the RPG Superstar 2010 Contest and placed in the top 8--doesn't buy me a beer at the local house, but there it is. :)
My name also appears in Ultimate Combat as one of the contributing designers (Richard A. Hunt... that's me!). This is also my very first work for a game company, other than as a contributor or in some old Dragon Magazine articles. I'd like to see Temerlyth's evil spread world wide... Muhahahah! *Ahem*
To close, we think Temerlyth came out so well, that I've also written his lair--what I hope will be our next major companion product. So what you'll be getting is just the tip of the iceberg! We have big plans to produce hundreds of weird and wonderful products--all simple to use, filled with old school goodness, built on the chassis of the best RPG system in the world and in some cases as dark and twisted as the hair in a demon's arm pit. Haha!
Totally with you there, D_M! The first of the series that can stand up to FoTS! I'm also completing my review of the adventure, but since I'm not in a condition to post anything comprehensible (i.e. not exactly sober), I'll refrain myself from posting right now.
