Fabulous prizes! Cars, wealth, and a year’s supply of furniture wax! All of these—and much, much more—can be yours... if you survive. Of course, you are going to have to kill the monsters to get the treasure, and you aren’t the crowd favorite today, and the cameras are very unforgiving. But there are no second takes, and if you die... YOU DIE!

In Xcrawl, the players are superstar athletes taking their chances in a live-on-pay-per-view death sport. It’s a modern-day world with a fantasy twist, and the game is simple: the Dungeon Judge, or DJ, creates an artificial dungeon under controlled—but lethal—conditions. He designs the maze, and stocks it with monsters, secret doors, magical traps, treasure and prizes. The players must go through the dungeon and fulfill whatever conditions the DJ puts forth in order to win.

Xcrawl is a sport and the challenges are created, but the danger is no less real. If you die, you die. There are no second chances. Citizens of the North American Empire tune in every week to watch their favorite celebrities get eaten, paralyzed, turned to stone, and ripped apart. The nation’s hunger for blood and mayhem grows with every contest. How will you fare?

The Xcrawl core rulebook includes everything you need to start playing Xcrawl, including background material, equipment, character options, and new rules for Xcrawl, including rules for mojo, fame, signature moves, and more. It also includes MemphisCrawl XVII, a level 3-5 introductory Xcrawl adventure.

this looks awesome :D I think I may have to start saving.

It was awesome the last time I got to play and run it... good times had by all.

I mean it comes across as if a d20 modern setting with the full magic trappings of D&D developed and your contestants on a gameshow to try and win in a running man type scenario where you have to keep the audience happy or they'll vote you off ala american idol, but if they vote you off you get killed instead of merely sent home? am i getting the jist of it?

Oh yes... with some changes... for example the hobgoblins where in on WW 2, dragons are still around, Elves have become regular "upper class" people, oh, and USA is actually an empire...

There's even a small bit about what to do if the players get too big for their britches and decide they don't have to bow to the emperor...a small nod from the big guy and they (the PC in question) are dragged outside and killed for disrespecting the emperor...

It's D&D -- Cyberpunk style in many ways.

I'm curios, this is my first time buying from this site So I'm not quite sure. I know that often when you buy books from here Paizo sends you the book and gives you the PDF for free. For this one, is this just the PDF, or the Book with the PDF?

Paizo don't give free pdfs when you buy books, they give them when you subscribe to certain product lines.

This is not a Paizo product, it is a Goodman Games product sold by Paizo.
The title says this is just the pdf.

What I wouldn't mind knowing is if the PDF is actually in color. The "Color Edition" one over on Drivethru is black and white.

Oddly, "Color Edition" is indeed a black-and-white product. No idea why it's named that.

Thanks for the confirmation of my suspicions, and the warning to potential customers.

In terms of text, it seems to be the digital version of the physical Xcrawl core book I have, which is in color. I'm dratted if I can figure out why they'd greyscale the PDF of it though. Or put a color cover picture up when the contents are black and white.

I'd have been more annoyed if I hadn't bought the PDF heavily discounted in a sale, or if I didn't have the physical book as well.

There's a "regular" edition of the Xcrawl core book, published earlier than the Color Edition book.

Content is slightly different, in addition to being black-and-white.

So, even though the content is black-and-white in this PDF, it might actually be the Color Edition content...

I bought the Color Edition of the physical book too because I like color more than black-and-white.

I bought the PDF earlier today and saw it was B&W like the original version of the Xcrawl core rulebook.

So, I am disappointed that the title of the PDF version for sale is mislabeled as Color and there was no warning by the company that it was converted to grayscale PDF from cover to...OGL license (why leave off the back cover)?

There is a little bit of color in the book... page 33 has a bit of color and a few of the level maps have colored icons.

Still, the cover and all art is in B&W. Which is weird, because a lot of it looks like it was done in color and converted to grayscale. WTF? At least clearly state on the product description that the PDF will be mostly B&W BEFORE YOU TAKE MONEY FROM PEOPLE for something called "Color Edition".

Unhappy customer.
