the pcs i have r clueless so i have to hold there hand for everything.
im not playing aow but im playing forgotten realms and i tend to think khelben, elminster and the 7 sisters would intervene in a situation of tens of thousand of wights and spawn running amuk...sounds great though

ive been a dm since the early 80s,and having all those years xp i would say the worms do 1 point of damage as it burrows in then dies from the paladins divine health.
crippling the character class by making exceptions is a good way tp lose your players

i feel your pain, but u may have a group that just isnt interested in the story arc.
try to emphasize the monsters and treasure and reward characters for following the story with xp
if that dont work i dunno what to tell ya i had a similar party that refused to follow up on clues,so thats what i did
good luck

oh by the way they were rarely dead yet when he did this

i had a character when i was a dm in 2nd edition that liked to cast reduce on defeated opponents and then eat them..chaotic neutral and just this side of crazy

thats a good point, maybe critters caught in it wouldnt get a save just fall unless they can fly, levitate, or teleport
hmmm ..... anyway, thanx for your input.
what about a spell that increases gravity by 2-4 times normal normal to pull flying critters outa the sky (or climbing) to slow or paralyze earth bound critters.and do u think falling damage would b increased?

i think a reflex save to b more realistic.. to avoid falling and im not sure about spell resistance to critters that try to pass through the "hollow water" spell .
its without a doubt a transmutation spell of at least 6th lvl probably higher anyway thanx for your in put guys

ya those r all good ideas thanks guys and your right i was planning to use it as a "trap" for ships as the water doesnt look diffrent but has the consistancy of air. falling into water from 100 feet would do 1/2 reg and 1/2 nonlethal damage at least thats my house rule and splinter any ship that couldnt fly or prevent pursuit from waterborne enemies

a designed a spell that takes away water resistance so anything swimming through the area of effect "falls" to the outer edge of the spell or sea floor its has a 100' range and a 60' radius.
but im not sure how to proceed with a saving throw, any sugestions?

I kinda doubt it, man. What years were you at UofE? I was there from 1990-1994 (so yes, back in the GG's charter days). If you were there, you should recognize my name tag ;) Where were you among the Aces?

I went back a few years ago and couldn't find anyone there or at Comic Quest who knew anything about the Guild. Although, Jim, the owner of CQ remembered my face as soon as I walked in. So it was gratifying that the man who's daughter I'm sending to college with by spending my Work Study money at his shop remembered who I was.

PS: I have a sneaking suspicion that this is Adam. Am I right?

naw this aint adam, i doubt if u would know me i only went a few times back in the early 90s and maybe late 80s i mostly gamed with friends at home during that time its cool u remeber the guild though im sorry i didnt go more when i had the chance.id like to start up again when i get home im an expierienced player and dm and youd be surprized how many people play over here so i give advise but actually playing is hard due to misions but its whetted my appetite
