So I have an idea in mind for a battle that I want some opinions/feedback/ideas for.
First the setup, in summary; players are traversing an abandoned pass/underground cavern system. Entrance has caved in behind them (of course), and they are beset by morlocks. They out ran the morlocks to the best of their abiliy until they took a wrong turn and are cornered. They fought some, got their heads handed to them in the battle, but survived, only to look down the hallway to see a Moria-esque horde of morlocks descending upon them. One of them sees a fissure in the floor, and the session ends with everyone jumping into the hole!
So it's going to be a tough battle because everyone is still messed up a bit from the last fight. But that's ok, it's supposed to be a high risk option.
The tunnel esentially leads to an underground river which can carry the players along until it dumps into a subterranean lake. So as morlocks come through the hole the party just came through, they go to attack the party who is now flowing downriver. I'm thinking the river will be shallow enough to stand in, but deep enough that swim checks will be needed to stop from being carried off by the current. And perhaps a strength check to hold ground. The sides of the river will be climbable at different spots.
And I'm using roll20. I'll esentially make a long map, and move the whole party downstream at the end of every round unless they manage to hold their ground if they so choose. The morlocks will probably be both in the water and on the shore.
Anyways that was kind of long, but I look forward to anyone's ideas that wish to contribute!
